Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Zarazara - I'm sure I had a recipe years ago where you made a jelly then whisked it (electric whisk) with carnation milk to make raspberry mousse...0

Good evening all  - It's been quite a pleasant day here - apart from five minutes when we had the blackest clouds come over and a really heavy downpour - then the clouds disappeared to nowhere
.
Broomstick - It's quite ridiculous how much the subject of food is running through my head at the moment - all due to this darn christening party on sunday. Sounds like you and your son have a great relationship. Good to hear your all getting better. Have you seen the 'silicon trivets' that you can buy in B&M Bargains/Poundstretcher/HomeBargains? I bought two a couple of months ago - £1 each - and gave my sister one for her new kitchen worktops.
mineallmine - well done on being 'on schedule' with your Christmas buying.
bunnytoo - hope your ds enjoys his school trip (bet he's looking forward to his 'midnight feast') and good luck with finding your Christmas cards. I think mine are on the top shelf of the linen cupboard - at least I HOPE they are.
billy858 - lol about those clapping smilies - made my eyes go a bit gaga as well when I looked back at them. Enjoy your week off work.
ampersand - thank you- but it will teach me a lesson - nearly hypnotised myself back there lol! Well done :T on the ebaying and on catching up with your friend again - hope you have some good reminiscences (sp?).
Caterina - wtg to you and your DD at keeping up your gym activities :j. I've had to google 'kefir making' and it looks really interesting. Something to add to my 'have a go' list.
Kitchenbunny - lol at skipping through the leaves to the supermarket - great to see that you can find delight in such a mundane task.
grandmasam - hope you enjoy your 'doggie-sitting' next week.
ACEY - Well done you on getting your assignment finished so early :T. If you're interested in Gavin Maxwell, have you seen this http://www.eileanban.org/maxwell.htm it's right in the middle of the Skye Bridge and it's possible to book accommodation to stay in for a holiday.
zarazara - My kids used to love 'milk jelly' when they were young. I used to let it set in pretty individual glass dishes, with a swirl of dream topping and half a glace cherry. Birthday teas weren't complete without them
.
Souk08 - ((((hugs)))) about your nasty boss - how awful for you! That is disgusting and he certainly doesn't have the right to make you feel bad. Is he your Line Manager or your employer? Is there anybody else in work that you can talk to - you do NOT have to put up with being treated bad in work? Hope you enjoy your charity day.
Mine for today:
1. A good day in work - all behaving themselves yet AGAIN!
2. Offering some spare seats for our shopping day to another Sheltered Scheme to fill the coach up.
3. Met up with OH after work in Asda to buy a birthday present for dgd2 (Caitlin 2 tomorrow). Got her a lovely little 'play kitchen' in the half-price toy sale for £15 - http://direct.asda.com/Bubble-Cook-Loft-Kitchen/000788768,default,pd.html.
4. Spotted a lovely dress for dgd1 (Dannii-lou age 11) for school Christmas Disco - http://direct.asda.com/george/kid-s-clothing/older-girls-4-years-12-years/dresses/jersey-bow-dress/GEM22649,default,pd.html - please Lord that she likes it. Will top up with matching accessories when OH isn't with me
.
5. Back home again to slow-cooked 'Chilli Turkey Mince' with pasta and flat garlic bread. Remainder is now nicely chilled and in the freezer for future meals.
6. DS1, his g/f and my cousin are heading for Scotland (Loch Venacher) for a week-long fishing trip this evening (travelling overnight) - bivvying at the side of the loch - brrrrr.
7. DS2 has phoned to say that his kitchen has been ripped out and can he come here so he and I can do all the food prep for the christening party in MY kitchen tomorrow - aaaarrgh it's not THAT big a kitchen !
Oh well - roll on tomorrow! Looks like being one heck of a day .
Nitey nite all - have a good weekend all. Not sure when I'll get another opportunity to post - love Ollie xxx.0 -

1. Reading these posts about milk jelly has reminded me that I still have several packets of jelly in the cupboard to use up and lots of soft fruit in the freezer so think I'll make a milk/fruit jelly this week-end, but using ordinary milk rather than condensed milk.
2. A badger visiting the garden last night - a rare treat.
3. Watching the heron on a nearby roof this morning, eyeing up a neighbour's fish pond.
4. Heating is off, and it's currently quite mild despite the rain, which we need.
5. Nice leisurely indoors day to look forward to.0 -
Acey, we made that at school. I was very impressed. We didnt have milk jelly at home. Funnily enough its what I was going to make for little DGS when he visits today,I set out to buy a jelly and evapo-milk but saw the carnation cream stacked next to the jellies. Magic!
I'll do the milk jelly [whisked carnation evaporated milk, stir into melted unset jelly, set in a pretty dish-------serve and enjoy]."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
Olliebeak, sounds good to me esp. the glace cherry."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0
-
Ollie, thankyou - btw your pm is full.
OS no.2 for today - listening to the tale of Kit Williams' wondrous book, 'Masquerade'.
Please ALL catch it on i-player......PLEASE.
Years ago, I saw an exhibition in the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood, of all the plates..........enriching, extraordinary.
....and have just caught a FANTASTIC postscript to the original broadcast[didn't know it had already been on]
OSno. 1 was Have I Got Nuwds4u. I do like and admire everything about Grayson Perry. He did an excellent docu with bikers. Find, watch if you can - check Torrent.
2 further little pleasures...oh, wot the heck, already 11.01 tut tut - is seeing bunny too and bunnikins hopping around each other here. Makes me smile and reminds me of more Pookie[Bunny with ears as wings - Ivy Wallace - charming ,v.g., oz]titles to acquire.
As it's raining again, shan't feel bad about all day-ish listing. Will concentrate on books and fabric I think. Won't have time during week, except in evenings, when I may add a few tasty objêts, but was surprised by how well fabric went when I tried it early last year.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

3) As above, but giving a cooking lesson to friends
4) Introducing my friend to MSE Old Style forum and spending quite a while discussing menu planning
5) A nice hot bath and feeling warm and clean (a lovely feeling!)

Ollie - I love glace cherries. For me, they are the icing on the cake. (wait, I'm getting something mixed up there :P )
