  • I would never use them - they are awful. I ordered a table & chairs, tv unit and coffee table last October and was given a date for delivery - only later to be advised that the table would not be delivered until after xmas, which left me with no dining table for xmas. I also had to pay extra if I wanted the other items delivering earlier, otherwise they would delay the whole order! Anyway, it was nice stuff so I decided to forgive them and then made an order in March for a bed, set up drawers and 2 bedside tables. Again, delivery dragged on and on, and I kept getting told a date then another date and we actually got to August - yes August from March...and even this wasn't guaranteed! Needless to say, customer services were hopeless - clearly advertising items that they haven't got...and I ended up canceling the order. 5 months for a bed?!!!
  • Thankyou for this thread, I was contemplating buying new dining room furniture from there so persuaded DH to drive to Teeside earlier. I liked the table but have to say the rest if the furniture felt flimsy. My Mum has a solid oak dining set and it is much more substantial and she has never waxed it.

DH said no, he preferred our solid pine furniture and having found this I think I am glad I wasn't seduced by the showroom.

My question is tho, I still want an oak dining table as although the rest if my furniture is pine I can't help but feel it's too soft for a formal dining table.

Where can I get a decent quality similar style table to the 4'7 by 3rd table with leather (style) chairs.
Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising

I bought three items from one range from Oakfurnitureland. All three pieces had faults and they refused to replace them. As a compromise they offered a small sum to get a carpenter to fix the faults.

They are obviously selling faulty furniture claiming it is brand new. I don't believe that I could order 3 separate items and for each of these to have their own faults.

I would not recommend this company to anyone despite what oakfurnitureland has already posted on this thread.

I totaly agree i bought an oak dresser? for my wife. When it arrived i could not believe the poor quality of the piece. On first sight it looked ok but on closer inspection it was a far from it.

IT was damaged. The shelves did not fit properly two were even 10mm shorter than they should have been. The whole inside was unsanded it felt like sandpaper. There were even staples on the inside to hold the mid rails and the shelf supports on( staples on a quality piece of furniture i dont think so)
As for top grade solid oak this is no way top grade and the sides back and shelves are more like ply.
I contacted O F L and was told to send photos of the damage/ faults by email which i did but they bounced back. I again contacted them and told them i would send the photos by post which i did.. I waited a few days then contacted them again and they told me they had got them and gave me a date to collect the dresser. Three days after they collected it i again called them to ask why they had'nt refunded my money and was told i had'nt told them it was collected(the courier told me he would tell them? makes sence right) not to these people.
They then told my i would be fully refunded .Nearly a week after still no refund
The bottom line is dont deal with this company unless you want shoddy goods and have to chase them for your money back at your expense
  • I have been waiting since June for £1400+ of products from this company. I have been advised twice that the delivery date has changed..... But they have stated that they will send part of the order (1 item out of the 3) which should arrive on Monday...... Lets see....... Since reading these blogs I have become very nervous about the whole thing......
  • Ordered £1850 of solid oak furniture from them in the middle of September and we received it all last week - cant fault them on the speed of delivery. One annoying thing was the delivery guys due to health & safety wont take shoes off (luckily no mud or dirt was brought in on my nice new carpets haha) but they did take each piece to the requested room (and all the stuff was for the 1st and 2nd floor of a 3 storey townhouse!). However, I did it instore rather than on their website (same prices) - as I know if there were any problems I could go back to the store and kick up fuss. One of the bedside cabinets was damaged (the box had been damaged through to it). I raised a dispute within 24 hours but didn't send any pics through on their website of the damage until today. They called back about 2 hours later offering a replacement or £40 discount. As the damage was on the front I took the replacement. The goods were so heavily packaged I'm surprised there was any damage. Luckily the bedside cabinet packaging was easy to remove and preserve as the cabinets were light enough to lift out. However, everything else the box had to be destroyed to get to it through the layers of cardboard and polystyrene protection (can't fault them there!). Therefore if it was damaged I would have apparently voided any chance of a refund without intact packaging. It was a nightmare to get rid of so much cardboard (not a complaint on OFL). All the goods other than the damaged one were in perfect condition, plus looking at all of them in the showroom helped to see exactly what we were buying, quality, fit and looks wise. I would recommend them if you have a showroom nearby and a free mirror which fits perfectly in our hallway was a bonus. You know this stuff is going to last many more years than the Ikea items we also bought and had to assemble as well as it's of course flatpacked. On another note, they forgot to give me the wax I ordered in the showroom (I thought it would come as part of the delivery), phoned up, no quibbles and they let me pick one up that day (it was on the way home from work so didn't need to kick up a fuss haha).

I had my Oak Furnitureland delivery today - the delivery guys carefully placed the damaged side of the box containing my sideboard up against the wall so I didn't notice it until I came to unpack it this evening.....so annoying. There's a hole in the box that has gone right through to the back of the sideboard that's caved in. Spoke to 'customer services' ;);) who told DH that we have to take a photo of the box, the damage and send it to them. It's still in the box and covered in polystyrene - so the chances of me swinging it round my dining room and damaging it are pretty slim....it also weighs a ton. ;) BEWARE - check boxes as they come in to make sure they're not damaged - I was on a telecon and distracted and they definitely took advantage. Just hoping we get a straight replacement - don't think their offer of french polishing will get rid of the bloomin' great hole in the back!!!

the cairo oak stuff was oak tho some of the drawers now seem to have shifted
the shabby chic mango on which there was a six month delay was a disaster the chest of drawers are solid but poorly finished the drawers dont open properly drawer rails split
the bed was a major disaster the side rails didnt fit and the headboard was cracked
yeah they asked for pics but their website wouldnt upload them
so had to email all in all a hassle
    got the refund
that range has been dropped I see.
  • After being tempted in the showroom and having now read these comments we hunted around for an alternative. I think we are going to give the furniture market a go. Has anyone used them?

I emailed them with some questions this morning and received good, detailed instant email replies. No silly clause about waxing either!

Are these one of those companies that have permanent half price discounts? I find the prices slightly dear even at half price so can't imagine that they would double?! But the website says sale ends in one day!? Anyone know?

We are wanting to buy this item: http://www.oakfurnitureland.co.uk/gbu0-prodshow/398.html

However I am a little nervous using the site as i haven't heard of it before and the money involved quite large - and wait times quite large too!

Alternatively has anyone seen this particular unit being sold elsewhere? I have googled my heart out but can't find this exact unit anywhere else(plenty similar but we want this particular one).

    Thanks for any help.

This website offers a free mirror when you spend over £1000.

    Hope that helps.
