Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Visited local shopping centre today - first time shopping for a few weeks cos thursday was paaaaaydaaaaaaay!
1. Lovely sunshiney morning today - such a pity it didn't last past 3.00pm tho!
2. Visited our very friendly local charity shop (more like a drop-in centre than a real charity shop!). Picked up two NEW cookery books (Party Food by Jan Stephensohn & Nice and Simple - Healthy Cooking), two cassettes of Christmas Music (Daniel O'Donnell and James Galway - to put with the rest of my collection for pensioner's parties) plus two murder stories to read - total cost £1.50!
3. Delicious cup of coffee in same shop (freshly-made Americano) £1.25 (would have been at least £2.20 in the posh coffee shop!).
4. Met up with 2 friends that I haven't seen for a while and spent a lovely hour chatting over our coffees.
5. A wander around B&M Bargains and HomeBargains - found a few little gems in both - reduced price coffee, christmas cookie decorating kits(25p) for grandkids-use by end of March, primula cheese spread, Bertolli Rusticana pasta sauce 49p, plus some things to put away for next Xmas!
6. Buying the Big Issue and chatting to the seller for a few minutes.
7. Went into MrA for shopping and took advantage of some Curry Counter whoopsies; 3 chickens for £10; found rollbacks on lots of things that I do normally buy - plus used up some coupons that I found in MrA magazines!
8. Decided to have lunch in the MrA cafe before going home as OH was out (Jacket Spud with prawn marie-rose topping, salad and (another) coffee - plus free refill - for less than £4 .
9. Got back home just in time to beat the rain!!!
10. Washing done before I went out and dried on airers because I knew the rain was forecast (so no TD used).
Planning a bake it, cook it, freeze it day tomorrow.

Saturday blessings...
1. DGD had a sleepover with neighbours DD, I'm grateful there's someone of a similar age who she gets on with well when she comes to stay (even if I don't get to see much of her!)
2. Had lunch in Pizza Hut with the 50% off voucher I was given - we had the loveliest waiter who couldn't do enough for us even though it was packed to the doors with parties. He even gave me a balloon to take homewhich DGD was most embarrassed about, ha ha
3. Stopped at the carwash on the way home but it was out of order so we
went to the handwash place. There were 5 cars in the queue so we went home and did it ourselves...got soaked and frozen but it saved £5
4. DGD made a second loaf of bread but I didn't get to see what she did as she wanted to make it all by herself. It rose just as perfectly as yesterdays, I wonder if I'll ever know how she does it?
5. We bought a lottery ticket but only got one number again - ah well, at least I'm consistent...0 -
1. Made a Swiss Mess ( meant to be Swiss Roll
) to use up some cream getting close to use by date. It kind of collapsed and folded as I was tryimg to roll it, but ne'er mind it'll taste just grand.
2. Washed out a ziplock bag, which in a previous life would have bee thrown away.
3. Made Coleslaw to go with my dinner.
4. Dinner is second meal from a joint I cooked yesterday (more of the same tomorrow).
5. Not having to worry about dinner tonight as it was all planned and ready to throw together, hence plenty of spare time ( all of 15 minutes) to make the Swiss Mess and do some gardening.Mortgage
Start January 2017: $268,012
Latest balance $266,734
Reduction: $1,278.450 -
Todays pleasures:
1. Picking out a handful of home grown beetroots from the bucket of dry compost in which I stored them in autumn, for a roasted winter veg mixture later this week.
2. Rescuing some worms I found struggling in the bottom of our mini pond.
3. Laughing at myself when I discovered a large split in my green garden Cloggies this morning and remembering we had some Duct Tape in the garage, so they are now repaired in the mode of the Welsh gentleman who won the "Meanest Man in Britain" award!. The silver tape looks awful though, so I'll paint over it with some of our green fencing stain. Hopefully they'll last me a while longer. (The economy will never get going again with people like me, will it?):rotfl:
4. Lovely sunny day, blue skies, birds singing and red kite visiting us again overhead.0 -
This is such an uplifting thread, thanks everyone, its really cheered me when I’ve been going through a bad time
Reverbe, fingers crossed for the job- beautiful sunshine today
- knowing that spring is on the way if lambs are in the fields - I’m looking out for them now
- a mass of flowers on a primrose in my garden and another bloom open on the shrub rose, beside the front door; its flowered non stop since last March when I first came to look at this house
- finding out my jam pan ready for preserving – I plan to do a lot this year
- a postcard and messages from dd and her family on their Great Ocean Road trip – my dgd is now a 'standing-up-on-the-board surfer'

1. Finally getting through a massive headache to get on with things
2. Feeling rather more OS than I have done of late
3. Doing pilates from a DVD for a bit of home fitness - prevention being better than cure
4. Making a big batch of breakfast bars so I don't reach for snack-type, sugar-laden stuff in the mornings
5. Rooting through my spice jars and making lamb tikka kebabs for tea with salad, and feeling rather virtuous today.

1.Have smug sense of achievement , as despite being domestically challenged and terminally idle have cleaned fridge, microwave and kitchen bin!
2.Currently sitting in warm house, at computer ,while through the window I can see DH re-assembling our long neglected greenhouse for use this spring. We will need to replace some glass panels but he is doing a great job and still goingdespite the fading light.
3. I'm not that mean though, 20 minutes ago I did give him a a cup of tea and slice of warm bread from the breadmaker .
4. I need to go in a minute and pick DD9 and her friend up from their rehearsal for 'Joseph'. When she gets in DD and I will plant some seeds in pots on the window sill ready for the greenhouse.
5. Then we will have yummy home made fish pie for tea. I made it during my last batch cooking sesssion and all I had to do today was defrost and re-heat.Now that really appeals to my idle streak!Nothing in it, nothing in it but a ribbon round it .....0 -
1. Getting a stairgate from freecycle, for my son & his g/f who need one for their littlie
2. Calling in at the tip on the way back and picking up more fantastic things than you could shake a stick at for the princely sum of £2
3. Roasting a joint that's been in the freezer long enough now, and knowing that tomorrow's dinner is sorted too.
4. Getting the painting started in the kitchen - the final stage in a 4 month overhaul that I thought would never end
5. Finding a pair of sports gloves in the back of a drawer that I had thought were lost and gone for good.
