You know I love this thread. I am feeling very sad at the moment and missing my friend who left our friendship this year. Christmas Day is her birthday and last year she helped me to enjoy Christmas for the first time in my life but just taking part in this thread every day makes me at least try to find something nice about every day even though times are hard and finances low at the moment.

Hope all the OS pleasure posters have a lovely time this Christmas with their loved ones.

  • 1. Early morning cuddles in bed with DGC'n which very soon turned into a duvet fight.

    2. Walking to the shops with them so that they could buy pressies in Poundland for their mum. Mission successful but highly secret due to a lurker. Are you there DD?

    3. DGD making marzipan fruits for her Dad - an annual ritual but last year DGS showed signs of boredom so this time he made a marzipan cheetah, and very good it looks too.

    4. DGC'n wrapping their pressies in some of my last year's leftover snowflake paper and making matching gift tags with scraps of card and snowflakes punched out of white paper with one of my card making punches.

    5. And now for the moment of bliss when they are tucked up in bed. I love every minute of the day with them but I can still enjoy the peace when they are at last asleep. How I will miss them tomorrow night when they have gone home.

Been busy in the kitchen today so I have a few things to add :) I know its not 5 but I have literally been in the kitchen all day!

    1. Putting on some red cabbage to salt for pickling tomorrow and peeling 1kg of shallots for pickled onions.
    2. Blitzing the house with OH so it took half the time and is now spotless, lets see how long it lasts ;)
    3. Packing up the last of my HM food hampers to take to MIL tomorrow (apple ginger jam, lemon & lime marmalade, pickled onions, butternut squash chutney and rum raisin fudge).
    4. Taking my first HM christmas cake round to MIL (we are going there for Christmas day etc).
    5. Throwing together a batch of christmas muffins using the end of a jar of HM mincemeat and they were delicious.
    6. Making steak and guinness pie from scratch for dinner with braised red cabbage and keeping half to go in the freezer for next week.
    7. Reading Good Food mag for inspiration with my feet up and a cuppa by my side

    Tuesday blessings...

    1. Taking stock of the food situation and knowing that, except for milk, I don't have to shop for at least another 2 weeks.

    2. Telling the lady in the charity shop that the dinner service they've priced at £10 could fetch over £100 at auction. I know as I've been collecting this pattern for 30 years as a retirement investment. Sure I could have snapped it up myself, at one time I would have done, but a) it's a charity for folks a lot worse off than me, b) my house is awash with the stuff! and c) I may be an MSE'er but I firmly believe that what goes around, comes around. (See 1, 3, 4 and 5 ;) )

    3. Found a really useful fawn cardi which looks like new in the charity shop for £2.99p.

    4. Had Spanish omelette for dinner, with yummy smoked sausage courtesy of a Hungarian friend

    5. Found a tea rose in the market called Whiskey Mac, which is what my dear late step-dad used to like to drink. Bought it to take to DM on Boxing Day.

I've reported the above poster (jamyholi) as I suspect its either a spammer building up post count or someone who's been hitting the yuletide bottle  and I thanked them by mistake!!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Thats a beautiful soft orange coloured rose, I have 2 in my garden. I'm sure your DM will be very touched :o

After yesterdays madness today will be peaceful by comparison.

    1. Sitting with my feet up, a HM mincemeat muffin and a cup of tea watching Santa Claus the movie

    2. Making shortbread to take to some friends on Christmas day when we visit as I hate going empty handed

    3. Making OH's favourite dinner rather than getting a takeaway as he is fed up having to work today

    4. Using up leftovers for my lunch

    5. Playing chase with the cat as she loves it, it also means I crawl round the house commando-style (no not nude ) playing peep-o until she gets thoroughly over-stimulated and bats me on the head :rotfl:
