You only bought the dear little vehicle because you love to believe you'd never harm the atmosphere, and you like to spend evenings sitting in the car in the garage with the doors closed and the engine on. Now those lying Germans have ruined it for you. You want your money back plus a wodge for all the distress you've suffered and you're going to use it to buy bicycles for all in the family.
That's the attitude you need for the class action equivalent that's coming next. The hysteria of :-- Cars dropping dramatically in value
- VW being sold
- Cars automatically failing MOT and owners being put off the road
- The "upgrade" significantly degrading performance
- The "upgrade" significantly degrading economy
- Owners being aggrieved because they bought the car solely because of low emissions
- VWs reputation being irrepairably damaged
Repeating it doesnt make it true.
Woo. Settle down. How much coffee do you drink?
If you're referring to me, I'll accept dropping in value. Sticking in the word dramatically for effect?
VW being sold? You didn't get that from me. Now you mention it, could be a good buy if the share price stays low. Mercedes? Buy now before the takeover. There's a tip.
Owners being put off the road? Well, that's a good one.
Upgrade? Who knows what it involves? I don't. Nor do you. But if it was of no importance, why would they have invented it. None of us knows what it involves, but feel free to use the word significantly - it makes it sound so much more portentous.
Bought a vw because of low emissions? Yes, it was one of their selling points. Who knows? You might as well play that note in your complaint.
Reputational damage. Yea, sure. It may not do them any real harm in the long run, but it's far from good.
So there you are. No hysteria on my part. Any excitable terminology was yours not mine. Either you've very little on these nights or you are that bloke from the Qatari royal family who's lost £300 million in the share drop. Chill out. It's only money.

For providing a comprehensive response??
It took me five mins to knock out off the top of my head. I guess your responses take longer if you have to find "evidence" off of the internet to "support" them.
As i've said - we'll see - but certainly i wouldnt be put off buying a VW if i so desired one.0 -
No, I read the papers. But long live the inverted comma.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0

And there we go - new injectors and a s/w update for the 1.6TDIs and just a s/w update for the 2.0TDIs.
Starting first quarter 2016.
Owners will be lent cars if required.

No doubt the customers will all be smoozed when they're in, reassured that its all sorted, and the salesmen will be doing their best to "upsell" people into new cars when they have them there.
If i'd still my 2012 1.6TDI Golf i'd have no issues with this.0 -
I wonder if this 'fix' will mean less power/mpg as well as reduced emissions?
If so? I wouldn't be too quick on taking up VW offer!
The Golf 1.6Tdi is a great car, just the way it is
