  • I've bought a small oak sideboard from OFL and was very pleased with it. It looks the business and I was quite prepared to buy from them again.

However........having gone onto their Facebook page I was horrified by the amount of negative comments about the standard of some of the furniture they were sending out and their customer services seem to leave a lot to be desired. Although I realise that a lot of people only post on the internet when dissatisfied, never the less there was an awful lot of negative comments, mostly to do with the fact that the furniture was broken/damaged on receipt and OFL seem to think that it's perfectly acceptable to send out someone to "repair" brand new furniture.

So regrettably, I won't be ordering any more furniture from them, which is a shame as it is lovely when undamaged. I consider myself fortunate that I didn't experience the problems that other buyers have had.
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.
  • I would really like to recommend this company as the products look great and the prices seem really good value BUT I bought a sofa from them in November and by December the support had gone in one of the cushions. It could be a spring or it could be the foam. We have had an inspector out who did give a recommendation but OFL have refused to follow this and have said that there is nothing wrong with the sofa. Excuse me? Are you the ones that actually sit on it?
We are currently in dispute. They don't seem to want to listen to us. After six weeks we are finally getting another inspector out but I don't know if they are going to budge on this one. I am still waiting for their complaints policy after numerous reminders. I don't think they have one. Emails go unanswered. Spelling and grammar go unchecked. Calls are sent to the wrong number. I get the feeling that the attitude is we've got your money and now we don't care.

I will update this posting if I get a positive result but so far would not use again and would not recommend. Sorry.
  • I have an Alto sideboard and cabinet from OFL and have been watching for a price reduction on the matching computer desk (which for some reason is almost the same price as the sideboard, in spite of having less material in it).
Curiously, after a couple of years of waiting, it remains the same price, regardless of sales, special offers and reductions coming and going. It is, however, like all OFL products, shown as having a "reduced" price.
On questioning this with them, the predictable answer was received - that they conform with the legal requirements for showing a reduced price. I presume from that, that they offer it for the "normal price" for the minimum period, in one branch (somewhere). In short, buy it at the standard price or not at all - don't ever wait for a discount!

I had a bad experience with this company. I bought a table from them and it vanished.
  • Hi

I have found that smaller independents provide better all year round prices, then these dodgy "sales" prices from these retailers.

I found the exact same "rustic oak" range cheaper at Charlies pine & oak furniture with their everyday price then in the oak furniture lands sale, which they then of course have to increase the price for a 2 week min, to be able to reduce to the laughable sale price.

Do yourself a favour, if you find something you like, check out some smaller independant stores, you could even do a reverse image search. It will be worth it

The Two Faces of Oak Furniture Land (https://www.oakfurnitureland.co.uk)

If you have or intend to purchase from Oak Furniture Land (JB Global), please read this cautionary tale very carefully. If you have been one of the very fortunate few and actually received items undamaged and structurally sound and have not had cause to contact the Customer Services Department, with any sort of complaint, you might be happy now but it seems that from all the negative posts, as far back as 2012 problems are just around the corner. However, I digress, here is my personal experience of the ugly face of Oak Furniture Land.

Please be under no illusion this company’s work force are totally and utterly incompetent, and to make matters even worse they are led by their wholly inept Managing Director Mr Jason Bannister. Mr Bannister is in total control by himself and enforces and directs his workforce dictatorially to carry out his working practises. He most definitely hasn’t taken on board yet, that alienating your customer base at every opportunity does not make good business sense. He is in the volume people business now, with an expanding showroom network to look after, not just another faceless internet company of the “phoenix variety”. When the vast majority of customers never want to experience this sort of treatment again, the demise of Oak Furniture Land will be inevitable. Mr Bannister is obviously a very smug know-it-all sort of individual and he won’t see it coming because he is a people exploiter!

