Oh and Ollie, I felt very welcomed and valued when you mentioned me in your posts so thank you!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Evening everyone. my 5 for today were
1-5. sorted out all son's wants and needs for his trip away.
That was it, the day just was eaten up, hours of it.
Nite to all.:j
Loved the poem Ambersand, and Olliebeaks words too.:T0 -
I agree too Ollie, I love it when I'm 'mentioned in dispatches', you're very special
Mine for recent days
1. After having a few dreadful days being angry with my exH for being the meanest, most selfish, horriblest man to ever walk the earth (long story but he managed to surpass his usual repulsive self on Thursday), I'm starting to recover and not punish myself for him being one of the worst fathers in the world. DD deserves so much better. I've decided that after 4 years of not wanting to have confrontation, I'm going to be less amenable as it hasn't got us anywhere, he treats me like something he's stepped in, and if he doesn't like it, then he can whistle!
2. Worked from home yesterday as childminder couldn't have DD, which was lovely - we had lots of cuddles after school and DD was able to relax more. I can't wait til she starts school full time and we can have every afternoon together, she gets run down very easily, like I did at her age and I don't like to see her with bags under her eyes.
3. Sharing DD's excitement yesterday when she brought home the class teddy for the evening - he enjoyed his honey on toast for lunch and photo session (couldn't let an event like that be unrecorded, lol), and it took a bit of persuading for her not to give him a bath with us!
4. Bought some fabulous books for 20p each from a local charity shop, 2 for DD, 3 for me (woo hoo, bought myself some treats!)
5. Watching interesting documentaries online tonight whilst being bathed in candlelight, courtesy of Fre*cycle person, who gave me 2 carrier bags of gorgeous candles; thus saving electricity and feeling reasonably peaceful.0 -
Hello all, not been on for a couple of days and haven't had chance to catch up yet but hope you are all well.
Mine for today:
1 - sorting out and bagging up loads of change in the change pot and getting £52!!
2 - replacing completely battered ballet pumps with a new pair, paid for by the loose change (once I'd paid it in to the bank) but still OS as I got 10% off
3 - washing up five empty black Lush pots and getting a free face mask
4 - thinking I would treat myself to an m&S sandwich for lunch, however instead getting four YS rolls for 50p and a pot of houmous for £1, so got four sandwiches for the same price a shop made one
5 - rubber chicken soup for tea:beer:0 -
Ollie don't shorten your posts please, I miss you when you're away on a course and have an early start so can't post...
Just a quick 5 today, it's been a long, tiring but lovely day and I'm about to fall into bed
1. Friend treating me to lunch after I saw some Chinese students for another friend's language school.
2. Doing a mound of paperwork for said friend, got their filing in order and was paid nicely for it :j
3. A fun afternoon learning a little more Chinese (I know they're here to learn English but they're almost as fluent as me and they've only been here a few months!) another couple of years and I'll be proficient in ordering a coffee in Beijing
4. Back home, feet up with a nice cup of EG, it was one of those perfect moments when no-one rings the doorbell, calls on the phone, just the comfort of my sofa and stool and the lovely tea which was exactly the right temperature
5. Later making a crumble with wrinkly fruit from the fruit bowl and the last of the oats. Yummy!
Night night all, sweet dreams

Morning all  - miserable start to the day here - but at least the gardens won't need watering
. Thanks for you kind words on my postings - I'll try and keep up with the recent surge in posters
. Great to meet you all
Haribo - :jwell done on being so organised for Christmas! My DD is here at the moment (long story), she's seen your signature over my shoulder and says she knows exactly how you feel.
zarazara - wow a diy-OH who clears up after himself as he goes along - you lucky lady.
ampersand - what a beautiful poem - lovely start to the day. Have to admit that I don't always read the entire weekly email tips.
billy858 - :T on doing your hair yourself - mine is due in a couple of weeks (usually twice a year - just before hols and christmas) - none left in it now as I went away in May this year - all cut out now.
Primrose - good for you on mending your greenhouse before putting it away - small job so easily overlooked and then you feel like  in the spring.
Caterina - congratulations on finishing your Roman Blind :T - and hope you enjoy Rigoletto.
Reverbe - omg - that strawberry and clotted cream cheesecake sounds :drool:. I'd have to travel about five miles on a bus for one of those.
grandmasam - that louvre screen is a really great find!
helyg - well done on all that family history progress. I'm the one who currently has custody of our family photographs which I've had to scan and store onto disks. It's such a privilege to be able to look into the lives of our ancestors.
Patchwork - what a brilliant coincidence over that bird's nest - they're fascinating things as well - good to know that the kids will benefit from seeing it.
ACEY - I've heard of Mr Dave's before somewhere. Supposed to be very good, aren't they.
Rummer - what an ideal day - a walk, good food, good friends and a kitten to cuddle with.
bunnytoo - sounds like you've had one mad busy day ((((hugs)))) to you. Well done on the scones for your art class.
Kittikins - sorry to hear you're having a rough time with your ex - I remember how it feels very well indeed. I used to love thinking up all different revenge scenarios - never actually got around to fulfilling any of them, but just thinking about it did me a world of good. I'm currently seeing my DD going through exactly the same thing with her ex and it really hurts me to see her getting wound up by him and his mother (known here as the WWofW - think Wizard of Oz but with one of my local place names inserted instead
).
RainyWednesday - well done on your 'slummy' sort out - £52 :j:j!
Sparrer - it never fails to amaze me when visitors to this country can pick up our language so well/quickly! Its a total mass of inconsistencies where grammar/spelling are concerned .
JillD - that's one reason why I love the Asda cafe so much - you just never know how many friends you'll bump into.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Handed out the remainder of the notes for tenants. Lots of comments about the change of hour at the weekend - nobody could believe that it was 'that time' already.
2. Phone call from DD to say she was having panic attacks - luckily her friend arrived to visit her just as she was crying to me down the phone - phew!
3. Another phone call to say that DD and kids were coming to visit for the evening. Had a lovely evening and they stayed the night.
4. Crazy breakfast time this morning trying to get dgd1 ready and out for school on time.
5. Just about to leave for a training course AND a freebie lunch :j.0 -

Hi all
Quick post as I just finished work and am freezing - and got to go cook dinner.
Here are mine for the day:
1 - Outing in London with a good friend (my first doula client, whose older baby is now 7 year old!),
2 - She was going to sell some gold pieces that she no longer uses and she gave me a lovely pair of hoop earrings for DD. I offered to pay but she did not want anything, so kind of her! DD loved them whenI gave them to her.
3 - I then invited her (my friend) to a nice Chinese meal in Soho and introduced her to the best little Chinese restaurant there (Hing Loon). I have been using the same place for the last 26 years and never once got disappointed. Very good food, pleasant staff and extremely reasonable prices! My friend loved it.
4 - On my return, started working at the pc and DD brought me a cup of tea. Lovely girl.
5 - Anticipating the chickpea and pasta soup that I am about to cook, having defrosted chickpeas cooked in bulk.
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
