Aww! You will probably end up winning a 7* Holiday with a naked butler:D
New York always has good deals because it is a very popular destination.
I need a holiday now but I don't have anyone to go with:o
Travelling alone isn't for me ,I prefer having other people around to point out the sights/fetch things for me;) :rotfl:
Well I'll tell you what, when I win that holiday, I will send you the butler to go on hols with.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
I could do a Sex and the city tour , i'll be the one at the back hacking to death:D
Hope you feel better soon. Yeah we booked to go on that in May and they didn't turn up! My mate went on it and said it was FAB U LOUS.:D

I just stayed at the Hotel Wellington, it was more than suitable and a good location near Times Square and Central Park;)0

The tour leaders didn't turn up?! Hope your money was returned? You can't visit New York without doing a Sex and the city tour (my OH doesn't agree but what do men know?;) )
Nope, they said they did turn up and we were going home the next day so had no time to chase it up...........
My OH didn't mind going on it, bless him.Though he got out of it in the end..lucky for him...

Depends what you call good location, that is indeed central, but I have stayed in the midst of it all, and more recently stayed in Greenwich Village....much preferred the Village, felt like I was really staying in NY, a real local feel about it, and not difficult at all to get to the busy places.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
Can anyone recommed a book for a first timer to NYC please? Was recommended Brits Guide to Florida last year when travelling to Florida this Easter. Is the Brits Guide to New York any good?
Also has anyone seen Mamma Mia on Broadway? What did you think? Thinking of it for my 40th in March if we can get tickets? Where is recommended to buy tickets?
Have so far booked flights from Bristol, bit more expensive than other airports but worth it for convenience. Researching hotels at mo.

We found the Brits Guide to New York really helpful - restaurants etc - we referred to it a lot. Can recommend it.0 -
I would advise you to not buy a guidebook but rather read www.wikitravel.org for a bit and print off the key information. When you get to NY buy a copy of Time Out NY (www.timeout.com/newyork) and it'll give you what's happening that week. The internet is the way forward on travel information especially for such a popular destination.

If you don't like the service in a restaurant where gratuity is automatically added to the bill are you allowed to cross it out and just pay the price of the meal?? Was very tempted to do that once but didn't have the balls in the end.
Also while I'm here just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone on here, especially Markymoo for his guides, and all the other various bits of info that I have spent hours reading, as I have just booked a little break to NYC for next Feb and I'm very excited!! Flying with BA and 4 nights accommodation at Hotel Metro (inc breakfast) for a smidge over £1000 for the 2 of us. Can't wait now so thanks again to everyone for answering all my questions before I had chance to ask them!
I'm staying here for in April. Hopefully, you'll put up a review of the hotel.:j0
