Today I got a normal quarterly scheduled EDF bill requiring my readings which I have supplied to them today. That generated a new balance and I will get the amended bill in a few days. Just wanted to ask that because I have just provided EDF with readings and with your request expected, will this cause confusion as I understand the readings I supply to E-On will also go to the other suppliers I'm switching away from. Also if the date I provide readings to you is several days before switchover, how is the owing amounts apportioned?
Thanks
Hi savetilibleed
Shouldn't cause confusion provided, as brewerdave says, the readings follow on from those given to your current supplier. Thought it might help if I give you some information about what happens with the opening readings.
As you say, we'll write to you before the account is due to start to ask for readings. When joining us, we use what we call a 'reading window.' This window opens 5 working days before the expected start date and closes 5 working days after. Including the start date itself, this gives 15 days to let us have readings. The first readings given during this time will be used to start the account. We'll send the same readings to your old supplier so they can close their account and issue their final bill.
From what you've posted, all seems on course. If you've registered with our website, you can keep an eye on what's happening through the 'Track My Switch' tool.
Hope this eases your mind savetilibleed. Let me know if you need any more details as happy to help.

Morning Malc how long does cash back take to reach my account, I switched using energy club to Eon,
and I received the below email regarding cashback on the 14/11/2015,
“Hurrah! We hear your energy switch is complete, so your cashback's been paid
Your supplier has told us your switch is complete, so your switching cashback has just been paid.”

Doesn't the email go on to say "though it'll take a couple of days to reach you"? And for me that's what happened.Stompa0 -
Thanks MSE DAN, its now been sorted.
Yes Stompa I was not liking the COUPLE OF DAYS BIT hahah0 -

Glad all's gone through okay Maxwell. The cashback bit isn't something we're involved with though. Usually, the switching site used will advise on cashback. Looks like Dan's on the case.

Having said that I have had a few problems with TopCashBack not tracking on a couple of things over the last few months and I've done nothing different to those which did track successfully. In my experience TopCashBack seem less than interested when things don't work as expected.
Obvious things to check - have you got an adblocker enabled in your browser or not cleared your history/cookies before applying? I have now started to use a separate browser for any cashback sites.
...Yup =have got Adblocker Pro running -but I always have done and it hasn't stopped previous cashback -also never cleared cookies or history before either - oh well, you live and learn -if thats why its failed I'll have to remember for the next time0 -

Malc
Malc I have been requested meter readings today for both gas and electricity so have provided these. And this process explains as you both did that the readings are used to end old supply (or rather billing strictly I suppose) and to start new.

Glad it helped savetilibleed. Don't worry that the Direct Debit isn't showing online yet. This is usual. Once the account is live, it'll be updated with these details.
In all likelihood, the online part will update after we start supplying. With a change of supplier, various pieces of information pass between the two suppliers and certain third parties like the regional distributors, meter operators, meter reading agents, national databases etc. This is to let all those involved with your energy supply know about the changed circumstances. This can delay the online account going live but, once it does, it'll show the actual start date advised and use the meter readings you've given. Thanks very much for letting us have these so promptly. Much appreciated.
We send the readings through a third party who make sure they're in line with the previous usage history for the property. This is standard practice. Once they've done this they'll send them back to us as well as forwarding them to the old supplier. We use them to start your account and the old supplier will use them on their final bill.
Hope this helps. You know where we are if you need any more information. Helena and I are always happy to help.

Hi E.On rep
Switchover has happened according to email received today, DD is set up with bank. My online account shows the DD amount and details. I supplied gas and electricity readings on 17 Nov as requested.
What is slightly odd is that when I go to Meter readings it shows the gas reading I supplied, but nothing for the two (E7) readings I supplied for electricity, in fact it is as though I failed to supply the latter (which I didn't). I'm slightly concerned E.on might start at some arbitrary readings.0 -
Morning savetilibleed
Glad the switch has gone through. It's not unusual for meter readings to come through at different times. As per my post number 169 above, readings go through a third party who make sure they're in line with the previous usage history for the property. This is an industry wide practice and can sometimes delay things a bit. Don't worry, we're now supplying you and all relevant information will be based on your switchover date.
There's no particular timescale for this and I've known it take over 4 weeks although this is the exception rather than the rule. Most come through much quicker and, hopefully, yours will. Just a heads up, sometimes losing suppliers jump the gun and issue an estimated final bill before the actual readings come through. This is usually replaced with a revised bill once the actual readings have been received. Not saying this will happen here but thought I'd make you aware of the possibility. I am, though, speculating about the losing supplier as I can't speak for them.
Hope this puts your mind at rest savetilibleed but let me know if you've any concerns. Always happy to help.
