    Wednesday blessings

    1. Had a real girlie day out with the friend who's visiting from Rhodes and had a deliciously cheap lunch in a pub 'coffee bar' - it's set apart from the bar area which was great for me as I don't drink alcohol any more :D

    2. Found a real butcher ...one who makes his own faggots, pies and sausages, sells any game you care to mention, and has a cashier who sits in a little wooden booth at the back of the shop. It so reminded me of my chldhood as my late dear step-dad was a butcher in just such a place, the only difference today is they don't allow sawdust on the floor of course

3.Found a pair of new M&S trousers still with the label on in a charity shop for £3.99p:T

    4. Bought a mug of tea from a tea shop for a down-and-out who was sitting nearby - he was so grateful he couldn't stop saying 'thank you lady' over and over again :o

    5. We're out for the day again tomorrow so I coooked tomorrows dinner this evening - so no rushing back to get a meal after our outing :D
  • 1. Marvelling at the theraputic qualities of this thread. Stopping to think of five pleasures is such at tonic.

    2. Starting to get the bedroom ready for my grandchildren coming to stay next week.

    3. Having a long talk on the phone with DD (talktalk so no cost incurred) about her future knitting plans. No I couldn't spare the 45 mins but it's just so wonderful to have a daughter to talk to and a daughter that knits well, you can't get more OS than that.

    4. Hanging the sheets on the line outside in the sun, they didn't quite dry as we only get the sun on our garden for a short time at the moment but as my mum would have said they 'lightened'.

    5. Looking after and putting my DGD 6 to bed while the rest of the family were out.

    Bella.

    Hi all

I do not want to skip a day again, so here I am! My five for today:

1 - I have regained my home quiet after three days of DS's friends parking themselves here. It was quite stressful and I am glad to see the back of them.

2 - DS has been impeccably behaved and has unfailingly tidied up and cleaned after his not-so-tidy friends, he has also kept them as far as possible out of my way. It is good to see that he is much more mature these days!

3 - My yoga class this morning, even if tinged with a little sadness because the FAB teacher is going back to Australia after many years of living and teaching yoga in the UK (one of the best teacher of yoga I have ever had!).

4 - Seeing an ex-colleague of mine who contacted me to ask me advice about his DD (who is very young and has just had a baby). It was really good to catch up with him in the pub that used to be our old hangout!

5 - I have managed to eat sensibly today and made a very tasty tofu and mix veg stir fry with brown rice for dinner.

    Good night all!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Thursday blessings..

    1. Oh what a beautiful morning! :j

2.We went to Peterborough to a craft place where my visiting friend bought what seemed like the whole warehouse to make cards etc when she goes back to Rhodes. They even have their own studio where we were allowed to watch as they did a live broadcast/card-making demonstation on Sky. Still not keen on this sort of craft for myself but it was a very interesting experience

    3. Not sure but I think my DS, who had his heart so cruelly broken recently, may be seeing somebody. He went out this evening and came back late but didn't say where to, or why. He says he'll also be out tomorrow evening...I'll ask no questons..;)

    4. Stopped by to visit DD on the way home this afternoon, she has lupus and is just getting over a flare, and looks soooo much better today. A real blessing is having her DH and their children, they're all so good and helpful :A

    5. Friend and I watched comedy programmes all evening and laughed til we cried :D

  • 1. Getting my tablets out of the new box I bought at the weekend (a separate compartment for each day) and realising that the dots on the front of each box are braille and being SOOOOO thankful for my sight.

    2. Giving the kitchen a jolly good clean so that I don't have too much to do in there next week.

    3. Clearing up the last few leaves in the garden (where do they come from, I thought I'd done this once) and seeing the first few very bold bulbs peeping through the soil. :j Spring is on the way.

    4. Making lemon curd.

    5. Lots of baking to last over the holiday.

    Friday Blessings..

    1. Dyed my friends hair light brown, she's had all of the previous dark brown dye cut out and it looks so much better now even if it is very short! :D

    2. Got 3 surveys in my email and didn't get screened out of any..must be Christmas :rotfl:

    3. My brother - he of the £800k house and flash cars in his garage invited me, with the lowly HA house and 7-year-old Korean jalopy - for Christmas Day! I've just accepted my DD's invitation so I won't be able to go but I'd rather be with the DGC anyway :p

    4. Like bella I was in my garden today, and was thrilled to see my cauldron of snowdrops pushing through the soil. The promise of good things to come :D

    5. Made a big dish of pasta n meatballs for dinner, I used Lloyd G's smokey bacon sauce and it was delicious. And enough mince left over for a meat loaf tomorrow which I put in the oven with a rice pud, so I just have to throw salad together and dinner's done ;)
  • 1) Saw a stray old lemon left in the fruitbowl that very nearly got thrown in the bin. Thought better of it and had an OS moment, thought for a minute what could I do with a spare lemon. Ohh yeah, lemon muffins with lemon drizzle icing. Yumm!

    2) Defrosted some frozen chicken and a surprise find of some naan bread from the freezer, made huge chicken curry, padded out with two near death tomatoes and a cup of lentils. Had for dinner yum and froze one portion.

    3) A big piece of cheese in the fridge not likely to get used in the next day or so, so grated it all up and put it in a box in the freezer.

    4) Hoovered and polished the whole house and opened all the windows until it rained.

    5) Tidied up a cotton bathmat that was looking like it had seen better days. Took the scissors to it and cut off all the loose cotton threads and fluffy pilled bits and it looks lovely again.
