Morning savetilibleed
Glad the switch has gone through. It's not unusual for meter readings to come through at different times. As per my post number 169 above, readings go through a third party who make sure they're in line with the previous usage history for the property. This is an industry wide practice and can sometimes delay things a bit. Don't worry, we're now supplying you and all relevant information will be based on your switchover date.
There's no particular timescale for this and I've known it take over 4 weeks although this is the exception rather than the rule. Most come through much quicker and, hopefully, yours will. Just a heads up, sometimes losing suppliers jump the gun and issue an estimated final bill before the actual readings come through. This is usually replaced with a revised bill once the actual readings have been received. Not saying this will happen here but thought I'd make you aware of the possibility. I am, though, speculating about the losing supplier as I can't speak for them.
Hope this puts your mind at rest savetilibleed but let me know if you've any concerns. Always happy to help.

My Topcashback from USwitch has just been made payable, that's on top of the MSE cashback.
Can't complain at that really...0 -
You're welcome savetilibleed. The readings you've given will be going through now and, once verified, will be sent to the respective suppliers so they can close their accounts. Not sure if I've already mentioned this but it's important the old suppliers close to the same readings we open to. This makes sure the same energy isn't charged twice.
As above, you know where I am if you've any further concerns.

I've just had a text today from E.On saying:
"We need your gas meter read to start your account accurately. Please reply with MYREAD followed by your reading. Please ignore if you have already sent this. From E.ON" I have given readings on 17 Nov as I mentioned earlier in Post 170, .
This is rather confusing in the light of what I mentioned here in Post 170 - i.e. that the gas reading shows on my E.On account page, but the electricity ones don't. Why would I get a request for a reading they already have? I realise I could just ignore and feel it is best to do that as a new reading might just confuse things.
Oh in addition the My Account meter readings section says I gave gas reading on 24 Nov (it shows the same reading I gave on 17 Nov).
Advice?0 -
All's looking okay savetilibleed. The text you've received goes out to all customers who've joined us. It's a bit of a belt and braces exercise to make sure we've made every effort to start accounts accurately. As you've already given the readings, please ignore it.
As we received your readings during the 'window' I talked about in post 162, we'll use these to start your account. I know you gave them to us before the start date but it's these we'll use for 24 November 15. These are also the ones we've sent to the losing suppliers, via the third party, so they can close their accounts.
Hope this explains savetilibleed. Let me know if still unsure as happy to help.

Thank you.
I understand that the readings requested and supplied on 17 Nov are used to end old supplies and start E.ON's, but given that your supply switchover date was 24 Nov, will E.ON billing be at your rates from 17 Nov or from 24 Nov? Or maybe the date doesn't matter too much as long as the starting readings are what I supplied (except it does, doesn't it (?) because the daily standing charges will be different between the 3 suppliers).
Sorry being a bit of a pain. All new to me - never switched before.0 -

There is no mystery here. The switching date is the 24th. You will pay your old supplier for energy consumed and standing charges up until this date. From the 24th, your new supplier's tariff applies.
All meter readings provided by the customer on switch go to a third party for review/adjustment. As you have provided meter readings a week before the actual switch, then expect to see the readings adjusted upwards to reflect 7 more days of consumption. The reviewing authority will pass the adjusted/estimated meter readings to both suppliers and these should appear on your closing and opening bills: that is, both suppliers must use the same readings. Any difference in cost to you will be small. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Don't worry savetilibleed. This is what I'm here for and you're certainly not a pain.
The Supply Start Date is 24 November 15. Your account will start from the same date. We'll start billing from 24 November 15 too.
We've sent your readings to the third party as Hengus describes. Whilst there's always the possibility they'll change them, in most cases they'll accept the proposed readings. Particularly as you've given them inside the 'billing window.' A good, consistent usage history also helps. It's more where the readings are out of line with past usage that they'll reject them. If yours follow on, should be okay.
As above, the readings will go to the old suppliers too. With the standing charges, ours will start from the 24 November 15. Standing charges from your old suppliers will end on 23 November 15 so there's no overlap.
Hope this re-assures you savetilibleed. You know where I am if you need any more help. Don't worry about being a pain. You're not. Just let me know.

As I mentioned in Post 172, I have an estimated bill dated 21 Nov 15 from BG, payment due 7 Dec 15. Their estimated reading is slightly less than the readings I supplied to E.ON in 17 Nov 15. I suppose I should pay it on time and wait for a final closing bill (assuming there will be one). It doesn't indicate this bill is any different from the usual one ("Your autumn bill") except it is about 10-12 days early.0

Sorry for the late reply savetilibleed. Not been in the office since last Thursday. I suspect you're right and the bill you've received isn't their final one. In all likelihood, another will follow once the readings you've given us have been approved and sent through.
Sorry again for the late reply.
