Tesco Shoplifting - need help.

Tesco didn't lie, one particular security guard lied.
As you say, though, I'm sure that Tesco do not want things muddied by personnel not following correct procedures, as they obviously want to be able to prosecute cases where there IS genuine evidence of intent as efficiently and reliably as possible.
Something that will not happen if there is a general perception that they are using dubious means trying to prosecute doubtful cases.
Although I do agree with you a bit even a contracting security guard represents tesco. Tesco are ultimately liable for the actions of all people who represent them so if the security guard did lie it is not totally incorrect to say tesco have lied.
Anyway I seem to remember near the beginning of this thread that there were also some reasonably unpleasant tesco employees in the room afterwards with him.0 -
Tesco also have in involvement in that no manager attended to speak to the op. As yet we don't know exactly why-whether the manager wasn't told or was told and didn't follow procedure.
If it was the latter then tesco played a direct role in this.
Tesco have also played a role by telling the op the cctv is lost.
Whether this is a fact remains to be seen.
It's pointing to very poor management .
Tesco aren't coming out of this smelling of roses.0 -

Tesco have not contributed to this thread at all. Are they guilty just because they are a big business?0 -

No. They've admitted they got it wrong - you do realise that?
I would only use the word they are guilty if they'd been proven guilty in a court of law. Not sure where you are going with this....0 -
I'm aware you are the person who slightly naively asked what targets they had to meet..0

They have contributed to the incident haven't they?
