  • Hello and good evening/morning turtles!

Just a quick post from me. I was hoping for a NSD today but it wasn't to be. I went to Ashda to pick up fresh milk cucumber and onions and spent nowt, I used my APG voucher worth £3.23. Was rather pleased with myself and after my sewing class called in to smaller Ashda for some Ys goodies. Had to sit in my car for half an hour to wait for final reduction but got two loaves of wholemeal bread, 2 packs of 4 kingsmill buns, some bagels, 2 packs of petit flous and a bunch of flowers still for nowt (with the help of another APG voucher -- only to find out that DH went to Aldee and bought some things we don't need and spent £13.90. Not too bad in the great scheme of things (we still have £35.12 left for this week's budget) but I'm still annoyed that he just did it without consulting with me. Totally unnecessary loss of NSD

Well, better luck tomorrow. Hopefully we can have the much longed for NSD. Goodnight

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning All

Well. So far this week I haven't spent a bean :rotfl: so I will be topping up my NSDs later.

Although OH shelled out for a round of the expensive cafe at the hospital coffees yesterday when his parents (who have been looking after DS) came to meet their new GD.

I am sat watching a beautiful sunrise out the hospital window while DD sleeps.

OH is going to do the school run then come in by 9, which I will be glad of. You forget how even little people in your arms makes them ache, especially after a night of up and down and feeding/changing etc.

Ward routine was a bit off yesterday. Having felt the hospital did an incredible job from stepping foot through the door on Tuesday morning. Yesterday they basically left me in bed all morning despite me asking for a wash before my visitors arrived. They put my lunch on top of the dresser where I had no chance of reaching it. Left my water jug on a non movable table. I was a bit cross really and did tell them things hadn't been great. In fairness they reacted to that and did sort it out from then on. Need to get my doctors onto the pain relief side of things today so we can look at going home and getting back to normal life. I don't want my son feeling totally out of wack and we all need to get on with home life.

I am grateful for/to my in laws for helping out so much this week, my husband and son for the care and love they gave me ahead of the hospital, & to the lovely team at the hospital who have been mostly great in a very busy huge teaching hospital. Let's see what today brings.

    Hi everyone,

A late and therefore quick post from me.

Looks like my shop is going ahead and will be open in less than 2 weeks.

That is so cool. And slightly scary when I think how long it took me to get operational.
Please shout if you want any info on health and safety, fire, security any of that or council stuff. I am only to glad to help if I can.

WeshKitty good luck with your venture!

Bob sorry to hear about your hospital experience. Hope you get out soon into the comfort of your home.

Today should finally be SFD number 2 as I didn't need to bring my wallet to work, woohoo. But tomorrow I need to get some more fruit, milk and rolls for the weekend and on Sunday do a small shop for sandwich fillers and other things that run out over the weekend. So I don't think I make the SFD target. But rather a few more well thought through spends than unplanned ones.

andrar - personally I don't count it as a spend day if I had already budgeted for it. For me it is all about stopping the impulse buys and the emotional shopping.

welshkitty - great news about the shop. Hope you find a new tenant this time.

Bob - hope you get home soon, everything is much better when you are home and can get a routine established.

Thanks for asking about the interview guys. It was another stupid interview with 6 questions, I find it really hard to get across everything I am capable of and all my experience in this type of interview plus the interviewers are really cold and impersonal (they were like this at my last interview too) so you don't get into a conversation and they know nothing about you as a person when you leave. I didn't get it and am gutted if I'm honest. I feel like I am really letting DH and the kids down.

  • Bob sorry to hear about your not so good hospital experience. Hopefully you'll be back home soon with your nearest and dearest! How is DS taking to DD?

andrar I agree with dolly re patrols and NSD's.

Dolly sorry about the way your interview turned out. If you can remember during my last interview a few weeks ago I was absolutely rubbish. I was so nervous I couldn't stop shaking and had to stop mid-sentence twice for fear of choking. They must have given me the job not based on the interview but on other factors. Before the interview the receptionist tried to calm me down and said the interviewers were also nervous because they don't do interviews very often and it's a new experience for them. Maybe that is the same reason why your interviewers looked impersonal and cold. If it will help, I found some insightful videos on YouTube. I tried to get a link to copy and paste on here but I don't know how to do it on the iPad. If you type in Interview Skills and YouTube on your search engine, you will find the link. It's by a guy called Anthony and he has a few videos on different aspects of job interviews. I hope it helps on your next interview. And I am sure your DH and kids don't feel let down. The right job will come along!

On the late shift tonight (3-11pm) and I am hoping for NSD #4. I won't be here to cook supper tonight but there's plenty in the fridge for my hubby to cook so I hope he doesn't get tempted to go shopping (again grrr).

The sun is finally up after a complete wash out yesterday. Will do 2 loads of laundry before I go to work. And do a bit of ironing. Have a good sunny day!

    PS.

We finally had a meat free day yesterday, at last!

Hopefully the weekends kind to me.
getting lower on food now, and need to make it until tues when dh gets paid. I wont be putting anything on cc!! Ive not used the cc since xmas last year and im determined not to use it for xmas this year or any other time!!

    So still at 4/12 nsd
    Groceries £5.32/£200
    Petrol 0/80
    Charity: not yet!

I just want to say that i love the reduce part in the start if this thread! It really makes u think. Most of us have so much stuff we dont need, and im trying to think about what we can do without (which is a lot!!) and what to do with it.
Still here..... but working on that!
  • Littleskintdragon two thumbs up for resisting the use of cc for nearly a year now, well done you! Since we started this DFW journey we've learned to improvise and create weird and wonderful concoctions to be able to do without certain things to keep within or under budget. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention, so enjoy the creativity your DFW journey will bring out in you. The forums here on MSE are fantastic sources of inspiration and information.

TOG - thanks for taking the time to comment. Luckily I don't get nervous in interviews at all (years of working in sales and also being a recruitment consultant), both interviews recently have been for council posts and it is obviously their way of doing things but it doesn't sit well with me as an interview technique.

Not much going on here today, the sun is shining so the washing is out on the line. I should have some cashback going in the bank soon, it is just a few pounds but it all counts. Everything else is still within budget.

Aww Bob hope you get pain relief sorted and can get home soon.

Dolly feel for you, had some frightful panel interviews in the past. Good advice on here. Don't you dare think you are letting anyone down.

Had my half day off today, ended up helping friend out, couldn't get to hospital for her treatment so drove her there. Hospital was grim inside, not sure it was used for in the past- sanatorium? Couldn't let her go in there alone. Stopped for nice walk and lunch at pub en route so enjoyed some sun. Total spend £5
