Well indeed. If the world thinks one thing and you think the opposite, there is a possibility you're wrong?
Since I'm not in the market for one and I've never had a German wagen, it doesn't matter. I might be if they're being passed on at fire sale prices, which is unlikely.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -
Surely just as the dismissal may not be wise, the acceptance of it too may not be wise?
Why not wait and see, otherwise its just scaremongering.
Oh, no doubt. Its going to cost them a fortune to fix. Not sure how thats related to the fix "maybe" making the cars a bit harder on fuel.
Is it not the performance that's likely to be impaired?“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -
So what if the VW lump is throwing out a few microns more that is stated in their spec sheet?
Does my VW still start in the morning - yes,
Is it as reliable as any other diesel - yes,
Have millions of VW`s made it through our mot test - yes,
Is it one of the most fuel efficient engines out there - yes,
Whats left to get `concerned` about please ??0 -

Ah yes, because its better just to repeat the hysteria. That makes it fact doesnt it.0 -

Oh no- wrong approach. You're heartbroken at the way you've been deceived by the evil vw fraudsters. You only bought the dear little vehicle because you love to believe you'd never harm the atmosphere, and you like to spend evenings sitting in the car in the garage with the doors closed and the engine on. Now those lying Germans have ruined it for you. You want your money back plus a wodge for all the distress you've suffered and you're going to use it to buy bicycles for all in the family.
That's the attitude you need for the class action equivalent that's coming next.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Countering hysteria with common sense.
I can see how that would be a problem for you.0 -
Why who's hysterical? I don't think sense is all that common.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0

The hysteria of :-- Cars dropping dramatically in value
- VW being sold
- Cars automatically failing MOT and owners being put off the road
- The "upgrade" significantly degrading performance
- The "upgrade" significantly degrading economy
- Owners being aggrieved because they bought the car solely because of low emissions
- VWs reputation being irrepairably damaged
Repeating it doesnt make it true.0 -

Don't think there is any doubt that either economy or performance will be reduced by some level. To 'fake' the american tests the engine pushed more fuel in to cool there engine which then gave lower NOX levels. To think that a fix can be produced that won't have any impact on the car would beg the question - Why not do that in the first place.
The price of second hand VWs dropped slightly more in September than normal but the figure is not significant (so i am told). Will take several months before any conclusions can be reached. As you said, to think that diesel VWs will plummet in price is highly unlikely, a 2L diesel Golf was a great car 2 months ago, it will still be a great car in 2 months time.0
