After looking instore for the furniture I wanted I brought a Mango Sideboard and coffee table from Oak Furniture land online. I read reviews afterwards and immediately got nervous, I should not have been.

the sideboard came perfect, i would honestly of chosen the one delievered over the one I saw in the shop as it was perfect and well packed.

The coffee table had two cracks running along two joints. I thought from the reviews this was going to be the start of my problems with teh customer services.

I uploaded three photos as well advertised first if there were any problems, I got a phone call by the end of that day.

I have to admit there was no discussions or explanations on this call, just an appology from the very polite call taker saying it obviously had been knocked and scheduled a repalcement to be with me eight days later.

This arrived on time and at the same time they picked the first one up.

both times the delivery men were approachable and helpful, putting the boxs where I wanted and took their boots off so as not to get mud on my carpet.

I cant fault Oak Furniture land and will buy from again.

  • Just ordered £1700 of stuff from OFL to go with the stuff we bought in 2010 and 2013. Both those were pleasant experiences, items arrived well packaged, on time, delivery drivers were polite enough etc and luckily the items were fine. Roll round to the latest delivery which again was well packaged, delivery was fine etc but some items were damaged.
Now it's clear the damage was done in the factory pre packing so not damaged in transit, just poor quality control in China. The table has had a smack on the corner and split the wood, the extending section has a dink on it and 2 chairs have splits on the legs. The customer services girl gave me the offer of £30 off the order to shut up and go away or a repair as the damage seemed to her to be 'minor' by looking at the extensive photos they make you send. I have a repair man coming soon so we'll see what sort of job he makes. But I pushed for replacement expecting to just exchange the items, afterall, I paid for perfect items not seconds that have been patched up. Got nowhere. Clearly they don't care once you've paid your money. Like everyone else, if your items arrive ok you think they're a perfectly good company (as I did off the back of my previous two experiences, hence using them again), but if not then the problems start. So it's up to you if you want to take that risk...
We needed the matching furniture so are just going to have to live with the damage it seems and hope the cracks don't come to anything over time, and I'm sure I'll damage the extending bit of the table myself over time as they're so fiddly to remove but that's not really the point. They say they'll just replace damaged items but they don't, they'll fight you all the way.
Thankfully we're only 1 bed frame away from furnishing the house so fingers crossed that arrives in one piece when we order that next year!
  • I do not say this lightly but this is one company you should avoid like the plague. I bought a CD storage unit on which the top plinth was not straight, one side having been sanded down to almost a curve instead of a right angle. Hannah and Markus, both from customer services decided that this was not a fault and was within tollerances for hand made furniture. Obviously a pre practised reply and they refused to replace the item. I believe all of the furniture is made abroad, obviously by total novices and not by qualified carpenters. They should have a banner across the top of their website stating "All furniture hand made by amateurs so don't expect it to be straight because since its hand made it doesn't need to be". Before you buy check out the negative feedback on Facebook. You don't have to be a member.
  • i ordered a chunky 6ft table, with 6 chairs and matching wine cabinet.

Items arrived very well packaged to say the least, almost over the top in fact how much packaging was used to protect the goods!! Everything looks identical to the show room finish, no damage to report at all!

I came across this forum after ordering and was dreading the delivery, thankfully i had nothing to worry about at all.

Based on my order i would use them again as the items were delivered when they said they would and everything is perfect condition with nothing to complain about at all.

Hopefully none of the wood warps or anything like that :j

An update on the repairs I had - he was a lovely chap that came from a third party company OFL use for their extended warranty stuff and did a great job on the repairs to the chairs so full credit to him for that - the table remains split as he can't do much about that so I just have to accept when they say 'handmade' (in China), damage like that can be classed as acceptable by OFL. I just hope it doesn't get any worse over time.

The repair man did say he'd gone to some awful jobs that morally he felt wrong repairing as the customer isn't paying for repaired furniture, but OFL nearly always refuse to replace/exchange anything unless it's smashed to pieces. So those customers on here who have had exchanges done I can only summise you either all spoke to the one person who works there who's not towing the company line and believes in real customer service, or you work for OFL!

