Hello,
apolgies for barging in, I've often seen this thread but never posted. Today though, has been pretty close to perfect in my mind so felt I had to share :
1 - Hanging all my washing out on the line
2 - 2 hours spent at the allotmnet & returning with a bag of free veg
3 - Having home grown & made leek & potato soup for lunch
4 - Cutting the grass in the sun while DD & cat play in the fresh autumn air
5 - Batch cooking meals for the freezer
Number 6 is realising that life really doesnt get much better than the ability to appreciate those simple things & that I would rather have experienced those above than win the lottery to clear my debt0 -
Is it nearly Monday again already??
OK, 5 for today...
1) Popping out to Mr S's with my sons and getting some tasty food for the next week.
2) Selling some more tiles on Ebay.
3) School friend coming over (mine, not sons'!) and eating biscuits and watching Casualty like we were 12 again!
4) Quite a good tea - kebabs with pork, tomatoes, mushrooms, pepper and courgette.
5) Younger son still pressing ahead with his reading and re-reading "King John" for them at bedtime. (King John was not a good man, he had his little ways, and sometimes no one spoke to him for days and days and days!!)0 -
Welcome back to the fold ampersand, good to see you back and look forward to more of your posts
I do agree with you Patchwork, I think any other apple is a poor substitute for a Coxes
Welcome to the newbies, we really are going from strength to strength on this forum
My 5
1. DGD2 age 12 stayed for the weekend, she make bread, flapjacks and the most amazingly morish mince pies - and cleaned up after herself as she went :A
2. Took DGD2 to visit DM, had a pretty drive alongside the regatta course and ended up in a hamlet for a delicious lunch
3 Bought a flask so I can take tea to bed rather than have to stumble downstairs when I wake in the night, and in the morning I can be decadent and lie in bed with a hot cuppa before getting up to see to the rest of the household (animals). Experimented earlier and one teabag easily does three cups
4. DD passed her dog judging exam with distinction today :T.
5. Found a lovely bright yellow, woolly scarf in a charity shop for £1, just the thing to keep the cold out when the temperature drops
Night night n God bless all

Morning to everyone, my 5 today are.
1. Good clean of bathroom, sort out one more drawer, trying not to buy any make-up or lotions etc. use up everthing before buying new.:money:
2. Making bread again today, recipe i have is just not quite right, or maybe i'm just not good a bread making.
3. Lunchtime concert at theatre, only £5. Then pack lunch with friend in the city park. All the suits go to the park,it's the in thing here at the moment.
4. pre cook potatoes for tonights tea, leave puff pastry out of freezer for hm cornish pastie thing i make. Left over beef from yesterdays lunch, just mix it with bit of raw onion, carrot, and potato chopped very fine and add bit of left over gravy.
5. Take an hour or so and read forums on here, just makes my day reading what everyone has been up to. Always keep wee note book beside me to write down all the great hints and tips.
Have a great os day everyone.:j0 -

Rummer - great homely/family weekend for you there.

.
bunnytoo - thanks for that recipe - definitely looks/sounds delicious . That may just form part of our Boxing Day Feast here for when the family all come round. Have a good day at workand enjoy your lunchtime concert.

grandmasam - lovely to read your post again. Sorry to hear about the swineflu episode. ((((HUGS)))) to you to on your journey.
NJW69 - looks like you had a great 'use it up' day - good for you. I knew the YS abbreviation (I call them whoopsies) but it took me ages to get the LO one as being left-overs
- they're always easy ONCE you know them
.
Reverbe - You get the most amazing whoopsies in your shops - well done. Sounds as though you're enjoying your book clubs too :j.

bella - good weekend there.
ampersand - lovely to hear about 'mlle blackbird' again
Patchwork - my Sunday School days never involved catapults - but wish they had :rotfl: - sounds like great fun.
topsyturphy - I do hope your 'hiding place' is more successful than mine - I usually find it empty with a thank you note left in it ! Sounds like you've been busy with your ds at his dad's.
Lula-Hula - Thanks for stopping by to share your pleasures with us- you've definitely had a productive day :T.
sparrer - your dgd2 sounds like she's turning into 'sparrer Mk2' - :T well done you two. And congrats to your DD on passing her judging exams.
Mine for yesterday are:
1. Spoke to my cousin (USA) for nearly an hour - catching up on all our family news. We phone each other monthly, on alternate months, to keep the bills down - but then have so much news that it takes us ages to gossip . One of my very few personal indulgences. Hoping to go and visit again some time soon.
2. Visit to DD yesterday to do her hair. Not bad for a first attempt at streaks/stripes using foils. Wouldn't like to guess what would have happened if she had done it herself as she originally planned. Then again, did she phone to tell me as part of her original plan - knowing full well, what my reaction would be .........................
3. Hung around for the dgk's to come back from their visit to their dad and spent a lovely couple of hours with them.
4. Back home to evening meal of peppered rump steak (SmartPrice) with oven chips, onion rings and peas - delicious .
5. Have put the bins out this morning and today is the first time for the new 'Food Waste Recycling Scheme' - not much from here BUT I hope it's a success.
Time to get myself sorted out for work - speak again Ollie xxx0 -
Ollie have you tried Skype? Someone told me the calls are free on it.What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0
-
Thanks for that, Reverbe - but, unfortunately, my cousin doesn't even have a computer
- though her ex-OH is always saying that he's going to get her a set-up 'next time he visits'.

Ollie - have you tried firms like telediscount where you dial a number first and then dial your US number? Very easy and makes land line to land line calls about 1p a minute
You don't need to sign up for that one or anything, just dial their phone number and then they tell you when to dial the other number you want.
We use them at work, as well as Skype where calls are free.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi all
Here I am with five of my own, quickly quickly before going back to my work stuff:
1 - Good energetic keep fit class, I feel full of energy at the moment!
2 - Lunch with DD and DS, vegetable soup with vegs that DD brought back from her BF's Granny's house (she insists on giving food away to all her relations!).
3 - Friend is coming over to dinner so I have an incentive to make the apple and plum crumble that I have fancied for a while (but could not be bothered making).
4 - I met two neighbours today, who are both babysit clients of my DD, told them the situation and they will both give her more work if they need her (in fact one has already called her for the afternoon). It will help her pay her debts (including to me!) and start getting work again in this field.
5 - Finished the monthly minutes!!! Always such a drag every month and I feel so relieved when I finish typing them and email them to my boss.
Now back to doing a bit of database updates (long overdue but needed for the stats ) and then off to cook root veg casserole and fruit crumble.
Have a good evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Here's mine:
1. Washing drying outside at the weekend.
2. Being given chocolate cherry liqueurs
3. The left over money I had being spent on sausage and chips from the chippy coz we were late back and the roast wouldn't have been ready till nearly 8pm
4. OH going out to the supermarket and buying chocolate (doesn't often go to them so that was a double surprise)
5. The sun shining
6. YS battenburg from co-op
7. HM chicken soup (stock and chicken scraps from the roast) for tomorrow's lunch
8. Roast chicken sarnie for my lunch.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
