thrifty - that quote is so true of me too.

We are back from our day out in York. It was very busy and I am shattered. DH took the kids to York Dungeons which we had booked online - they really loved it. I went Christmas shopping whilst they were in there and got quite a few of the things on my list aside from the big stuff which will be bought nearer the time.

We did spend quite a bit but again it was from what I had saved for this week.

mothernerd - I have started a new notebook (gasp!)(3 for 99p and I just LOVED the cover design - joy-sparking and all that) and made some notes of things I think I need to do to set up to sell on etsee. Thank you for the encouragement!

Re making things for nephews and nieces, I have just the one, who turned 19 this month and is already the proud owner of 4 bunnies! But I did buy a craft mag that had a knitted dress pattern for a 16" or 18" doll, and have been secretly knitting that for dd. Then I did it on 5mm needles and I reckon it'll fit a bui1dabear. Result.

I'm all twitchy with the crafts now - no big project on the go. I do need to name and label the rest of the bunnies and do a trial set up of the table for the fairs.

In mse news, the month started well, but then NSDs became like gold dust and money was like holding water in my hands.thank goodness we get a fresh start every month.

Bob - how is the little one doing? How is ds taking to his little sister? How are you, recuperating from the surgery?

  • crazycatlady well done on the 18 nsd's!! Thats amazing.

Not a nsd here, went to do a food shop, spent £55, but had a £5 off a £40 shop from liddle, i didnt know that the news papers on the way out had a £5 voucher in!! Grabbed one on the way in today and used it at the till :)
Made me go over budget by £10, but i got loads, and i'll reduce next weeks budget by £10. It was worth it for the save! Also i budgetted for car ins this month, which i didnt need to pay, so ive got a little bit extra.

Looking forward to Nov now :) but hopefully i'll get nsd's 14 & 15 first!
Still here..... but working on that!

Hey all, some really positive and encouraging posts over the past day! It's been nice reading them.

Pay day today, finally! Paid off the last of my holiday and now I'll just need to save up for spends. I did my budget for next month and wrote a shopping list. I'm going to wait to go shopping though as I'm not desperate yet and want to force myself to use up as much as I can from my cupboards, fridge and freezer first.

The only downer is knowing I'll already be skint in November and it's not even the first of the month yet, hate it when that happens! (I say skint, but what I mean is all bills paid, petrol and foods budgeted for, day out budgeted for, just no spare cash to waste! - don't know why I'm moaning?!)
  • I'm the same andrar - no wriggle room at all this month. But I can pay the bills and feed us and fuel the car, so I'm happy enough.
  • Not much to spare here either, but could be worse, i can pay the bills, feed my family and get fuel. Life could be worse.
Still here..... but working on that!

Looks like we're all in the same boat! I got paid last Friday and have nearly spent all my money - car tax, MOT, hair cut and dinner out with friends tonight. However, as you've all reminded me, I've got money for everything I need this month, so I can sit back and hopefully collect the SFDs whilst emptying my house of clutter and hopefully making some extra money :)

  • Hello, good morning fellow turtles. My final bow for this month's challenge. Both salaries are in the bank now, budget has been drawn up and we have about £10 left over from last month's budget. Looking back to October, we didn't do too well with counting NSD's but we have come within budget. There have been a few emergencies that were covered by our one and only credit card (had to get one to start cleaning our credit score) which is now fully paid by the salaries, leaving the EF untouched and we could just about afford to add £75 to it to make it up to £1198.13. We are hoping to cutdown on our grocery budget so any left over from the weekly budgets will be immediately diverted to the EF. Looking forward to November now.

Well done CCL on your nsd's, I know they were forced upon you but well done for remaining positive.

Raining again here today. We are going to the cinema to see Pan this afternoon and that will be our last half term jaunt. There is a few pounds left from the cash I had for this week so that is going into the bank today.

I have a pile of ironing to do this morning and some work too then an early lunch at home before we go out.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning all,

    A little advice needed please;

This morning I have had an email from USwitch to say that I could save £245 on my energy bill by switching to EOn, which sounded great and a bit more motivation to leave FU. I have been online and updated my details, and the saving isn't that high, it's actually about £70 a year but I have to pay £60 to leave FU. Would you do it?

Does anyone know how and when they would charge me the £60?

Since my change in circumstance, I have reduced my usage so I am hoping my bills will come down anyway and the tariff on EOn is slightly better and I've heard their customer service is much better. I was with them before but hardly ever had to speak to them.
