    2) Finished next weeks meal plan.
    3) Spoke to a friend I haven't spoken to ages on the phone
    4) Walked to Lidl and back. My armes are linger but my store cupboard is topped up
    5) Moroccan lamb bubbling in my slow cooker
    6) About to declutter the younger boys' room
    7) Contemplating memories of my Aunt on the anniversary of her death.

    1. Managing to find 5 Autumn Bliss raspberry canes at a garden centre.Exactly the number I wanted as I've just cleared a small space for them and this variety can be cut down to their base every year, so no need to worry about supporting canes.
    2. Spotting woodpecker & wren in garden. (Hope they will re-appear for our RSPB survey this coming week-end.)
    3. Receiving gas bill & calculating that our daily gas cost for last 89 days has been £2.59 - less than I expected.
These three are enough to keep me going.

    Hi all

I can't believe I have left so much time between posts!

Sparrer, thanks for noticing, nothing was the matter with me other than being very busy. Glad to read that you are better after your cold.

Primrose, I am so sorry for your friend's illness, no words are adequate in these circumstances, but my thoughts are with you, her and her family.

I have so many pleasures accumulated over the last few days that I do not even know where to start! Here are a few of the most remarkable ones:

1 - I had an OS meet with two other London OSers and it was great, and the food cheap and lovely - and the background music was Abba (how perfect can you get?)

2 - Changed craft class from Tuesday afternoon to Monday evening because two friends of mine from knitting go there, this frees some weekday time for other activities (or to laze about!).

3 - My friend who was treated for breast cancer last year now has a full head of hair again, and looks lovely and well (thanks God!).

4 - I made a hoodie lining for DS's hoodie, on his request, and he is absolutely delighted with the result - so am I, couldn't believe that I am getting really crafty!

5 - Because of budgetary restrictions this month I have been able to make a lot more scratch meals from the veg box produce - and all my family loved them!

6 - Loads of 2 for 1 vouchers accumulated so that if I want to give myself a treat with DH I can go out (once) for dinner and still keep within budget.

7 - My knitting has progressed and the front of my jumper is well on its way!

8 - Regular Saturday evening meetings at friends' homes, bringing food to share, sitting around a table with like-minded friends chatting about green issues and other subjects.

9 - Very early beginning of discussions with other local people about turning our neighbourhood into a Transition Town - looooooong way to go, but hey, all journeys begin with the first step!

10 - Having a long chat with my mum today (she is in Italy, but I use a by-pass number that charges 0.5p per minute!).

11 - Finishing Nella Last's War and loving it all - now got to manage to get hold of Nella Last's Peace in the local library!

12 - My family, as always. DD and DS, as well as OH. They drive me nuts at times but I could not wish for a better bunch, really!

I could go on for much longer, but the above are the most relevant ones. I feel truly blessed!

I promise I shall try to come here more regularly, I love this thread!

    Good night all,

    Caterina :D
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I have had a very productive day today (don't seem to have had many of those lately for one reason or another.)

    1) Braving the use of my slow cooker once again :D
    2) Reading the Independent article someone posted a link to on another thread (sorry - i can't remember who) and altho horrified at the typical nineties' diet for a four-year-old, I am rather proud that my daughter's diet by far more resembles that of the healthier fifties child :T (reassurance of good parenting practice is always welcomed!)
    3) Getting down to the cleaning of my kitchen and feeling rather pleased with myself about it all.
    4) Finally managing to get stuck into a good hour of my studying which I haven't found time for lately.
    5) In-laws offered us their old dining set today (I say old - they have only had it about 2 years!) as they are re-decorating. Ours is far too big as it came from our last house which had a much larger dining area so well chuffed with that!
Love and compassion to all x

    My 5 pleasures (two days)
    1. Pathetic I know for a 42 yr old woman to get so excited but I was thrilled that Everton equalised agt Liverpool on Sunday. Watched it with OH, friends and my 2 eldest boys. (we are all season ticket holders.)

    2. Browsing Amazon for good books and reserving them online from Library. Costs £0.80 to reserve but as books about £4.00 to buy good saving.

    3. Just about to have an early night and go to bed with Ken Follett book that has v good reviews not forgetting my lovely hottie.

I think this is such a sweet nickname for your other half...... And I bet he thinks its a great way to cheer up a miserable winters night....

    1. Being able to choose whether to stay in or go out.

    2. I went out in lovely sunshine which was such a tonic.

    3. Saved £2.94 in Mr A on multibuys and their free range eggs were far cheaper than Mr. S. too.

    4. DH has been asked if he is still going to take my handcrafted cards in to work after he retires. I hope he does.

    5. Going to knit now and watch the rest of the DVD of Little House on the Prairie which I got in Smiths last week for £2.99 - opening offer. The rest of the series will be £6.99 each. I'd love to buy them but......, Well just let's say, not very OS.

    Bella.

  • Good morning everyone

    My five for today

    1. Tai Chi - its a great way to start the day.

    2. The very last batch of apricots are slowly turning into chutney.

    3. Picked a bucket of plums yesterday and they will be turned into plum chutney later today, I really need another preserving pan so that I can do two batches at once!

    4. Will be digging the potatoes this afternoon, indications are that there will be a good harvest.

    5. Harvesting the basil today and will be making bulk pesto.

    6. OH is busy planning to take the boat out tomorrow and go fishing with some friends. He tells me he will be targeting snapper, so I feel that a BBQ will be in order for tomorrow.

Oh dear, most of todays seem to revolve around food, still I guess its that time of the year here.

    Blessings be
    Jennie

    4. OH coming home from a long day cheffing and still being happy to cook tea so I could have a night off.
    5. Having an early night, completely non stressed and reading a good book in bed (not yet done that one obviously)

Think I must be what they call peri-menopausal, don't tell my husband but I much prefer to go to bed with my hottie and have a read than have sex:o I am just too tired after a long day at work, cooking meals, sorting kids out etc, etc. All I want to do is chill.
