VW along with Audi and another Merc diesel will be at the top of the list my next change. Drove cars long before this emissions baloney and they did the same job and with less expense as well.
If you want to talk about `emissions` take a trip to Russia, China or India.
What if this emissions baloney leads to adjustments that cost you fuel economy? Still keen?“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Not sure where the figures come from or if these are seasonally adjusted. Could be temporary or a sign of things top come but safe to say in the short-term there will be an effect on the VW brand.
I'd like to see how thats calculated. Is anyone seeing Skodas 10% cheaper than they were two months ago? Or Audis down?
I'm not. I still have access to a couple of the big trade dealer online auctions here and demand is still strong for VAG diesels.
I'm looking right now at a 2012 Audi 2.0TDI Sport 5 door with FASH and an above average 60K miles. Description reads thats its marky and needs both bumpers painted (£500) and a couple of tyres. Theres been 22 bids on it and its going to break £9,000 which is very strong for a trade car needing £700 of refurb and given Hursts are retailing the same car for £10,450 :eek:0 -

Honestly I don't know. It was tabloid article I happened to read. Could be guff but it's interesting guff.
I know exactly what you're saying. I'm looking to change to the new S3, was going to order this weekend but now I'll see what happens.0 -

It's certainty plausible that the recall update has a effect on MPG.
Lower emissions generally equates to higher MPG.
I'd a 2012 golf that would have had the software installed to fake the emissions and it still averaged 65mpg over the time i had it, and on several brim to brim calcs broke 70mpg.
So the car - even with "fake" low emissions readings - was getting 65mpg+0 -

Scaremongering and hysteria in the press because its sells newspapers.
I'm taking a "wait and see" approach, rather than knee jerk when the corrective measures needing to be taken by VW havent even been completed yet.0 -
Scaremongering again?
Na. I just wouldn't sneer yet.
Although it has occurred to me that those in the know might have a tad more information on this one than any of us, and dismissal such as that above may not be wise? Particularly since vw have accepted that two years of profits are going to be wiped out by this.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

The nitric oxide level which is the one noted is not related to inefficient combustion. That's the carbon monoxide.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Surely just as the dismissal may not be wise, the acceptance of it too may not be wise?
Why not wait and see, otherwise its just scaremongering.qwert_yuiop wrote: »

Oh, no doubt. Its going to cost them a fortune to fix. Not sure how thats related to the fix "maybe" making the cars a bit harder on fuel.0
