Sorry about my spelling, not my strong point.
Yes was possibly looking at queens, just so we can get a decent hotel at a decent rate, if the subway is safe then that seems like a good idea.
Thanks for the help.0 -

i was joking about the spelling.. not being serious...
yeah... queens is an ok area, brooklyn is a lot nicer... it can take up to an hour to get from queens into manhattan, so what you have to think about is that you can't just pop back to the hotel for a quick drop off of shopping bags, and then head out and sightsee.... it could eat up quite a bit of your day..
have you checked rates for the cosmopolitan or the pod hotel, both very reasonable in manhattan..
what is your budget per night? or didn't you think about the cost of hotels before you booked your flight. ?!0 -
To be honest we didnt really think about it, we usually just book a cheap flight somewhere and sort hotel out afterwards, it's never been this much of a problem.
I suppose it makes sense to pay a bit more and stay in a good location, the Cosmopolitan is about 945 + tax which is a bit steep. The Pod is about $585, which seemed alot a couple of days ago when i first saw it but actually now I look at it I think we might go for this, good reviews on trip advisor too.

Hi Whittboy. My girlfriend and i have booked up for 5 nights from the 4th November. We went for the virgin flights from expedia for £330 with the £50 duty free voucher(will get cigerattes for my dad with that so makes the flight £280). Our dates were set so we were looking for deals for flights and hotel for a few weeks. We ended up catching the best western convention center hotel on expedia for £117 a nite inc taxes. I was uncertan about booking the hotel first as i would never normally do that but took the plunge as i was sure it was a good deal. We were lucky in that the next day one of the nites had sold out and the others had gone up to £180. The hotel is a 5 min walk to the bus terminal, 10 mins to macys and 10 mins to times square. I've been before but my girlfriend hasn't. I think its important for a first timer to be above ground as much as possible so being able to walk to most things from the hotel was a must for me. My advice is to keep checking expedia, hotels.com and the rest of the sites everyday like we did and as soon as a decent deal comes up (sub £150 for us) then don't hesitate to book it.
We've bought the 7 day new york pass to give us the flexibilty for each day we're there, plus there are a few discounts we will use off it. We plan on going to the outlet twice at the beginning and the end. We're are big shoppers and love the outlets in america, and the new york one for me has been the best ive been to. We get 15% off with the pass. Also gonna do the ice skating in central park which is bogof. We'll get $10 a day at planet hollywood, so whenever we're passing we can grab a keyring or something. maybe have lunch there on the last day. Only thing not on it is the top of the rock which i haven't done before, but will be doing for certain.
We're also going to see the knicks on the 5th. Its only against Charlotte(crap so my brother tells me), but my girlfriend is very excited about it (esp getting a foam finger) and she wont know that the teams are poor. The tickets went on presale friday but its only certain ones. The rest get released fridays.0 -

For anyone who's thinking of staying in Brooklyn, I'd consider it. I'm living in Brooklyn and it only takes about 20 minutes to get to Manhattan, and the subway is 24 hours. Plus it feels more "real" here.0
