Comments
-
1. getting given ingredients for my new bread-maker for my birthday by my work-mates very OS gift!
2. Eating leftovers for lunch and tasting good!
3,.Coming home to a clean house OH finally did some cleaning!
4. Home-made apple crumble in the oven as I type.
5. Getting up early and cleaning before work - quite satisfying0 -
Hi Primrose. I am very sorry about your friend. Perhaps you are her blessing.
I'm not sure I can contribute to this bit regularly but this is my list for today.
1) Getting to work on time. (I do try)
2) Having leftover HM curry and rice for lunch cost £0 and very tasty
3) Working with my friend, who has a wicked sense of humour.
4) Speaking to my sister in law on the phone. Her sister has died suddenly and it just reminded me of the value of family and friends and how lucky we are that my brother married her.
5) Hugging my DD after that call
Bless you all0 -
HI Primrose, my thoughts are with you, I hope that today will be a better day for you. After OH was diagnosed a friend sent me a box of aromatherapy products, just little things to pop in the bath or have around the house, so that when you walk into a room you catch the scent. It really does lift the mood (particularly if you have an oil burner with bergamot.)
Sparrer I hope that you are feeling better today.
My five for today:
1. Tai Chi at the neighbours.
2. The deep freeze I ordered months ago has finally arrived, will now have room for the garden and orchard excess.
3. Planning to spend the day picking blackberries on the esturary, just me the dog and miles of marsh, bliss.
4. Its a beautiful sunny day.
5. Hanging new curtains in the dining room, freshens and brightens the whole room.
Blessings be

Oooops, I'm lagging behind again, but here are five of my recent blessings.
1. The lovely pot of polyanths DD brought for me.
2. Cooking roast chicken yesterday which said it served 3-4. I made it feed 4 adults and 2 children and the pickings provided lunch for DH and me today. The carcas has been filed away in the freezer for future 'stock'.
3. Going shopping with DD and watching her spend while I mostly didn't. I did get a yellow stickered half shoulder of lamb which will make a nice Sunday dinner sometime.
4. DD wanted a liquid soap and handcream from M&S but we were running out of time so I said I would go and pay for them while she did something else. I found there was a three for two offer on so got a handcream for myself as well. I offered to split the difference with DD but she said I could have it - so free handcream for me.:T
5. Having a nice cuppa and a snooze when I came home before I tackled the ironing.

My 5 pleasures (two days)
1. Pathetic I know for a 42 yr old woman to get so excited but I was thrilled that Everton equalised agt Liverpool on Sunday. Watched it with OH, friends and my 2 eldest boys. (we are all season ticket holders.)
2. Browsing Amazon for good books and reserving them online from Library. Costs £0.80 to reserve but as books about £4.00 to buy good saving.
3. Just about to have an early night and go to bed with Ken Follett book that has v good reviews not forgetting my lovely hottie.
4. The pleasure of hearing my just turned 6 yr old son read his school book to me without any help from me at all. Lovely to see the progress.
5. Getting rid of a stack of old magazines- do I really need an Ideal Home magazine that hasn't been looked at for 2 years????Money SPENDING Expert0 -
My thoughts are with you Primrose & your friend. I can relate as same happened to my mil & auntie & it is so unfair and makes you so sad & angry - but try to be strong & be there for your friend as much as you can be.
My 5 for today are;
1) After reading Primrose's post Im grateful that my family & I are in good health.
2) Hearing my mum say that she thinks im a lovely mum.
3) Trying on a dress that is nearly 2 years old & being overjoyed that it still fits me.
4) Wearing a pair of high heels & feeling feminine (for a change)
5) Recieving a text from my hubby telling me he loves me (to just recieve a text from him is special enough so this was really sweet of him) :lovethoug0 -
1. Last nights curry at a cost of about 25p if that tops.. has done me for 2 meals worth - one of which I froze.
2. Making HM soup - chicken and veg with veg mix, wild rice and yellow split peas- huge portion for dinner, 3 one person portions to freeze and about 3 more left in the pan for the next few days.
