Been missing for a while as we have had hallstairs and landing decorated, only just getting back to normal, but house is much warmer now the carpet is down!:D
My 5 OS pleasures today:-
1) making leek and potato soup in the slow cooker
2) making pizza dough in bm and producing 2 large pizzas for tea and freezer
3) making a dent in the ironing pile (I love putting away fresh ironing)
4) discovering lots of printed out recipes to try out
5) hm apple crumble and hm custard using 9p cream from Mr M'sOur days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

5 for today...
1) I completely forgot it was Thursday (!) so got a phone call from my mum asking if I was still going round to clean. The housework/everything has got on top of them over the past few years so a month or so ago she hired a skip and asked me to have a big tidy up! I spent a week just getting the place looking normal and am now doing 2 hours every Thursday. Today I did the porch and the little toilet room that is off the porch. I hadn't touched them in the "big clean" so cleaning them today took 4 hours... The high point was how beautifully the tiles cleaned up! The low point was, after standing on a kitchen chair to clean the ceiling, I jumped down and landed on the door knob on the way!
2) Got on top of my own washing mountain!
3) My younger son can now swim!!!! As of today! He can do about 4 metres and got rather upset that he couldn't do a width. He must have forgotten it was a gradual thing for his older brother too. I was impressed. :-)
4) Had fish and chips for tea.
5) A nice chat with my mum on the phone just now. She's quite pleased that 2 more rooms are clean from top to bottom. Only the kitchen is left...
6) Looking forward to tomorrow too - the last day of this half term, the boys' art show at school (when their work is on display) then little son has Film Night in the evening. (They all take a cushion to school at 6.30pm and watch a DVD on the big whiteboard and have popcorn!) As for me, I shall be giving my house the once over before half term starts and finishing my college work.

