I've been reading this thread for a while, it's fab! Here are mine:
1) getting up early to go for a run - I've found a way of exercising that doesn't cost - very MSE:A
2) while on said run looking down over the lights of our local town before the sun came up - beautiful! I've recently moved to live with my BF and out farmhouse is up a hill looking down over the Shropshire Plain.
3) made my lunch last night for work today - bacon butty using hm loaf I made yesterday in my BM (best Christmas present ever)
4) bolognese cooking in the SC for tonight, hopefully with leftovers for lunch later this week
5) feeling happy that I can eat healthily and not put weight on by running and cooking from scratchCymru am Byth!0 -
A day late but nevermind, here are sundays OS pleasures:
1.) Waking up to another day of glorious sunshine and a cuppa in bed!
2.) Hiking over the hills to the farmers market
3.) Getting loads of lovely veg from my favourite farmer - bargains galore
4.) OH and I treating ourselves to the 2 course "credit crunch lunch" in our local organic cafe - only £5 each and very filling and lovely
5.) Using up my leftover puff pastry to make sausage rolls from whoopsied sausages and baking an almond and cherry cake so OH can have more interesting packed lunches this week!
hope everyone is well - kiwiblue and OH especially.Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!'0 -
Such a joy reading all your posts and knowing there are still people around whose values are grounded in the simple values of life. Mine for today:
- Waking up hearing rain lashing on the windows and knowing I can stay in bed a little longer.
- Seeing the first snowdrops in bloom in a nearby garden, (Ours are barely showing through the soil yet).
- Nice phone call from an elderly housebound friend to whom I recently sent flowers
- Remembering to send an e-mail to somebody I know whose husband died a year ago yesterday, to let her know that he is not forgotten.
- Finally writing out this year’s “To Do” list and wondering how many items will have been ticked off by Dec 31st.
(Kiwiblue - kind thoughts winging across the miles to your OH)

Here's mine:
1. Learning how to use the coffee machine (OH has an all singing all dancing, filter, expresso, cappuccino machine) and having the smell lovely fresh coffee fill the flat.
2. Going for a walk (6 miles today) and being glad that I'm fairly fit and healthy and able to do that (but only just!).
3. Listening to the rain beating against the window while I was inside in the warm, having tea and crumpets.
4. Really not feeling that depressed on what is meant to be the "most depressing day" of the year
5. Making a batch of HM carrot lentil soup for lunches - not much left in the fridge before payday - and it tasting pretty goodworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
My 5 pleasures
1. changing all the beds, love getting in to a newly made up bed.
2. forcing myself to go to the gym after the school run, just felt like going to bed. Had more energy for going.
3. Cleaning the shower so I don't have to avert my eyes at the state of it when I go into the bathroom.
4. Taking my MIL shopping and actually only buying essentials.
5. Having a nice read and a cup of tea.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
Good morning all
Thanks for your kind thoughts, OH has just had a wonderful weekend and is back at work today. He is busy making a list of all the things he wants to do, so I am anticipating a very busy few months.
My five for yesterday.
1. Another batch of apricot chutney, just when I thought the tree had finished, there are still more fruit to be dealt to.
2. A friend dropped by for a "quick cuppa" and we chatted for 3 hours.
3. OH went quad biking in the forest with friends and they saw some Samba deer.
4. Breakfast with another friend, sitting outside beside a fire fueled with driftwood, just enjoying the companionship.
5. Finished stocking up the pantry, I don't drive, we live in a remote area with no shops, and OH will probably not be able to drive for 6 - 7 weeks after his operation, so have tried to stockpile everything I should need.

My 5 OS pleasures for today:
1) Re-joining the library after 15 years
2) Having homemade banana loaf with my packed lunch
3) Getting a lovely snuggly faux-fur gilet from a charity shop for £4
4) Getting my 'fuel saver' device (off ebay - am I a sucker?) in the post... just got to locate that darn fuel line
5) Laughing at myself for being so tight at the above, since I only drive a little Daewoo Matiz 795cc which uses hardly any petrol as it is! :rotfl:
But I did get a parking fine, which just about cancelled my feel-good feelings for the day :mad:0 -
Hi everyone - and Kiwiblue so glad to hear your OH has enjoyed a good weekend too.
Well, its my birthday today - on "the most depressing day of the year", so I was determined to count my blessings more than ever!
1. Enjoying texts and phone calls from loved ones - very lucky to have people in my life who remember my birthday.
2. Going to the library and feeling lucky that I have the time for a good browse around.
3. A close friend coming round for the afternoon for a natter.
4. Enjoying delicious hm turkey and vegetable soup for lunch - a favourite!
5. Mastering a new technique on a knitting pattern.0 -
First time I've posted on this thread - but I've been reading it for a little while now and it always makes me smile
My five:
1. Having a tasty "free" lunch of leftover stew from my SC yesterday
2. Putting on my oversized hoody when I got home - so cosy and didn't need to turn the heating up!
3. Cooking a lovely dinner (pasta with bacon, veggies and olives) - so glad to be back in the swing of cooking for myself
4. Chatting to my little sister on the phone
5. Sitting here in bed with my laptop, the cat, and an electric blanket...!