3. seeing how far the chicken went - roast with corn for dinner, sandwiches for the football, curry for last nights dinner (1 to freeze) soup (3 to freeze and about 3 or 4 left. If i could be bothered to make stock form scratch which I wouldnt get the use out of anyway, I'd have had so much value from a small chicken even IF the price is a lot more than they used to be.
4. ys river cobbler and curly kale for dinner.
5.OBAMAS INAUGURATION
6. tidying papers to take to recycling
7. finding 2pairs mens small pj bottoms and a pair of almost new jeans in the flats communal bins, washing them and hopefully they will fit me
8. nutmeg in my HM lemsip..What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Beat you to it tonight Broomstick
Thank you all so very much for your kind thoughts :A . I'm feeling better today, with the neb, inhalers, anti-b's, steroids blah blah blah...I've had these (steroids) before but don't think they work too well, I haven't grown any muscles or a beard(yet!!!!)
Dear Primrose my thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend. Words are superfluous but I'll say a wee one for you both anyway..
Bluenose I'm sorry to hear about your neighbour, all you can do is let him know you're there whenever he needs to talk about her, yell and rant, or just ask how to poach an egg (figuratively speaking). Blessings to you both..
Just a by the by, I haven't seen Catrina post for a day or so. Hope she's okay...
Tuesday blessings
1. DM has pulled out of plans for a holiday with DGD and myself - in a way it's a blessing as DM does, umm...imbibe..rather a lot and I really don't think it's the best environment for a 12 y/o. Also don't think I could cope if she were to fall or something...Am still taking her to Sussex in June, just the 2 of us which is more manageable.
2. Made a tiny whoopsied £2 streeeeeetch chicken into 3 roast dinners, 3 kormas, the dog had the wings (raw of course) which is his favourite treat, and simmered the skin and bones with the veg trimmings which produced a litre of rich stock. Seems a lot of us are using our streeeeetch chickens today
3. DN(eighbour) saw the doc leaving and immediately phoned to ask if there's anything she could do, collect scrip etc. I'm so blessed to have such lovely neighbours, always looking out for, and helping, each other.
4. One of the snowdrops in the caulron outside the back door is a good inch taller than the others, and in flower...it seems to be looking over the others and encouraging them to bloom. Hope there aren't any hard frosts before they do
5. Treated myself to a banana sandwich for supper (to use up the heel of a hm loaf so I can justify making another tomorrow). All the pills and potions could be working, I think I could actually taste the banana!
Sorry it's long-winded tonight. Thinking of you all
God bless, Sparrer0 -
Sparrer - Oh rats! You did!
Hugs to all that are feeling poorly or sad.
My five pleasures for today are:
1. DS1 caught up with doing all his washing, of which there was a lot, and hung it out on the line. Then, mid-afternoon, in the space of about a minute, our clear sunny sky turned dark and began a gigantic hail storm. He and I rushed outside to save the nearly dry washing just wearing jeans and t-shirts. The feeling of being hailed on heavily when you aren't wearing sensible clothes is extraordinary. We were shrieking with laughter. It was a lovely shared moment and the washing has dried off indoors.
2. Seeing the TV reports from older people who had campaigned in the civil rights protests fifty years ago and had made the journey to be at Obama's inauguration. Their stories were soooo moving. I had the telly on while I was working and kept stopping to watch the ceremony.
3. Working out my day to day accounts and things still looking more positive than they have done in ages.
4. Having a bar of chocolate to celebrate!
5. Putting in a substantial organic food co-op order of basic food which I'll collect on Thursday. Our store cupboard will be really full.
Off to use up the accidentally heated water (the timer went wrong tonight!) on a late night bath....
Sleep well everyone.0 -
1. (will be later) going to the farm shop to get some butter and cheese - always feel good buying locally
2. reading my veg-growing books i hired from the library yesterday
3. making h/m toad in the hole for dinner
4. our egg-selling container for selling our eggs at the gate is almost built now - just a case of blackboard-painting it, and making the lid!
5. thinking about opening our 2nd-to-last jar of h/m rhubarb chutney to have with a slice of cheese from the farm shop... mmmmmmmm0
