I think I need to do this, I'm fed up this evening! The people at the course I go to on Wednesday mornings seem all to be great friends/facebook friends/meet up for tea/share lifts and I feel left out. As per usual...
Anyway...
1) Apart from feeling peeved, I did enjoy my lecture this morning and want to get on with the next homework assignment!
2) Took my sons to gymnastics.
3) Went to Mr S and got the ingredients for sloe gin and to make Turkish delight. Got an old look from the cashier - who would need that much "Basics" gin and a bottle of rosewater??
4) Had tea in Mr McD's
5) My son got a place on his school's skiing course! Weirdly, one of the local high schools has a dry ski slope (how unlikely is that!) and he has 5 hour long lessons. Only £20 for the lot! :-)0 -
Hi Jollymummy, we've missed you. Welcome back and I just love the idea of your son being a leaf!
1) DS is on work experience this week and they've really looked after him well.
2) I came in from work and went straight to sleep on the sofa. Felt so much better after that.
3) A log fire lit when I got home - DH had stayed in for the dishwasher man (again, and it still isn't fixed) so the living room was toasty. Perhaps that's why I went to sleep.
4) Woke up and couldn't be bothered to cook. DH offered to get fish and chips but that would cost £12ish, so I motivated myself and found some chicken stock for a baked risotto and more left over cakes than I expected in the tin. Cost - virtually nothing.
5) Wearing DD's boots to work. I can't afford a pair at the moment but I've had a few compliments when I have been wearing hers.0 -
Peeps round door... tiptoes round door... waves a little wave...
Hiya,
I last posted here in early April and vanished somewhat abruptly, largely due to impending OU mega-deadlines, going through another bout of ME-type (ie not officially diagnosed) illness that has continued on and off all year, a falling out with our landlord that led to us deciding to move house etc etc and now we all have flu bigtime. Somehow posting on here got shoved to the bottom of my list of things to do and I realise now how much I've missed it.
Going back to the 'misery list' however... I managed to get a top grade for my OU course which has has had the brilliant outcome that as long as I pass my final course which I've just begun, the lowest classification I can get for my degree is a 2.1 and I stand a reasonable chance of a first, which takes a lot of pressure off. Just before the flu struck I was actually starting to feel a bit better again so I'm hoping to pick up on the upward trend again soon. We managed the house move and our new place is functioning more or less OK, although there's a lot of unpacking and sorting still to do, but the decision to move was definitely the right one. We still haven't fathomed out how to use the central heating but the new house is better insulated than the last and at least we are money saving on fuel bills for a bit longer. I've still managed to keep my writing work going and I've now got a director who is interested in my work.
Feeling as if I'm on top of anything though is still quite tough so I've decided to count my blessings on here again. Reading this forum on a regular basis was a real tonic before, so I'm sure it will be again and it's lovely to see so many familiar names from the spring.
So... today's flu-ridden five pleasures are:
1. An iced lolly for breakfast (my excuse - helped with the sore throat!)
2. Sitting here wrapped in the huge throw that my sister gave me last Christmas and the soft new jamas that I bought on an extravagent whim last weekend. They cost £10 from Mr S and have taken my total 2009 clothes spend up to £14! (The £4 was for a packet of knickers in May!)
3. DS1 putting together a supper from the freezer for all of us while I was snoozing in an armchair. It was lovely to wake to a plate of hot food.
4. Tucking up DS2 in bed with a hottie and a hot drink. He'd cleaned his bedroom today and it looked lovely.
5. Listening to lots of good radio through the day.
Sweet dreams
