Going to post mine now before I actually have to get on and do some proper paid work!
1. DD1 being surprisingly nice and tidying her bedroom without being asked!
2. A nice long run and a gossip with a good friend I haven't seen for a while.
3. Someone actually noticing they had used the last of the bread and getting another loaf out of the freezer. (something strange is happening in my house!)
4. My robin coming back for more breadcrumbs of the bird table.
5. Washing blowing on the line and my new fabric conditioner is making it smell really good.
Love to all. X0 -
I've just moved to a little village in the depths of rural Oxfordshire and finally (after a month) I'm back online! :j Gosh, I've missed this site so much and missed the OS board the most. You lovely people inspire and make me smile.
1. I'm now tumble dryer-less, but I now have a garden. Yes, a garden with a washing line. Very OS and I've noticed the clothes are easier to iron and smell so much better. And I'm saving the planet. And money. Happy me.
2. I've discovered the delights of timers - for electrical items. I'm on Economy 7 and during the night (when the electricity is cheap) there's a loaf of bread baking, the washing machine is running and I have the slow cooker on. My bedtime routine has grown a bit, but it's so nice to have a loaf, evening meal and laundry done whilst I'm asleep.
3. Dinner tonight is a pork chop (reduced to half price) and marrow bake (the marrow was a gift from a neighbour - they have very nice neighbours round here).
4. Cotswold cottages are cold. So I'm currently writing this to you with a pair of knee length socks on (very elegant) and a very long Doctor Who-type scarf wrapped around me about four times (and obviously the usual other clothes- just had to add that because when I edited, it sounded like I was sitting in the nude with a pair of knee length socks and Doctor Who scarf on).
5. Just loving being back on MSE. Thank you.
Hugs.

Morning all
My five pleasures today are:
1. Listening to the rain while being in a warm office
2. Having a pile of fruit (reduced) next to me to munch (rather than an evil family-sized bag of crisps, pure poison and I'm trying to wean myself off them...........)
3. Fiddling around with my `getting free of debt' masterplan (the PAD is going superbly) and making lists (I do love a list).
4. Nice texts from the new boyfriend this morning. A real gent compared to the horrible ex.
5. I don't have telly - so looking forward to going round boyf's house to watch Question Time tonight...)
Have lovely day all

flaire - hope you'll be very happy in your new home and get lots of pleasure from your garden. Just think of all those lovely vegetables you can try growing! Sounds like you've got your Economy 7 savings well sorted too.0

Primrose - I'm already planning the garden. It's been terribly neglected and the current phrase of 'Operation Vegetable' is simply clearing the overgrowth...and I've joined the local gardening society.
The plan is just to clear as much as possible before creating the beds and deciding on what veg will do best. I've had a wander down to the allotments - not good for root vegetables. But, someone suggested buying cheap buckets, drilling holes in bottom them and using them for growing potatoes (and other roots).
Having been in an apartment for the last five years with a small window sill, the prospect of growing my own fruit and vegetable fills me with a wonderful joy. I know there'll be mistakes - but just the idea of cooking and eating stuff from the garden is...bliss.:hello:0 -
Here's my pleasures today:
1) Getting the kitchen in order
2) Being ahead of the game in terms of tonight's tea prep so there's little to do except cook it
3) Having a nice relaxing day
4) Looking through old cooking magazines to find additional recipes
5) Remembering the broken biscuits we were bought before we went away - bliss!

Simple pleasures today:
1. A local walk in the sunshine, kicking through fallen autumn leaves and smelling their nutty perfumes.
2. Another selection of books from the library to look forward to, including a book of Sophie Grigson on vegetables. I love the way she writes, with humour and passion, sharing her foodie experiences.
3. A delivery of mail today. I thought there was supposed to be a strike but our postie turned out as usual.0 -
Hi all
Here are mine for the day:
1 - Last night I left some red lentils in a cast iron pot on the wood stove (after starting them off with a quick boil) and this morning they were cooked. Lunch sorted and I did not have to do anything (other than chopping a bit of garlic and parsley for flavouring).
2 - Vigorous aerobics class, starting feeling that I am regaining a modicum of fitness!
3 - DD joined in the aerobics class and she loved it. It is high time that she starts moving more, at 20 she is quite unfit and needs toning. I am delighted that she seems to love aerobics, hope she keeps it up with me, and she is good company too - and an incentive for me not to miss classes!
4 - Positive work meeting with my line manager, she came here to my home and we had lunch (the lentils) and then discussed the ins and outs of work over a pot of peppermint tea made with fresh mint leaves.
5 - I made a great big pot of bean stew using my Borlotti beans crop and also carrots from our garden, everybody loved it.
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
1) House cleaned and tidied this morning. Makes me feel very virtuous.
2) Weekly shopping bill still about £60 for four. It has been around this level since the allotment kicked in.
3) Tried a new cafe with an old friend this afternoon. It's a church enterprise in old shop premises in a very fashionable/touristy village round here and the coffee was lovely.
4) Going round to play with a friend's three year old son this evening so that she could have a break. He ate all his tea and had a big mug of orange while I was there, so we were well pleased.
That's all, I think but a good day.0
