Tuesday blessings...
1. Visited DD, took cards/pressies for DGS, 15 today  and DGD2, 12 on Thursday  where does the time go? Enjoy the little ones now, they're gone all too soon..
2. Had a lovely long chat with DGD1 who told me all about her 1st driving lesson - the instructor kept having to tell her to slow down
3. A no spend and no cook day and only me for dinner so I had the leftover (rabbit, yummy) casserole from yesterday.
4. Bought a 2 litre flask for £5 for my cuppas so I just need heat the kettle once a day. Well, twice perhaps, as I'm such a tea addict
5. My slipper came off under the comp desk just now and when I knelt down to get it out I found a £1 coin and 2 x 1p..they've gone straight into the Christmas 09 savings pot :j
6. Thanking God for my precious family and sending virtual hugs to Kiwiblue, HariboJunkie and anyone else who is going through a difficult time0 -
My 5 pleasures
1. I made a home made birthday cake for my son for the first time ever. It didn't rise very well, in fact it hardly rose at all and was very stodgy but my husband and the kids thought it was lovely.
2. Had videod an old musical film "Hello Dolly" with Barbara Streisand and Walter Matthau. It was great to watch it with the fire on covered in a heavy blanket. My husband and 3 sons are footy mad so I waited until they were all out.
3. Looking at my hyacinth on the windowsill beginning to flower makes me think of Spring.
4. Sorted out my sons pyjamas drawer as I am fed up with him being in odd PJ's. Got rid of all the ones that are too small and paired those left correctly.
5. Have put 5 Charity bags in the boot to take to the Charity Shop as my husband and I have had a big de-clutter over the last week or two.
I really enjoy writing about my pleasures as it makes me think and appreciate what I have done rather than just going through the motions. Think I may start listing them in my diary before I go to bed.Money SPENDING Expert0 -

P.S Caterina, how do you make your rice and peas soup please?
The fancy, highfalutin version (so to speak :rotfl: ):
Chop an onion, fry in some oil, add freshly shelled peas, add rice and sautee until all ingredients are covered in oil, cover with boiling hot water, add some stock powder (I use marigold), simmer, once rice is cooked serve with freshly grated parmesan and a sprinkle of pepper.
The basic version:
Boil a kettle of water, put water in a pan on the fire, add a handful of frozen peas and half a cupful of rice, add stock cube or powder, cook until rice is soft. Even on the basic version it is best to grate parmesan on top but if that's not available, cheddar will do!
Buon appetito!

1. Going a long bus ride to Mr. A to see if I could find any bargains - I couldn't, but I enjoyed the ride.
2. Sitting knitting this afternoon and watching it snow outside. It always makes me feel decadent to be sitting knitting in the daytime but if this half price sale wool I bought is ever going to actually be anything, then I have to stick at it.
3. Getting the kitchen cleaned while the tea was cooking. It has felt just too cold to venture in there for the last day or too but today I was actually warm.
4. Enjoying the 'positive' vibes this thread gives out. Without the focus it has given me this could have been a down day.
5. More knitting tonight so better get clicking.
