dolly - was it good, I'd love to go there. Have you and dd been watching the TV program The Yorkshire Vet?
It was good especially if you are a fan of the books. Downstairs is done as it was in the 1940's and upstairs is full of displays and interactive things for children.
I haven't watched that TV programme as my obsession is with 1930's and 40's life. I was born way, way too late and totally love that era.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

traveller - that was a very expensive taxi fare for you to find. Personally I would build up an emergency fund (that's what I am doing) otherwise I would have to use the cards and would just carry on in a vicious circle.
andrar - it's a shame that your pay rise has been cancelled out but just keep thinking of when that debt is gone and all your money is yours.
LSD - I know how I would budget but not knowing the amounts you are going to get paid makes it more difficult.
Today we are going to York. I will update later with what we have spent.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Thanks dolly. To be honest i realised after posting last night that for the next 11 months i'll have constant pay with annual leave and maternity leave, so that'll make it easier. When i do go back to work, i could treat everything else as a bonus i think. I'll do my maths over the weekend if in quiet at work! No chance at home in half term!!!Still here..... but working on that!0

Good morning, someone posted this on FB and I have to share this as I am soooo guilty of waiting for things to get better and life "to start":
A quote comes from Alfred D. Souza. He said,
"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, or a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."
This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.
So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time...and remember that time waits for no one.
So, stop waiting until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until winter, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink.... there is no better time than right now to be happy.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
Work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching.
Today will be another SFD. DH transferred me £300 and I put it straight towards the CC.

Hi Dolly, thanks for that :T. I think I will do that as in all honesty, I'm totally broke now. Had I done it slowly but surely, I would possibly not have been in this position again. I am in the habit of paying everything toward debt, but have to use my cards the rest of the time and as you say, it becomes an unbreakble cycle
Thrifty, how apt is that quote and totally true :T
:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
I love the quote thriftylass - and it's so true. If you wait until everything is right then life will have passed you by.
It's been a long time since I was this broke at the end of the month - payday tomorrow thankfully, but I can safely say I will be broke for the next 30 days as well... dh still isn't back at work (ssp is a third of what he usually brings home) and I am determined that I will be debt free for Christmas. When I get today's nsd I will have made my target for the month so that's good...
I can almost see the end in sight for debt payments though so I just need to get to December and we can enjoy a merry, debt free Christmas. Not giving up

Hi traveller.
I agree completely with Dolly. You should have some form of an emergency fund.
This doesn't mean that you can't pay off your debt at the same time though. If you are able, you could split the money between your debt and your emergency fund.
Even if it is only like £20 that is going into your emergency fund, it is still better than nothing.
That quote is actually a bit scary cause I see myself in the first section. I was forever putting things off until something happened (weight loss, met someone, etc). After someone at work spoke to me, it has made me re-evaluate everything.
Still want to become debt-free, still want to become mortgage-free but I want to live a normal life whilst doing so. No more guilt because I want to eat out to celebrate a birthday or anniversary... it's only three times a year!!
I need to start looking around and seeing what is normal and what is not. Normal being my own perception and opinion of normal which I know may completely differ to someone elses.
Wow... long rambling post about very little. Sorry guys.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Well, done a Tesco order again for tomorrow. I need vodka for the lemoncello and the good stuff is on offer. Limited fresh stuff to the ones that are similar in price to Aldi and just to tie us over till an Aldi shop. Will also use the vouchers I saved for christmas as there is technically christmas stuff in this order. Plus I have both kids tomorrow after work, so I thought it's safer to just pick my order up that was sensibly planned then trying to do a big shop with them in tow
in Aldi which fine usually but not Friday night. Would have to go to Tesco then anyway.
CCL keeping my fingers crossed that you'll have a debt free Christmas. You sound determined.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

I made my 18 nsds :j:j:j
I know that tomorrow is definitely not going to be a nsd as it's payday and I'm making plans. Me and the kids are going pumpkin carving tomorrow... which is a fiver each for them but saves me all of the stress of doing the hard work and clearing up after it. And I've not taken them out at all over the hols other than to my friends yesterday. Not giving up
