Caterina thanks for your kind wishes but I wasn't glum yesterday, I was wishing everybody else well. But if I may, can I bank your wishes for when I do need them? lol.

Awfully sorry Kerfuffle, I must have got myself muddled, I have a job trying to keep up with all the lovely postings here, but of course you can keep my good wishes! In fact, why not change them to good wishes that everything keeps going well for you! :j

    My five for today:

1 - This is in absolute the very best today for me, attending a friend's birth and witnessing the most beautiful, peaceful, relaxed home water birth that I have ever attended in my life, gorgeous baby girl born at 5:26 am. Glorious!

2 - Walking in the light snow on my way back from my friend's birth just after 6am (just round the corner) and feeling that the world, all snow-capped, is a beautiful place!

3 - My friend and colleague coming over at 1pm to do some work with me but first sharing a great lunch of salad, bread, poached eggs and a really tasty Old Gouda that she brought with her.

4 - Innumerable cups of tea (and biscuits :o ) while working with my friend, what a pleasure for a change not being all alone in my office banging on the computer keys and wishing for the time to go faster!

5 - Being so sleep-deprived after spending the night at the birth and the day working (and DH too tired to cook after a long day work) we decided to treat ourselves to an Indian takeaway (the OS bit is that we only order side veg portions and we boil our own rice, which cut the cost quite dramatically).

    Good night all!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Good morning everyone. Thanks again for the messages of support, it really does help to know that people half the world away are sending positive vibes. we will come through this setback and will be the stronger for it.

anyway, enough doom and gloom, my five for today are:

    1. Its a beautiful Summer's day.

    2. My apricot tree is laden with golden fruit, keeps me busy dealing with the crop.

    3. Making progress in the vegetable plot, has been sadly neglected of late.

    4. Spending time with Oh at 4am, he's down with an infection which meant he couldn't sleep, so we had a great time chatting through the night.

    5. Have set up the swimming pool for summer, and will be enjoying the first swim of the season.

    Blessings be
    Jennie

Kiwiblue, I just read the bad news you had the other day and wanted to add my best wishes together with everyone else's in this thread. I shall pray for you and your OH and hope that everything resolves itself for the best!

  • I've been feeling unwell with ear pain and migraine/lack of sleep today, but here are my OS blessings:

    1) Reading everybody's positive messages and blessings (hugs to kiwiblue). Keep 'em coming!

    2) Have been determined to get more into an OS way of life, so will definitely be looking into growing my own veg.

    3) On the OS theme, watched the first ever episode of 'The Good Life' earlier. What a great and funny way to make the viewer ponder the meaning of life......!

    4) My partner agreed with my growing veg in the garden idea! :D

    5) I'm going to have some hot chocolate soon. :D
  • 1 The 'huge' pile of ironing i had been avoiding for a week actually only took 30 mins to do while drinking hot tea and watching usually forbidden morning rubbish tv ( think jeremy kyle )
2 a lovely but icey walk with the dog and even lovelier the getting warm when we came in afterwards
3 sponge cakes that i made at the weekend being a massive success with everyone - - they all seem to be commenting and i can only think that its because i added a couple of spoons of milk to the mix instead of warm water
4 a hot water bottle shoved up my jumper as i walk round the house
5 sleeping alone and not trying to impress. hence: bed socks, fleecy jimjams with sweat shirt over, bed hat and yes - hwb stuffed inside my waist band : )
