Tesco Shoplifting - need help.

Like all evidence , it's probably what happened way before that point.:)
I take it you are saying that the thief may have made themselves look suspicious before they pick up the item. In my opinion you would still be hard pressed to prove that someone intended to steal the item the second they picked it up no matter what they did beforehand. It's usually what they do afterwards that counts.
Otherwise the thief could say that they were going to steal something but then changed their mind and were going to just buy something instead. Better to obtain proof of them doing things that would indicate dishonesty once they are actually in possession of the item. What will your verse be?

This reminds me of that other thread where you mocked some charity worker who had special needs and tried to charge you for a carrier bag.
Just because some can't spell thieves or is mentally disabled doesn't make them a bad person. You want to really evaluate how you judge people as its not nice at all
I love you you loony0 -

I'm not saying anything of the kind,as your post is rather desperate0 -
I would normally agree , but not knowing the difference between thiefs and thieves whilst saying you are a professional,is not inspiring , and you may benefit from understanding this.
Then quoting the theft act which is basic these days on here, is naive . Why not quote on other points.
You have no experience here . You have no experience of genuinely innocent people who've been stitched up by shops or supermarkets
Your experience is representing people who are disadvantaged, which is excellent but not a good match here.
This thread is a discussion about theft. Of course I'm going to quote the Theft Act. The Theft Act is what defines theft in England and Wales!
Actually my knowledge of the law probably makes me more useful than some of the other people have contributed to this thread, spreading misinformation such as suggesting the OP is guilty of theft simply because of the fact he walked out without paying for items.
Believe it or not, but some of the people I represent actually are not responsible for the offences they are suspected of - so I have experience of helping the innocent too. What will your verse be?

IMHO it's time this thread was put to bed. The OP made a mistake and apologised, Tesco made a mistake and apologised. The Police took no action against either side. Time to move on everyone, there's probably something worse around the corner! :beer:0

Why does a thread have to be put to bed just because the original purpose is no longer relevant? If people don't want to read it there's nobody forcing them to. There are plenty of other threads on here to read and respond to.What will your verse be?

I totally disagree
The issue is, the op did not lie.
Tesco is a big organisation and gets away with this all the time.
Anyone can make a mistake. Most people don't deserve lies.0 -

There have been so many useless contributions-I agree
Don't assume you are the only one who has experience.
There is knowledge of the law then there is experience
I'm sure the disadadvantaged need help too
I don't, I have seen useful contributions from other posters who clearly have some understanding of the law. Especially the guy who I quoted in my first post in this thread.
Btw, if you want to be technical, in an earlier post you said "What the police say goes-end of. It's no problem.". This is not strictly true as an individual or company can bring a private prosecution. They do not need to involve the police or CPS to do that, but the CPS can take over and stop or continue a private prosecution at any time. What will your verse be?
