Hi Fmess - that email sounds extremely optimistic. What were they basing their figures on if yout own number crunching brings up a reduction that is £175 LESS than they say?!
And with the exit fee, it does all seem to cancel itself out. And given that you are reducing your usage, you'll be reducing the bills anyway.
Hmm, this is only my reaction - have you posted on the other threads with the question? I'm sure the e.o.n. rep will be along soon!
It sounds like even if you do nothing, you lose nothing. And when you can exit without penalty, that may be the time to switch?
Good luck xNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Good morning!
Fmess I agree with apple muncher. I would wait till you can exit without a exit penalty and then switch to a company that doesn't have them like EDF.
Happy Friday and payday. Paid my CC this morning but only put in £200 instead of 250 as I realised I forgot to budget spending money for my long weekend next week in Germany with the parents. However my christmas shopping/budgets should allow for having some more money left over at the end of the month. Next months budgets are quite generous too and I hope to pay more off tun planned and get the CC under £2700.
Today will be a spendy day as I will order Tescimo (£127 incl about £50 for making 10 bottles of limoncello) and gifts from Am@z0n (ca £130 that will cover the cheese making for christmas and us for months, gifts for 5 kids and some for our own). I will sit down at lunch when I get a quiet moment however and tweak the orders and make sure they're right before sending them off.
I will also look into cancelling one of my CC that I never use anymore.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Thanks apple and thrifty. It was different to their expected save because they had assumed that when my last FU tariff ended in September, I had gone onto a basic tariff, whereas I had selected a different one. I think you are both right as in reality, if they ask me for the £60, I don't have it. It's just annoying knowing that I am not on the cheapest tariff :rotfl:LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

I would ring them and say you are looking at other tariffs and can they do anything to keep you. It's worth a phone call. Otherwise I would also wait till the exit fee had ended.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Fmess think it is worth a try bartering with them. I had a good deal moving to Sainsbury Energy and got cashback and collect nectar points.
Just checking in, spending day darn trick or treaters!!! Bought lollies.
I also ordered my monthly shopping Sainsbobs for tomorrow as I found 9 pounds off 60 spend voucher. Stocked up with wine as 25% off towards the silly season, will attempt not to drink it by then. Just noticed no nectar points on wine now, think it has just been introduced?LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -

Hi everyone
Sorry I have been AWOL it had been a hard month and had a lot going on.
I had a visit back to my family last weekend the first since we have moved and it went really well, Miss my nan a lot though.
I spoke earlier of changes and me and OH have decided to move to the N@tionwide this is for a few reasons, 1 we can start fresh with finances and not live in our overdraft 2 they have a good savings account for house deposit.
We also had a really good chat and discussed that we need to "grow up" as it were and become more aware of what and how we are spending our money. We are currently living with his mam and we haven't saved a penny since we arrived in July in fact finances have got worse. So November is going to be a fresh start in all ways.
So we have to account for every penny now, budget for the weeks I will not get paid ( I am a supply Teaching Assistant) it's going to be tough but so worth it in the end. We have set a target for next October to have our deposit saved. This is flexible depends how long I can live with the MIL
I am going to be taking care of myself more as suffer with depression and anxiety so I am getting back on the SW wagon and the gym because if my mental health is good I shouldn't spend and be encouraged to save more as I am emotional spender.
I have said these things many times before but now I HAVE to act on them. Thrifys post is what life is all about we have to stop waiting for happiness we have to make ourselves happy, and that is what I intend to do. It is time to stop wishing my life away ( I have done this all my life) and live in the here and now.
Sorry for the long post but felt I had to share with people who understood. Thank you for putting up with me lol.
love Lucky xxxx0 -
stewby - I think you would be a great thread leader
. The first time you do it is the scariest but then you realise that everyone is behind you and supporting you and not looking to find fault.
I think that the November one is very personal to me as I have become sloppy and fluffy as regards my spending/non-spending and I so need to change. I've been reading Mark Boyle's The Moneyless Man story and have found it thought-provoking.

*waves* hello, I'm here, I'm still alive! Had a couple of days off this week that had the potential to be spendy, but didn't have any money until yesterday so resisted dipping into savings and the like. October wasn't the month I would have liked it to be, combination of unexpected spends and feeling generally rubbish have made it difficult to concentrate on finances, but November is gearing up to be a good month I think
see you all on the other side, turtles x
