markymoo: Do I need to call the Cosmo to confirm my reservation? Also do they have a computer to access- just thinking about checking in on line for return journey.0

Anyone have experience of flying with Delta?

As already stated by others...If I had a choice I'd go with Delta everytime over BA. BA canceled my original flight and tranferred me to Delta...they were much better.
Great marketing by BA :rolleyes:In a small town south of the border, where men are men and women need a sense of humour.0 -

not really, unless you want to confirm a quiet room / room looking out onto the street... be warned, there is construction right outside the hotel, that starts every morning at 7am, so if you want to sleep, it might be best..
they don't have a computer you can use, but they do offer free wi-fi in all the rooms.... maybe a trip to a kinkos to check in online if you need to print things..

(delta do not do OLCI for their international flights, in case anyone is wondering)0 -
You can access free internet from the two libraries on 5th Ave. (both opposite each other). One's a student / research library inthe guide books & the other a proper library.
They offer either 15 min or one hour sessions. Didn't try to print out, but they were really convinient & cheap<<<<free:D."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
customs in the states are how customs in the uk will be when we join the border agency, ie immigration and customs are all one dept, however my experience with US customs, on a non-proffesional basis, has always been a good one they are polite and courteous to travellers.
I found US immigration to be brusque at best and rude, insulting and patronising at worst.
I felt really sorry for the way people were spoken whenever I've been in a queue and am only thankful that the attitude they display doesn't represent the rest of the country."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
customs? they've never said a word to me on 10 trips to the US.. they take my card, glance at it, and wave me through..
immigration on the other hand... when travelling alone, i've had a couple more questions than usual, as they want to make sure i'm not staying and working illegally, but they've been firm, and professional.. what you have to bear in mind is that they have 90 seconds to make a decision, stamp your passport, and let you through....
i've never had any "attitude" from anyone at customs or immigration, maybe when people keep filling in the forms wrongly, they get a bit narked, but if people can't read instructions, its their own fault0 -
Thanks Mark, never been tempted by the train then? Just a 3 hour layover and chance of delay is a bit much. I'd love to do the delta's but they're just too expensive at the mo.
I'd book the PHL-LGA anyway as they put the fair up by £3 but then maybe not use it, is this allowed?
Dan
NO!
if you don't use the final leg, from PHL - LGA, you may find that your LGA - PHL - MAN legs will be cancelled....
out of 4 times i've flown i've had 1 big delay, which was due to weather, as it was January, and snowing, and foggy... i don't think thats tooo bad to be honest...
a 10 minute delay on airlines is still classed as ontime!0 -
May or may not be of help to any one going to NYC, but there are or soon will be very cheap bus fares from NYC to BOS and DC0

markymoo: How has your guide to Tribeca been coming on? Any suggestoins for mother and teenage daughter staying at Cosmo? Last year I could not get the hang of the streets and avenues so have made notes from your getting around NY guide!0

I am looking to book a trip, leaving Manchester around the 26th of June and returning 1st/2nd July. The best price I have found thus far is £353 (direct with Delta) so was wondering if any of you lovely people could help me find a slightly lower one?! Id consider flying from London if there was a considerable saving. Thanks!0
