Yesterday/Today so far blessings:
1. Went on a dry ski slope in Manchester with the kids. Free as dh works for the company who set it up.
3. Spent the evening playing on the Wii & playing card games with youngest ds & dh - a truly lovely evening & enjoyed not going out.
4. My 14 yr old Labrador (very old & doddery now, bless) woke me up this morning as she needed the toilet. It's the first time she's been upstairs to see anyone for a couple of months.
Happy New Year to everyone. I hope that 2009 brings everyone some happy & healthy times and the strength to deal with the rest. Take care everyone. xx0 -
Yesterday
- walking into town and not buying anything, just doing the jobs I needed to do
- turning the heating off the timer because we wouldn't be home
- a lovely picky dinner at my friends...all homemade food and gorgeous
- reading a bedtime story to her one year old whilst she cuddled up on my knee
- drinking a little too much, but enjoying the company immensely and having the first new years eve in as long as I can remember where I didn't feel depressed!!0 -
1. A lovely walk on the hills this morning. The frost on the trees had transformed the world into a winter wonderland.
2. Coffee and homemade biscuits served to family (on the hills) from the back of the car.
3. Giving family Roast Beef dinner followed by sherry trifle.
4. Playing old fashioned games (i.e. the ring is on the string) with family this afternoon.
5. Two lovely DGCh'n now asleep upstairs in bed and me about to follow them right now.
Goodnight to all and all the best for the New Year to everyone.

Using up the egg yolks from pavlova making in 2 quiches, one for Saturday, one for the freezer
Discovering my pots of salad in the greenhouse have survived the vicious frost (thought they were dead last night when I went out for a recce). Ate some with dinner
Spending late afternoon on Singstar with DH and kids. Loads of fun
Made a large pot of veg soup for tomorrow's lunch, and for lunches next week when we're back at work
Freezing walk with DH and kids to a local pond. Admiring the frosted spider webs which looked like silly string!
Happy New Year!0 -
1. Cleaning the fridge.
2. Checking through the cupboard contents and ordering an online shop including multisaves on bulk buying washpowder.
3. Clearing the cupboard - and putting long-forgotten cereals on the bird-table.
4. Bagging up outgrown children's clothes for Freecycle (hoping some Freecycle karma will come my way soon :-)
5. Baked potatoes for tea for the first time in ages.0 -
1. A beautiful walk round a partly frozen reservoir where every plant and tree was covered in frost - did this with my OH, my best friend and her husband.
2. Not sure it's OS but raclette for lunch with above friends - first time I've really had it and it was amazingly delicious.
3. Spent the afternoon knitting Shaun the Sheep, a kit given to me by my above friend.
4. Visited friends tonight and ate red lentil kofte, a Turkish speciality for which I now have the fantastically cheap and easy recipe!
5. Had a No Spend Day, so got the OS New Year off to a flying start!0 -
1. Baked some 'twinks' this morning - will take some to my sister tomorrow when I go a-visiting.
2. Lovely roast lunch - all the better for being whoopsied organic leg of pork with stuffing, roast and mashed pots, roasted parsnips, carrots and cabbage (all from my freezer-stash).
3. Had a kitchen cupboard sort-out while waiting for lunch to cook - all nice and neat and tidy now- can't believe how many lidded tubs I've amassed over the last few months (and that doesn't include all the ones in the freezer with things in them!).
4. Discovered 'christmas goodies' still lurking at the back of the corner cupboard - that's what I get for buying stuff in advance and then hiding them:o.
5. Got plenty of left-overs from today's lunch for sandwiches and bubble-and-squeak for lunch and evening meal tomorrow.
6. Made a 'Christmas Notebook' of what works and what doesn't for future reference - I always forget what I did/didn't do from one year to the next. This should help jog the memory next year.

Thursday blessings...
1. It's New Years Day and for the third year in a row I didn't wake up with a hangover or in blackout :j . I remember everything about New Years Eve and how much I enjoyed it even though I was on my own (see yesterdays blessings)
2. This morning the first snowdrop bud is on the point of opening - I can definitely see white!
3. The bromeliad that I found in a skip 12 years ago is also on the point of flowering yet again
4. Seeing the 50 snowdrops I planted in a 'cauldron' look so good has given me an idea for pressies for next Christmas
5. No very OS I know but I bought a laptop todaywhich was reduced by £100, I got it via Nectar with double points, my pc and large desk will go into the local paper to help offset the cost and I can turn my comp room/glory hole back into the 3rd bedroom for when DGD comes to stay
