    1. Freecycling more things, including unused radiator reflector panels, barely opened cheffy cookbooks and sons' clothes.

    2. Clearing two drawers of odds and ends from my former 'study' so that my son can use them for his clothes (it's been his bedroom for months now!).

    3. Filling LOTS of bags of charity shop things and rubbish and seeing the garage almost empty, ready to have the floor sealed next week.

    4. DH coming back from a skip-trip with a tray of defrosted sausages from his Dad - enough for casserole tonight and breakfast tomorrow.

    5. Seeing my sons and their pals playing Hide and Seek and playing with their stomp rocket in the freezing cold but fresh air.

    Saturday blessings...

    1. A lovely lay-in til DS left for work, then bathroom was all mine with no-one hammering on the door!

    2. Cleaned the oven - oh dear, what a disgace. I'd phoned a company who wanted £65  to clean it so I bought a box of gunge for £4 and did it myself. The oven racks were shiny silver when I took them out of the cleaning bag, I always thought they were supposed to be black ;)

    3. DS ate at work so I had bottom of the fridge omelette with onion, brocolli florets, grated carrot, diced yellow pepper and mangy toots, topped with the last of the gluten free parmesan-type cheese I bought when a friend came to lunch last October. Sounds yukky but tasted yummy :D

    4. Had a NS day, decided the laptop bought on Thurs was enough spend for a year! Now I just have to replace the £'s as it's my retirement fund - the fact that I retired last year has nothing to do with it (the retired will understand )

    5. Got the Sun £9.50 holiday package through the post, now just have to wait til DM decides where she wants to go. She did mention Guernsey but I don't think they run to that ;)

Hi - it's terribly late and I must go to bed but can I join in too with mine for Saturday?

    1. Winding up a skein of really beautiful alpaca wool into a ball ready to start knitting.

    2. Beginning to knit the first pair of socks I have made in years - all because my decluttering has meant that I have unearthed and sorted out all my old knitting wool and needles and spinning equipment.

    3. Finding a pair of leather shoes in the sales for my youngest teenage son who is on a growth spurt and will no doubt need a new pair in a couple of months. He likes them. They look good and only cost £11 after a massive reduction. <vbg>

4 Eating pieces of home-made fudge (made by oldest teenage son).

    5. Taking slightly damp washing off the line that had got left on there a bit too late this evening so that everything had frozen solid. It still makes me smile when I have to unhook jeans and towels because they are fixed in that position then balance them flat on the laundry basket rather than put them in it.

    Night night

    Hello everybody,

My five os pleasures for today are:-

    1) Looking at the sunshine peeping over snow capped mountains.

    2) Seeing a neighbour take their 4 dogs out for a run and a play in the snow.

    3) The smell of HM bread in the breadmaker (again).

    4) Cutting up a large cereal packet to make dividers for the lever arch file that is now storing all my bank statements. Then also saving the sides for shopping lists and notes.

    5) Conjuring up a recipe to use up 4 chicken wings that have been lurking in the freezer.

    6) Making chicken stock with bones from chicken thighs used in chicken curry that we had for tea.

I feel like I've had a right good day today, I hope everybody else has too.

Caterina thanks for your kind wishes but I wasn't glum yesterday, I was wishing everybody else well. But if I may, can I bank your wishes for when I do need them? lol.

P.S. 7) Also, am re-using teabags as per discussed with Reverbe and I'm amazed that it's really ok to do this, the tea tastes fine, 3 cups from 1 bag, "It's the future!".
  • Mine for yesterday are (always a day behind!)

    1. Making cheese biscuits from a bit of cheese that had gone all hard in the fridge
    2. Shining my sink
    3. Preparing the coffee maker for the next morning
    4. Cutting up the Xmas cards for gift tags for next year
    5. Mending a pair of socks
  • Hi all
Haven't been on this thread since before Christmas as my OH was diagnosed with cancer, haven't been feeling very blessed.
however, I will not let it get me down, so my blessings for today are:
    1. Oh had the foresight to have private medical insurance, so all hospital costs are paid for, and there is no queuing for treatment.
    2. Foraged for wild plums today, filled a bucket and am currently looking at plum wine recipes.
    3. Have been totally overwhelmed by the support from family, friends, neighbours and even people we don't know very well, feeling blessed to live in a tiny village, everyone may know whats going on, but there are so many people with kind words and actions.
    4. Beautiful summers day today, went down to the beach and spent some time in solitude.
    5. The wild blackberries are red, will be ripe soon.
    Blessings be.