Good evening  everybody - was a lovely morning here today but then degenerated into cloud/rain this afternoon.
jollymummy - good to see you back on the thread again. Congrats on your ds starting school and on his first 'stage role'
.
Caterina - sounds like you and your friend had a good day together. Had to google 'doula' - what a wonderful role to undertake for someone! I was my DD's 'birthing partner' for all three of her children and it was such a privilege. Well done to you and your DD on your aerobics class - for you both :j:j!
mineallmine - wonderful welcome home from work.
Kitchenbunny - well done on the sewing and hope you enjoy your next cross-stitch project. My only sewing this week has been putting four press-studs on the bottom of an Ikea cot quilt cover - they just leave them with a hole
. I love the supermarket magazines for recipes and best of all is they're FREE!
dawn rose - these early years go by so quickly, good to see you making the most of them and enjoying even the mundane tasks (like the walk to school and back ).
zarazara - mmmmm new slippers - one of the major pleasures of Christmas.
RainyWednesday - :j well done on getting back into your gym use.
grandmasam - sounds like you had a wonderful day - a walk, something new for the house, a 'simple treat' and some self-pampering. It's only right that you should feel so good about yourself.
ACEY - ((((hugs)))) to you - I'm sure you'll soon settle into making friends at your course. Do you all get chance for a coffee/chat while you're there - maybe that would be a way to say hello?well done to your DS on his skiing lessons. Well done you on the hard work for your mum
.
Patchwork - wow - you resisted an offer of fish 'n' chips :A - I know that I definitely couldn't have done that. Glad to hear you DS enjoyed his work experience
. What a lovely way to help your friend out with her son
.
Broomstick - - great to see you again. Wonderful news about the OU grades and best of luck with the remainder of the course. Sorry to hear that your health has suffered AND having to move house as well - not surprised that your ME has returned. Love the idea of an iced lolly for brekkie
.
bunnytoo -well done on the soup making and your hair exploits
Louba - lovely news about your great aunt/uncle - how romantic of himand good luck with the house hunting.
billy858 - lol at your suspicions about the bedroom tidying and new loaf - I'd be going frantic with worry as to what mine had been up to!!!!!
flaire - loving the sound of your 'busy household' while you're sleeping - bread baked, laundry done and meal cooked - it's like the 'Elves and Shoemaker' all over again. Good Luck with the gardening plans.
Sassers - well done on your Debt Reduction Plan. It's such a relief to get free!
Primrose - We had a surprise postal delivery today as well. I think it's the sorters who have been on strike today and maybe the delivery guys tomorrow - or something like that.
catznine - wtg on your enterprising cookery.
Mine for the past two days:
1. The Lone Worker Training Course went well - loads of useful information about conflict management and some great self-defence tips. Obviously, a one-day course is no use for self-defence, but the tips given were very simple and potentially effective.
2. The freebie lunch was delicious too- great assortment of mixed sandwiches, spicy chicken wings, mini chicken skewers, chicken goujons, mixed salad, mini quiches, pasta salad and lots of fresh fruit for afters
.
3. Met with OH later in Asda Cafe for coffee and flapjacks for a treat.
4. Quick sprint around Asda on whoopsie hunting session and to get some 'bits' for the weekend.
5. Phone call from DS2 about our catering plans for the weekend (dgs3's christening). I've decided to do a couple of dishes of Mozarella and Tomato Salad as part of my own contribution along with a couple of Lemon Drizzle and Banana Cakes. Have already been recruited for sandwich making duties, drumstick roasting and pasta salad mixing.
6. Baked a cake for dgd2's birthday on Saturday. Just needs decorating with pink buttercream and mini marshmallows - similar to last week's chocolate concoction for dgs2's birthday.
7. Used up left-over spaghetti hoops (from dgk's on Tuesday evening) on bagels for lunch today - waste not, want not.
8. Pork and Apple burgers (whoopsied from ages ago) with oven chips and peas/sweetcorn for tea this evening.
9. Kidney Beans in soaking for tomorrow morning. Going to put a chilli in the Slow Cooker for tomorrow evening.
10. Gas Engineer arrived this morning to fix the c/h - was only low water pressure in the system, so was easily sorted. All is now well for when I decided that we need it on properly.
11. Finally finished my book (Dolores Claiborne) so now need to go hunting for another one to read :j.
12. Rang Medicash for a claim form to get some money back from paying for my new glasses last weekend.
I can't believe that nearly all mine are 'food related' - how embarassing.
Hope everybody has a good night's sleep - nitey nite - love Ollie xxx0 -
Thank goodness I'd eaten and still felt full before reading that gourmet list of pleasures Ollie:rotfl:
My five for the day:
1. Making time to sit and catch up on this list some more. Thank you for your posts everyone. They really help me to connect with what is real and good and important.
2. Snuggling up with DS2 and watching a missed programme on iplayer.
3. Laughing with DS1 (who is 17) about the fact that he'd told me he would be having a very early night (which he really needed) but in fact he's been texting a friend for ages. It could have turned into an argument but we kept it light and he caught me up on his friend's news - I'm so glad we are able to keep communicating.
4. Drinking a mug of good quality hot chocolate (saved for treats).
5. Having a newly made hottie on my lap ready to take up to bed with the local paper for a bedtime read. The magazine that goes with it has some really good ideas for reducing costs at Christmas - I've already had a peek.
Sleep well everyone

Evening, or Morning all,
Boys its late so Ill make this quick:
1. Toast for tea, it's all I wanted and it was lovely with a cup of tea. Loved one has been using brown sugar cubes as we'd run out of white sugar and I only noticed it today. Tastes ok!
2. Finding an odd bottle of lavender oil and using it in the bath.
3. Realising I am slowly but surely using up toiletries (and horror!) only buying stuff as I need it. Still not perfect but hey going ok.
4. Lazing around in a dressing gown all evening.
5. Realising that I've done better than I thought with xmas pressies. I thought I had to buy some cinema vouchers (amongst other bits) but then remembered I picked up a bargain footie table earlier in the year (thanks to this site).
