Hello everyone.
Good evening! This is my third attempt at posting since coming back from my weekend getaway with hubby. Came back late last night, knackered and hungry and found the fridge and freezer and tinned foods emptied by my two hungry hippos. The only thing left were veggies, surprise surprise. I can't believe they finished the whole tray of 15 eggs between the two of them in one weekend. It's a wonder they didn't come up with hives due to hyperproteinemia and or ended up with hypercholesterolaemia.
The weekend was lovely and just what we needed after several hectic and tiring weeks at work. We got to the hotel at 4pm, 2 1/2 hours before the actual programme started so we had plenty of time to explore the hotel and the facilities. We were so pleased to see the leisure suite completely empty giving us plenty of privacy when we perused the sauna and the jacuzzi. We made lots of good friends and the programmes were very beneficial to married couples like us. We had a formal banquet/dinner on Saturday night including a photo/portrait session. They gave us one framed portrait to take home as a souvenir which is a really lovely touch. We've been attending the same retreat for 4 years now and each year we have a portrait of the two of us. It's nice to see how we "age gracefully" through the years. The food was excellent and the accommodation was great. For £250 for two persons including the hotel, the food for the entire evening and endless supplies of coffee tea or juice and fruits, plus freebies and give aways including portraits, I think it's definitely worth every penny. Because everything was paid for ages ago, we managed to hold on to our NSD's and made 3 NSD'S so far.
We had a bit of a scare during the weekend when one of our very close friends who were in the same retreat found himself with unexplained and sudden numbness of this right arm. The ambulance came to check him over and they told him it wasn't a stroke. It happened at the wee hours of the morning so neither he nor his wife was in a fit state to drive so my hubby drove his car and I drove our car with his wife. He went straight to A/E when we got home and he is currently still in the hospital awaiting results of tests and scans and the diagnosis by the consultant. We are hoping it's not something serious.
Good news about the burnt mark on our carpet when our ironing board broke while ironing last Friday. Hubby found a rug we could use in the living room to disguise the burn mark. Have bought a new ironing horse but the iron decided to take its last breath too while I was trying to do more ironing this afternoon. One thing I noticed since we became debt free is that emergencies always spring out of nowhere wanting a piece of our emergency fund. It's just as well we have a bit of EF to use. This is what Dave Ramsey keeps saying in his shows and audiobook. Emergencies will come, it's not a question of IF it will come, it's a question of WHEN. Just a bit of an update on the EF, I opened my coin bank and put everything in the current account that holds the EF. The total now stands at £934.65.
Today was not NSD as I had to go out and do food shopping. Spent £55 of this week's £100 groceries and household budget. That includes the new ironing horse. The money that will be used for buying the iron will come from the buffer money sitting in the main bank account, hopefully it wouldn't be more than £30.
I haven't had a chance to read your posts while I was away but I will try and catch up. Let's see if this third attempt at posting will work this time."There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -
I did a bit of Xmas shopping today and spent £3.10 on 2 men's denim shorts (one pair was priced 10p when I scanned so I didn't dare put them down in case somebody snatches them from me - absolute bargain the other pair was priced at £1) and a pair of jumpsuit for £2.

Evening all
I'm so annoyed with myself today. It was meant to be a NSD but I forgot about my friends bday so I had to buy and post a card to her. As I spent on that I took the opportunity to buy petrol too so hoping the rest of the week is NSDs galore!0 -

Not much else to report except that the heating is still off. I managed to get September's fuel bill to slightly less than August's, so now I just need to see how long I can cope without the heating/radiators to dry towels etc.

Today will be our meat free day as planned, lunch for me will be potato and leek soup and we are having fish for tea.
I had to use the tumble dryer yesterday as it was so wet here and is again today, it pains me to use it but I had already filled my heated clothes airer with things that don't go in the dryer.
I have made £12.56 from selling three of the kids coats on ebay, not a lot after ebay take their massive chunk but better than nothing. I have transferred the money to my car expenses pot as I need to start building that up now for tax and mot on my car next year.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
