I purchased a table for a few hundred from the company and within a month the surface degraded with various scuffs and shavings in different places of different degrees.
Absolutely furious that this happened I was plain and simply told that I should have read the terms and conditions booklet for my table.
Come again - that's right, if you buy a table then ensure you read the terms and conditions because according to Oakland Furniture their tables actually degrade with furniture polish!!!! And they expect you to have read their booklet to know that! (round of applause for the customer service team being well versed in UK law)
SO as daft as it sounds read the terms and conditions booklet when you buy furniture from this company because once you've bought it then they don't care if anything happens to it. They have their protective booklet to hide behind.
Nice con Oakland Furniture. Well done on stealing my money and conning me into buying your terrible quality products.
Well done.0 -
Thought I would let you know our experiences with oak furniture land, We spent over £7000 with this company. I had to postpone the initial delivery due to moving house, the move was postponed for roughly 3 months so i had to have the furniture delivered to my now
old address before we moved, I should of checked the furniture there and then, but i didn't want to unpack it all only to repack everything back up ready to move again as there was roughly 30 boxes.
One of the pieces of furniture a draw in a unit was damaged when I unpacked it from its original packaging at the new property on about 18-19th august. the packaging was not damaged when I unpacked the item. I phoned oak furniture land explained the situation and they told me to phone the care line as I had also taken out extra accidental damage
coverage. I| rang care line who advised me I couldn't claim as it wasn't accidental damage and I had a 12 month manufacturers warranty guarantee and to get back in touch with oak furniture land. So I rang furniture land back up and was advised to respond to an email they had sent providing them with photos of the damage and they would be back within two days with a resolution. four days passed so I rang oak furniture land back explained the situation again and was told they had made the decision the damage wasn't a manufacturers fault and because of the following points there was nothing they could do. So I am left
with a defective piece of furniture nobody is willing to take responsibility for to rectify.
Is there anyway you could look into this to try and get this resolved for me I would be
eternally grateful.
Yours Faithfully
Ashleigh Spence

(1)i hadn't opened and checked each item when it was delivered
(my answer)I know I should of opened each item, but I didn't want to unpack every item only to repackage everything back up ready to move
(2)the item was discounted when I purchased it.
(my answer)The item was on a promotional sale. It shouldn't matter whether the item was discounted or not, they did't advise me when I brought it that it's discounted and could be damaged as I would't buy a damaged item.
(3)because I had moved property the damage must of been sustained then so oak furniture land were not responsible
(my answer)The contents of my house were removed by a reputable company (Pickfords) and pickfords caused no damage to any of my posessions during the relocation.0 -
We went into the store at Ocean Park Portsmouth the sales man was a true gent , we found our ideal table and chairs , the cost was appealing with the interest over 4 years , 3 week delivery , it turned up two days later , great here we go , put it all together , found damage on the table , no problem I rang there head office , they wanted pictures of the damage to access, so of I went and took pics , sent them in and rang them again only to have them say they will send a professional out to repair the damage , I said I have just paid over £1000 and don't want a repaired table we haven't had it 24 hrs yet , he said this is the only option , I then asked if you replace the top I would be happy with the process , he replied that not an option , so then I mentioned option 3 take the whole order back and cancel the whole order , he said that's fine but wanted £39 paid immediately by myself to collect the whole order and refund the item , I then said I am not happy to do this as its there problem in the first place , they then said the only way I would not incur charges is to deliver the order to there head office and distribution center in SWINDON .I was up their from Portsmouth at 8 am the following morning ( love a challenge ) ,
they then tried to say we don't take returns here and have no record of the conversation with me ,
I delt with a young lady from there office and she excepted the goods , I dropped it of at their loading bay 1, their guys in the warehouse were great and helped with the unload of my truck , ( thanks to the lady in the office , and the boys in the loading bay ) there is real people at OFL
Other problems I noticed all the joints with the chairs and table were done with a pocket jig ,and not tenons like most of the competitors I have been back to OFL today and taken pictures of the shoddy workmanship of the chairs , it is cheaply made mass produced and unfinished , you are given a tin of wax and asked to apply once you take delivery , you will need to sand it first as its rough to the touch and in need of a lot of work to look like there showroom stuff ,

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY0 -
Hi, I realise it's been a while since you posted. I have 25 pictures of damage and poor workmanship this very day. Avoid buying from then whatever you do. How do I and you the pics?0

That's just the point - they don't replace. My goods were in a shocking state, I called them and was first offered £45 to go away and shut up (not an option) then they offered me my money back. I said I didn't want my money back, I wanted a replacement. They would definitely not replace. So I am having my money back AFTER they have got the item back. I only received the goods yesterday. I have 28 pics of quite a few big faults and numerous not quite so big faults. Anybody know how I can put them online as a warning?0

I can't see why anyone would buy their shoddy goods. Went in at the weekend, horrendous stuff, through it was superseded by a visit to SCS. One guy was showing council housed people a 'delightful' black sofa and another tried to flog us another sofa. I politely thanked him and said it was very kind of the firm to employ blind designers but we aren't his target market.0

Our Mango dining suite was appallingly made. Poor jointing, draws that stick and cupboard doors that won't open. Please spend your money elsewhere. We wasted over £2500.0

people dont value good hardwood hand mde products anymore. Everyone seems to want the latest cheap furniture design from ikea. "Oh look iPad is white, white is the new thing, I want me whole bedroom is cheap white particle board"
There are tonnes of solid oak TV cabinets on ebay right now, absolutely spoilt for choice. It's a "buyers market" on second hand furniture on ebay. The auction model means that the seller needs at least two people who really want the furniture to outbid each other. If there's only 1 interested buyer then the auction goes for dirt cheap.0 -

Looks like they didn't settle the wood at room temperature before cutting it up and joing it, so the timber has started to expand/shrink after being build. novice mistake and would expect more for £2500.
At the least their supplier has messed them up and provided them with incorrectly identified oak that wasn't settled correctly. at worst their carpenters are incompetant and got the tolerances wrong.0
