i did JFK in March.... got through customs and immigration and got my luggage in around 30 minutes...
make sure you have a seat towards the front of the plane, so you get off early... then walk fast, and fingers crossed you will get towards the front of the immigration queue....
then again, there might be other planes, so it is hit and miss!!!
i might have just been very lucky0 -

yeh same for me at philly in november and in feb, very quick!!! this is my fouth time to the us since august, i take it they know exactly when youve been before, when youve left and what answers you gave to their questions last time???0 -
and they also have the photo of you on their screen, so they know what you look like..
as for the answers, i don't think so, as they just don't seem to type anything in the computer..
i've done a number of quick hops back and forth in the past, not had any issues at all...0 -
The MSE section on customs allowances has been saying "next year" for when the £145 allowance changes to £290 for at least a year now (I admit I may be exagerating, but time does fly!).
Does Phatbear or anyone else know when this is hapenning?
I looked on the C&E site but could not find an email address for them.
Cheers,

hi everyone - my sister, some friends and myself are hoping to book holiday to New York in next few days - my main concern is that my sister is only 20 - will this be a problem in terms of going out in the evening and going into bars, etc? i understand the legal drinking age is 21, but i dont want to leave her in hotel on her own!
Would be grateful for any help!

I found the bars to be very strict on age, and required ID just for admission (and I was several years over 21, and looked it!).
Can they not delay the trip until her birthday?Gone ... or have I?0 -
unfortunately not, she only turned 20 yesterday! and im screwed, im 26 but often get mistaken for a lot younger! This may be a dumb question but we'l be ok in restaurants and stuff wont we? we're not really going for a boozy holiday but i was just worried they might be strict on under 21s

Hi,
Could I get some advice please? Looking at a long weekend next March for my big 40. Want to travel on Friday 5th from Bristol and stay 4 nights returning on Tuesday 10th. Cheapest flights at mo are nearly £350 and I know that isn't cheap but as its our preference to fly from a local airport we are guessing that the price would be higher. Anyone do any better? Also any recommendations for hotels?0 -

at 26 you've got a high percentage chance of being asked for id ....i've been with people in their late 30's who've been asked for it.0 -

from a small airport like Bristol, and also nearly 12 months in advance, that is a cheap price for a flight..
however, flights around that time of year, i know like the back of my hand, as it is my birthday around that time too, so the 5th is normally my departure date..
in the past, say 6 birthdays i've had in NYC, i've paid no more than £260 for a return flight, from MAN..
factor in Bristol into that price, £350 is quite fair, especially as fuel prices are still rocketing!
