No discount codes or anything then?0 -

markymoo. Is it easy to get sky train/subway to Cosmo Hotel? Just I see you always seem to go by taxi? If so which way would we go?0
-
laziness makes me go by taxi, it's a case of walk out of airport, dump luggage in car, and sit til i arrive..
now, if you're getting the airtrain, you'd get on the A train through to Manhattan, you can get off at chambers street, but then you're a 2 block walk away from the hotel, as the A/C train is in a slightly different location to the 1/2/3 that is directly outside the hotel..
you could change trains at Fulton Street, to the 1/2 line, then get off at Chambers St, and take the NORTH EAST exit (all exits are labled this way, so you know what side of the street your walking onto, and then you'd see starbucks / cosmo right in front of you..
bear in mind, very few stations have escalators or lifts, so you'll be dragging your bags up the stairs...0 -
Decision made then, for $50 it will be taxi there and back. Can I just check i would ask for "chambers and west broadway, via the brooklyn bridge"? Taxi driver may be impressed that I know what I am talking about when I dont, can't manage any more conversation than that as I haven't really a clue where I am going! Just to say have a great holiday as I think you are off tomorrow? We are off on 7 April, hope we get a nice room, anyway, look forward to hearing all about your trip together with any other suggestions about where to go ( pubs excluded of course!)0

well, its $45 plus tip, and tip is supposed to be around 20%...
and yeah..
"chambers and west broadway, via brooklyn bridge"
this is probably the most direct route regardless, but it states which route you want to take, and avoids tolls on the other bridges/tunnels..
this is if you're flying into JFK / LaGuardia i must add.. if you're flying into Newark, well its a different story!!!0 -
ok... i'd love to keep helping, but even I need a holiday sometime..
I'm off to.. New York... tomorrow morning, so probably won't be around much for the next week... have fun, and i'll be back with a guide to TriBeCa.. so you know exactly how much stuff is near the Cosmopolitan Hotel..

Gone ... or have I?0 -
Agree with Mark, just find your way around, loadsa places to eat and by far the best and most memorable are when you stumble across a place.
Will say though, don't go to bond's (under millenium broadway) it was thoughly disappointing.
Cafe edison is good fun though, it's in an old theatre so great character, and has a "new yorky" feel because it's not a chain.
We went to NY a while ago, and went to the BB Kings Bar. We went to the Gospel Brunch (although me and my partner are far from religious, we thought it would be an experience) You have a buffet style lunch, and entertainment from the Harlem Gospel Choir. It was brilliant to see everyone up and singing and dancing, especially all the Afro-American women all dressed up in their fancy clothes. It was great.
It's always a sell out, so you're best booking your tickets online like we did, and collect them when you get there (but dont forget your receipt and the card you booked them with)

Not sure where to post this, but how do you rate the Airtrain from JFK, need to get to Times Square on a Sunday afternoon - is it fairly simple and reliable?0
