what would happen is that a credit will be put onto your airtime account and be used towards future bills, including line rental. If you end your contract correctly the airtime company will either say credits back into your bank or send you a cheque. You may have to request this.

Orange and vodafone must know that this is happening because once the airtime has been credited to the bill the customers will be calling them to try and extract the money to their bank accounts. I think they are happy to be holding onto that extra money even if only to earn interest on it.

They wouldnt actually be holding on to the money. When a credit goes on to your account with vodafone, its reduced from the balance on your account or your next bill. Although the money doesnt go into your bank account, its being reduced from money you owe. If the credit is more than your invoice amount, you can ask for vodafone to refund the remaining amount to you.

I've emailed to that address just now and instantly received a "thank you for your email" response, automated obviously. Now i'll just have to see if they send a reply to my question.

Yes Mondo I managed to figure it out when I came back to reread my post in this thread. However there must be someone who is benefitting from not paying the customer in cash and if not the network then it must be dialaphone. I don't know why vodafone or Orange are ok with this.

one paragraph in the paperwork says

"to cancel give us 30 days written notice"

    another one says

"part of the deal is to have the insurance"

i assume to be eligible for cashback i must have the £5.99/month insurance?

bit of a sting in the tail because it takes me from £17pm to £23pm, (still better than what i was on)

def a con since at £25 to claim, after 6 months i will have paid the same as a new phone anyway...

    thanks

Has anyone found a better deal, from a supposed reputable retailer, for the Flext 35 + Web & Walk tariff than dialaphone: £270 cashback with a Motorola Krzr (Im trying to work out the cheapest way to get an N95 on a data tarrif - ie. on three or t-mobile)
