And yet you've been back to the thread to post a dozen times. Just a slight oversight on your behalf as it is not a dozen posts.
You have to wonder about someone who continually opens a
thread that they tell everyone they find boring. :rotfl:

If it wasn't for people like you continually replying to the thread it would be vastly shorter and would not have been on the first page of the forum index virtually continuously for a fortnight. It is borderline obsessive.
LOL, a perfect case of the pot calling the kettle black.
If you are not interested in a thread, don't keep opening it and posting on it. That's what's 'borderline obsessive.
If you're not interested in the thread, just ignore it and move on.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
So now you are saying Tesco's CEO office are lying to me ?
They say retraining HAS been carried out - so it HAS made a difference...........
Hopefully when your 87 year old Grandma is in a similar situation then she will be treated with a bit more respect.
Dave
I don't think they are lying but they are probably over exaggerating what steps they have taken.
I would suggest the retraining was probably at best just an email with a link to their standard policy when they encounter a shop lifter.
My grandmother died many years ago. Thank you for reopening the grief of that loss0 -

Unlikely.
A retailer as large as Tesco will have very carefully designed policies for dealing with this eventuality (suspected shoplifter), and they will expect them to be adhered to.
Apart from anything else, not adhering to them will mean that it may well be impossible to successfully prosecute in cases where there is a clear case to answer. My grandmother died many years ago. Thank you for reopening the grief of that loss
So, no one is allowed to mention grandmothers because your died 'may years ago'?

I am so sorry if anybody thinks I am borderline obsessive about this.
I just don't like being called a liar/thief.
Surely you don't have to keep returning to the thread ?
Returning to it when you don't want to.........could that be obsessive ?

You are not in the least bit obsessive.
There are certain people on this thread who, for one reason or another have their own particular axe to grind.
When they fail to carry their argument, or get their posts shot down by others with a better grasp of the facts or logical reasoning, they fall back on trying to distract attention by meta-argument - such as whining that the there is no point to the thread.Surely you don't have to keep returning to the thread ?

Well, exactly.
But I suspect some of these people cannot see how daft they look when they continue to post on a thread that they have stated is pointless/boring/past its sell by data. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

DO IT! Tesco are bang out of order by lying to get you convicted! I would also write to a couple of newspapers about this and watch them soon overturn your ban. I am certain that their Head Office/PR team will be up in arms about this.**Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign of a diseased mind**

Tesco didn't lie, one particular security guard lied.
As you say, though, I'm sure that Tesco do not want things muddied by personnel not following correct procedures, as they obviously want to be able to prosecute cases where there IS genuine evidence of intent as efficiently and reliably as possible.
Something that will not happen if there is a general perception that they are using dubious means trying to prosecute doubtful cases.0