We were looking for some new bedroom furniture but after reading this thread was put off using oak furniture land. We visited the local store anyway and the items looked perfect for our room so we decided to come home and order them online. Being a bit weary I chose the buy now pay later option so if we did have any issues they do not have any of our money and we could battle it out with the finance company.

Fortunately the items all arrived well packaged in great condition.

Only downside was the delivery driver was meant to phone me 30mins before he was here so I could drive home from work to take the delivery. He phoned when he was down my street so he had to wait.

To any customer reading this review. Save your money and run. AVOID Oak furniture Land.

I will tell you why. My wife and I bought a new house and decided to buy some solid wood furniture that would last, so we thought lets go to oak furniture land. We spent over £4000 to kit out our house and we regret ever buying from them.

These are the problems we have had:
A split in the dining room table. They sent someone out to fix it and did a bodge job at repairing it.
Double bed - Middle support leg would not fit. Took them 7 months and about 9 different legs and still it would not fit. In the end they sent someone out and he ended up cutting bits out of the leg so it would fit.
King sizes bed - The sides expanded so the slats would just fall through. They replaced the bed and then that bed did exactly the same (this was after they said they put the bed together and checked it before it went out for delivery, which was a complete lie). We then had yet another replacement but decided to have the same design as the double bed we purchased (as we were fed up with the two beds they sent us with the same issue). When we received the new bed they had changed the design without telling us.
Mattress - We have now gone through two mattresses. The circular bobbles that keep the bed together came apart, five of them in total on the first mattress and now three have gone on the second
Chest of draws - We purchased two matching chest of draws and have now had three replacements because of woodworm, yes woodworm and yes three times. We are now having one refunded but they will not refund the other, which means we will have to buy another chest of draws from another company which will not match.

Customer service has been appalling and if I hear anyone say to me ‘I understand’ one more time I'm going to scream. We have had no compensation for all the issues, stress and time wasted sitting in waiting for a delivery or for the amount of emails and photos I have had to send. The only thing they will do is refund the faulty item or replace it which they are happy to do. If I had a refund on everything I had a problem with we would not have any furniture left.

I will NEVER purchase anything every again from Oakfurniture Land and would advise anyone who is looking to buy some solid wood furniture to go elsewhere.

Am I missing something here? Just get the faulty item replaced then?
  • Do not buy from Oak Furniture Land

Purchased an Oak Table and 6 leather chairs two weeks ago.
Delivered 12 days ago and table now has two splits in the top wood. One each side of the table. Phone OFL to get a replacement and was reasonable asked to photograph and send images so they could see problem. After doing this they phoned back and offered £45 compensation or someone to come out and assess and fill and repair. Told then I wanted a new table to replace the agreed faulty one. They refused. Told them to come and collect table and chairs and refund my money. The will do this but will charge me £57 carriage for the 6 chairs as they are not faulty. I said I like the chairs so just refund me for the table. OFL then said they will collect table but I need to pay more money to hold on to chairs as they were bought as a discount set. The charge price for the chairs was more than is presently on their website.
As I purchased with credit card I have handed over to credit card company to get money back.
Again. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY
  • We just spent £2,000 on OFL furniture for our living room (a decision that was 2 years in the making, involving several visits to the shop and finally being able to cobble the money together!).

Furniture was delivered on Wednesday. I wasn’t in, but my wife tells me the delivery men were extremely friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn’t like was they don’t take the packaging away. I was aware of this beforehand, but I’ve already made 2 trips to the tip and am probably only halfway through!

The furniture is absolutely stunning. The quality and workmanship is exemplary. I've inspected most of it very closely as they advise coating it in beeswax, which I've meticulously done and I am more than halfway through.

I'm sorry to hear some of the horror stories above but I'm pleased to say that so far, so good. Perhaps the company only become a problem to deal with if and when there’s an issue? I have to say that the cynical side of me always takes negative comments from a newly registered site user with a pinch of salt (apologies newbies!) in case it’s a rival company etc.

I've only had the items a few days but to comment on the ordering and delivery process – plus our initial thoughts on quality of product - we’re extremely happy and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the company. I hope I can continue to say this in a few years’ time! :p