And now to the Customer Service division. Well!! Their only undoubted skill lies in their ability to insult, belittle, patronise, ignore, avoid and evade resolving any problems to their customer’s satisfaction, especially if you have the audacity to ask for a damaged/faulty item to be replaced. You have no chance at all, that is until they force you to jump through their many avoidance tactics, the first being their very willing Partners, in crimes against furniture restoration; Homeserve Furniture Repairs Limited. Short hand I think for very limited ability. Specialists in their field, so they say!

Homeserve certainly seem to specialise in recruiting rejects, with very poor eyesight. So please let me save you the heartache, because when you show their restorer the fault or damage, they will immediately down play and dismiss your concerns as hardly worth bothering about, then immediately try to convince you that they can restore it to “showroom condition” in no time at all. Well, I witnessed this process first hand and watched very carefully what he did. First he melted a blob of tan coloured plastic resin onto the damaged area and then with a box of coloured wax crayons, attempted to mimic the colour and grain of the wood. After he had finished sculpturing and spray lacquering his masterpiece, he then declared to me that in his opinion he had succeeded in returning it to “showroom condition”. Well, now suddenly the shoe is on the other foot, and you are not seeing what he says he is seeing, a multi-coloured scab applied to your brand new piece of furniture, restored to “showroom condition” he maintains, again then short hand for, hide it in a darkened room and show no one.

And now for his clowning glory, the after restoration photographs, an area of illusion that they do indeed excel at, they really are specialists in producing photographs that do not show the true look of the furniture to the naked eye. Homeserve certainly are “masters of disguise” at that. But of course, these are what they upload to Oak Furniture Land and what Customer Services are looking at when you have to contact them again and try in vein to convince them that there are still unresolved issues, so you are then back on the merry-go-round. Please help and spread the word in any way you can to stop these pedlars of misery inflicting this on anyone you know or care about.

P.S. No, the issues I have, have still not been resolved, 9+ weeks on! Yes, I may need to “vent my spleen” again on this matter in the near future.

Our experience of Oak Furniture Land has been excellent.

We ordered a large sideboard, lamp table and nest of tables from them last year and the quality was excellent, as was the customer service.

Looking back over the last few pages I can't help noticing that pretty much every single 'complaint' comes from a new user who posts once and then disappears. Competitors employees perhaps? I suspect so! Who's have thought that ever went on?! :rotfl:

Anyway, ignore the sock-trolls! Our experience (as a genuine customer) has been fantastic!

Sorry, I felt the need to have to respond to this comment.

A large number of consumers (myself included) 'fail' to investigate a company online everytime they make a purchase (a hard lesson I am now learning) and this forum was not the first to appear when I started to look online for Oak Furniture Land complaints! As we are all aware, to be able to comment/quote/thank/post/discuss any issues yourself, you must be a registered user (or register) to each and every forum/website. This is why there are a large number of 'Newbies' with this type of discussion. I myself have had to register (as a newbie) to some of them, to share my experience. I was lucky when I stumbled across this thread, as I was already a member and a 'genuine customer'. I'm not saying that all newbies are genuine, I'm just saying don't disregard them all.
  • I had my wardrobe and chest of drawers from them, we ordered in store.

The delivery was quick but did get a bit messed around by the delivery guys, scheduled for 3-6pm, rang at 11am and said outside your house, I was at work, couldn't get off, they get a bit annoyed but pointed out they were 4 hours early! They sat and waited until I could get off at about 1pm.
  • i feel i must reply to your post-i am a new customer to OFL-their service up until delivery was faultless-i spent almost £2500 on a table and chairs and 2 sideboards-they looked nice and quality in showroom seemed good-however i know occasionally you do end up with a damaged good upon delivery but this is usually resolved easily with customer services-not OFL.
their policy not clearly explained whilst purchasing is repair then replace.
my table has a large dent and split in corner. i've sent photos but they still say it can be repaired-steam and wax-i'm not having any type of filler used to build up a table corner.
I have had two independent people in the furniture trade-Erkol and DFS look at this and they say it needs to be repaired in a factory-cut the end off and bond a new piece of wood on.
i will be posting a full post later as i am i negotiations with OFL-
yes the company may be good until you have deal with them over a complaint
