  • 1. Putting all the shopping away in the pantry, it seemed to take ages today. Once upon a time I used to hate this job but now I am so thankful that we have food.

    2. Mixed two helpings of soup for myself and DH. One was a very debris soup and frankly not that nice, the other was butternut squash and carrot. Together they were yum.

    3. Made more butternut squash and carrot soup to last over the holiday. This time I put some of debris veg in it and it has turned out lovely.

    4. 4oz. leftover lamb from the freezer made us a lovely shepherd's pie tonight.

    5. Having a lovely OS sit down tonight and knitting my 'sale' wool. I seem to have been on my OS feet none stop for the last two days and I'm shattered.

    Friday Blessings..

    3. My brother - he of the £800k house and flash cars in his garage invited me, with the lowly HA house and 7-year-old Korean jalopy - for Christmas Day! I've just accepted my DD's invitation so I won't be able to go but I'd rather be with the DGC anyway :p

You'll have a much nicer time with the DGC, can't put a price on such treasures.

1 - Had a nice lunch in a new soup and salad bar with DH (after we both had a chiropodist session!)

2 - Bought more henna to make my hair even redder and cover the grey roots

3 - After lunch DH got a call from DD and she joined us at the Greenwich market for a browse and a cup of tea in a local cafe

4 - Found a really nice place to go for New Year's eve, they will have a live band but because of the credit crunch they decided not to do a New Year's special menu and will have their usual evening a-la-carte, much more manageable price-wise - that's New Year's eve sorted for me and DH!

5 - Got a lot of presents in a bookshop and spent a minute amount, as I used a voucher that was sent to me for filling a survey and also the 3 for 2 offer. Christmas presents sorted!

Edited to add no. 6: Received a massive box of assorted chocolates as part of a subscription deal to She magazine (it was £18 for the year plus a gift of what seems a million varieties of Divine chocolate - bye bye diet!).

    Good night all

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • First time posting here for me but feel like I need a little reminder of just how lucky I am-

1)Seeing hubby before I went off to work this morning- albeit for only 5 minutes. It was so good to see him home safely from a Friday night shift.

    2) Genuinely enjoying a day at work with some lovely customers and workmates. I bought my lovely staff some chocolate for Christmas today and genuinely meant it when I wrote them a little thank you for making my days at work fun. How many people can say that?

    3) Getting a card from my two year old niece and realising just how much joy she has brought to our lives.

4)Switching my Christmas tree lights on- it just makes me feel good.

5)The anticipation of making my first ever mince pies- I'm so grateful that I have the pleasure of cooking in my life.

That's it for me today but all equally lovely.

It's only early, but I'll have a go...

    1. Watching DD sleeping soundly in my bed. She wouldn't go to sleep last night, until she was in my bed. She also wouldn't keep her nappy on, and then pee'd my bed  Seeing her sleeping [read: quiet for longer than two seconds :A] was bliss.

    2. Having some chill-out time this morning with a cuppa before the rest of the family gets up and I'm surrounded with the usual mayhem.

    3. Wrapping the last of my Christmas presents. They look so pretty under my tree :D

    4. The soup (lentil) is made and my loaf has just come out of the oven. That will be lovely for lunch... if it lasts that long - it smells so delicious

    5. Hmm, number five... think I'll have to get back to you on that one. Unless starting to prepare some shortbread (and then realising I've run out of plain flour ) counts?

    Have a lovely day xx

    1. Last minute present shopping with dgs(4mths) and we went for a cuppa in our local charity shop - wonderful coffee and a turkey salad barm cake for £2.10 PLUS found him a v-tech toy for £1.50 complete with batteries.

    2. Some great 3for2 offers in Boots - don't usually go in there so was very pleased. That's sister and her family sorted :D.

    3. Arrived back home to find a christmas card with £10 - used it to pay for a takeaway as I was shattered - many thanks to E*** for a lovely meal for myself and OH :D.

    4. Managed to finish sewing buttons on cardigans for youngest dgk.

    5. Phone call from housebound cousin in Illinois, USA. They've had 18inches of snow and expecting more! We exchanged tales of our christmas preparations (she has no grandchildren) - she crafts quite a lot of stuff to pass her time. My turn to phone her next - I'll give her a call after Midnight Mass so I can say 'Merry Christmas'!

    6. Sat back and enjoyed my christmas tree in darkness - it looks magical with the lights twinkling away.
