  • Taking my dogs to the park for a walk.
    Baking my own bread ...mmmmm
Planning my garden for the year ahead (need to fence off the chickens who've had the run of the garden all winter) - on the lookout for free wood or frame tent poles.
Seeing my lovely son who's been away at his dads for almost a week!
Watching our newly acquired 'rescue' dog playing for the first time with one of our other dogs. Bless her, she's settling in nicely to this madhouse.

    Have a lovely day everyone
I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

My OS pleasures today (Thursday) are:-
    2) Making 2 cups of tea with 1 tea bag.

I have been doing this for months and my flatmate doesnt even notice. I even started to reuse them to get like 4 cups out of it. Still he doesnt notice. I can't get him to start doing it but I put them aside and when I make the drinks they get reused...;)

    1. Putting the old Xmas cards aside for "cannibalising" to do HM cards. (A new project for me - if anyone can point me to a website for cardmaking newbies, I'd be grateful)
    2. Planning to use up some root veg that need eating up, for tonight's dins.
    3. Putting last couple of slices of Yule cake on a plate, and finding that the pretty board is still in good enough condition to be wiped and put away for yet another re-use.
    4. Catching up with the month-end household accounts and finding that the last phone bills (landline and mobile) were a lot less than was budgetted for.:j:j:j
    5. Finally being able to dust the lounge properly, now the Yule decs are down.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    New Years Eve Pleasures

    5. Free drinks, sausage rolls and sausages samples from M&S

    6. Finding the party food items I went to Tescos for reduced.

Haven't been able to post my pleasures for a coupla days for a few reasons. - virus and net connection issues, feeling a bit poorly but mostly cos I have been very down the last coupla days and sitting there trying to find even one pleasure was hard. I sent a lot of texts to my friend over the last week being lonely and alone and missing them and they could not even be bothered to reply. Treasure your friends and family as a few seconds chat or text would have made the difference between my being happy over the holidays and my feeling down.

I hope all you OS lovely folks had a good New Year tho.

Cheer up Reverbe, having to 'look' for pleasures is what this thread is all about. Sometimes we do have to look very hard but even the most hum-drum activity can become a pleasure if we look hard enough.

My pleasures today have been fairly routine things but at least I've had the health and strength to do them and that alone is a blessing.

    1. Stripping out the bedroom after DGCh'n went home. It's been lovely having them this holiday but I also like peace and quiet and order.

    2. Sheets blowing on the line in the sun. Not quite dry but smell lovely.

    3. Baking three loaves of bread and apple and blueberry muffins which I made with blueberries bought for 49p reduced from £1.79.

    4. A nice simple evening meal from leftovers from New Year meal with salad and a jacket potato.

    5. Fish pie made ready to heat in the Remoska tomorrow while we are out shopping.

    Bella.

Serving up yesterday's mash with frozen whoopsie sausages and baked beans from the fridge for tea.

Getting £9 discount code, almost £9 Quidco cashback and Clubcard Points for TV DH decided to get (downsizing!)

Offering our old, far-too-large TV to a Freecycler who posted asking if anyone had one going spare.

Seeing friends over from the States for a pub lunch, supporting our new local landlords.

Seeing DH clearing out the garage ready to have the floor sealed ... and knowing that some of those paint cans have gone for good this time!

It makes you wonder why you bother sometimes doesn't it - how long would it take them to reply to a text after all? my 'friends' are terrible for this. hope you're feeling better now though.:j

    What a lovely thread.
Has made me think that I need to start appreciating the pleasures I get each day.
    1. Watching Toy Story 2 with my husband and the kids under our warm blankets eating tangies and chocolate.
    2. Playing charades with OH and the kids (my husband had to be forced.) Even my very quiet 15 year old son enjoyed it and I haven't seen him so unhibited and laugh like that for ages.
    3. Playing Uno with my 5 year old.
    4. Having a lovely hot shower.
    5. Reading on my bed for 1/2 hour - The Forgotten Garden - a very good book.
