Didn't manage to explore everything, got to wait till next time now I suppose!!:D
But one other place is the rodizio place that I went to, fixed price of about $60 and then it was pretty much all you can eat and ok its not cheap but it was so good!!! Couldn't keep track of all the different meat we had to eat! Its on West Broadway and the website is https://www.churrascariatribeca.comoooh look only about 220 posts and I got round to doing my Avatar already!!0 -
Just got back from 5 days in New York. The guide books were good preparation but not as good as the advice offered in this forum - many thanks to all those who have posted. The New York Pass www.newyorkpass.com more than paid for itself - particularly since there was 20% discount on the website.
A few additions which might be helpful:
Ellen's Stardust Diner (Next to the Winter Gardens on Broadway) is well worth a visit. From about 8.30am, young Broadway hopefuls sing as they wait tables - great atmosphere & good food.
At Ground Zero (on Vesey Street by the entrance to the PATH station) there is information about the attack and the plans for the memorial. There you'll find "Piper" who plays "Bridge Over Troubled Water" on his flute all day long and Harry Reynolds (The History Man) who was there when the buildings fell and returns every day to tell his story and ask "How many World Trade Center Buildings were destroyed on 9/11?" (The answer is 7!!)
If you want to save on airport transfer costs and your hotel is near the subway, the modern Airtrain ($5) loops past all JFK terminals before linking to the Subway system ($2. Use the E train - its express). For $7 you can be in Manhatten in less time than a taxi if the roads are busy. All subway tickets cost $2 regardless of distance and a Day Pass costs $7. A subway map is here:

Hey everyone,
Just a quick one to say that the DEKK restaurant is totally closed down, took a little while to find it then realized we were on the wrong street ddduuuhhh!!!!
Anywho just had to say we love the Square dinner on Leonard Street (down west broadway towards SoHo) does a really great breakfast which filled us up all day so we didn't have to bother with lunch. Also we discovered a really nice Vietnamese Restaurant called Hoi An which did lovely food. That is down West Broadway as well.
It has been really cold this week but that just added to the experience (would hate to be here in the summer!!!) so don't forget to pack your thermals if your here in the next few weeks. What was lovely was that it had snowed just before we landed and it was magical.
Love
