Our experience of Oak Furniture Land has been excellent.

We ordered a large sideboard, lamp table and nest of tables from them last year and the quality was excellent, as was the customer service.

Looking back over the last few pages I can't help noticing that pretty much every single 'complaint' comes from a new user who posts once and then disappears. Competitors employees perhaps? I suspect so! Who's have thought that ever went on?! :rotfl:

Anyway, ignore the sock-trolls! Our experience (as a genuine customer) has been fantastic!

These are genuine complaints. I am currently going through the complaints process with them now. Just find there facebook page then click on Posts to Page and you will see my post and 100s of others (including pictures) of the terrible quality.

I am glad you had a good service. But believe you me you definitely appear to be in the minority.

I dare say all you goods arrived in perfect condition and you were happy and extremely lucky.
When you say the customer service was excellent, did you actually speak with them? From my own experience they are the worst I have come across and judging by many others on this thread, they experienced the same.

If you receive a product in perfect condition then everything is great and you are happy, but when goods arrive not as expected, you expect good customer service as a backup.
This does not exist with the company, everything is made difficult and wears you down.
I would never use this Company again!!

So you are a geniune customer, maybe, but so is everyone else on this thread me included, but then again you could be an employee of this dreadful Company.

We've got one of their stores nearby so no need for us to order online. Exactly the same goods & prices but prefer to see furniture in 'the flesh'. We love this store and the quality of goods we've purchased is absolutely 1st class. Have no qualms recommending company.
  • We've had our Baku King-size bed for a little over a year. Over this time a few pieces have broken off including the strut supports (that were poorly put together to start with) and we've corrected this ourselves. We've cared for the wood as recommended and it's been under no duress at any point.

Yesterday one of the struts snapped through completely and on inspection the wood had old rot in the middle and the whole piece was essentially garbage. It was clear that this piece of wood was inherently flawed and on inspection of some of the other pieces it looks like they all may share this issue.

I understand we're out of warranty (1 year - maybe a bit short for a solid product you pay over £400 for) but thought i would try to call customer service to purchase a replacement piece and in the hope they would look at the wood and realise it should never have been sent in this condition.

Customer service were thoroughly rude as soon as they realised I was out of warranty. I asked about purchasing the piece to be informed they no longer make it (despite it being on the website), then being told it was made differently now. I asked to purchase the different piece (same wood) and was told this was not possible when I asked why I was hung up on.

At no point did I raise my voice, lie or swear and from their customer service supervisor (my wife called later and was informed this was her role) this is absolutely abhorrent customer service.

So to sum up. The customer service was appalling and the product was weak and below par. If you've purchased from them check your product now and highlight any potential issues as soon as possible if it's still in warranty or risk have a load of expensive fire wood. Above all else hope they don't just hang up on you as this seems to be their approach to unhappy customers.
  • Glad I read this, looks like I'll save up more and just head to John Lewis. Ironic that OFL sit next to another terrible firm on the retail estate, SCS

I am yet another dissatisfied customer of OFL. I made the mistake of buying a table and 6 chairs online. 3 of the chairs were damaged, and the table looked like 2 separate halves joined in the middle, as the wood was so obviously dis-similar in colour and grain. James in 'Customer Services' argued that it is wood and as it is a natural material it could not be identical. I explained that it could not have been less similar, and would need to be covered with a tablecloth! Having spent over £1K I foolishly expected to be treated with some respect. Check out the 'Ts&Cs' that you dont get to see until you have spent your hard earned cash.....
Outcome-I told them to cancel the entire order and have had £100 taken off my refund for collection charges, even though the collecting company made no effort to label which boxes were damaged goods and which were not, which leads me to believe they all go back to the same warehouse and get sent out again to the next unsuspecting customer. Caveat emptor!

I have just spent approx. £800.00 with this company and all I can say is buyer beware!!
Customer services are a very unpleasant place to be if something is wrong with the item or Item's you have purchased.

I purchased three items from Oak Furniture Land and was assured it was of the best quality and hand crafted and heavily discounted! This description I found out was their loop-hole for customer services.

E.g. If you complain that the item is badly put together THE REPLY IS HAND CRAFTED WHAT DO YOU EXPECT!!
If you say the wood shelf is not central or resting on the horizontal supports HAND CRAFTED AND RUSTIC AS IN THE TITLE OF THE FURNITURE WHAT DO YOU EXPECT
But the one in your showroom was perfect? I THINK YOU SHOULD SEND PICTURES OF YOUR PROBLEM. NO THAT LOOKS FINE ITS HAND CRAFTED. Silly me of cause it is!!

I know! I will send an email to the MD with photos. Phone call that very afternoon THE MD AND MYSELF (Personal Assistant) THINK THE CONSUL TABLE YOU HAVE PURCHASED IS FINE AND THAT IS THE END OF THIS MATTER, but the shelf is 6mm shy of the legs on one side but touching on the other! IF WE SENT A REPLACEMENT WE COULD NOT GUARANTEE IT WOULD BE BETTER THAN THE ONE YOU HAVE!
I will be taking this further. IS THAT A THREAT? In a physical way no, in a legal way Yes..
    End of phone call.

Well that just about sums up my dealings with Jason Bannister's new empire OakFurnitureLand only to say buyer beware....
To return the item's within 7 Days will cost you £50.00 per item if they say the item is fine via email or phone.

On looking at the very high volume of complaints about this company, I wish I had checked the internet first before purchasing

Sorry to hear that your experience has been similar to mine. Did you email Jason Bannister?

  • We recently bought a quantity of furniture from Oakfurnitureland. One piece, the TV corner unit, arrived damaged - hardly surprising really, as the packing wasn't all it could have been. I emailed them some photos of the damage and followed that up with a couple of phone calls and within a week a replacement was delivered. We're really pleased with the furniture, and the service we received.

My advice for buying furniture is do your research in your own home, rather than wander into the large out of town sheds.

There's a british furniture manufacturers website with links to their member company websites.

Find a local supplier who deals with the manufacturers on a daily basis and go and talk to them. It won't cost you anymore.
