    Okay today;

    1) Day at work better than expected, three potentially difficult consultation meetings went better than anticipated

    2) The person who I bought the baby bath off yesterday on ebay offered to deliver tomorrow as her husband is working nearby

    3) Beef in red wine in slow cooker for tea was good when I got in at 7.30pm

    4) Received £20 moneycard from Tesco for poor customer service

    5) Got statement from Tesco CC that I had used for interest free purchases (bought my kitchen with it) with zero balance at end of interest free period. I love it when a plan comes together!
    GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

  • This is a lovely thread....

    Mine for today are:

    1. My DS (18 months) clomping around in "proper" shoes that obviously weighed heavier than his crawling shoes!

    3. My Dad phoming to say he's excited about his birthday party on the weekend :rotfl:
    4. Paying "tiny" but persistent amounts towards my debt.
    5. When phoning/answering the phone, I whispered as it's surprising how many people whispher back! (childish I know but great fun!!!!!!)

Not a bad day here today!

    1) Went to college. I am doing a counselling course (although it takes 3 years to be a proper counsellor but at least I've made a start!) It went well today and, after our practice role play, someone said I had a very calming voice!

    2) Went to Sainsburys, child free and got a weekly shop and some lovely socks for DS2. I thought they were green (sensible) and red (like his school jumper) and very practical but when he looked at them he said "Oh, they're so Christmassy!"

    3) They went to gym class without TOO much fuss....

    4) On the way to gym we stopped in the car park of a big hotel locally... I told them they had to be as quiet as possible and we walked to the edge of the grounds where there is a massive chestnut tree. So we got over 100 chestnuts! We roasted some earlier tonight.

    5) Came home and there was yet another beautiful sunset.

All set for tomorrow too, plenty of nice thing for their lunchboxes (they're going on to cooked dinners from next week with the weather being colder). Also my mum and possibly my dad and brother are coming with me to their harvest services at school so that'll be nice.

    L
  • 1) Rubber chicken with bottled potatoes and home grown veg for lunch
    2) DS and DD choosing to take wraps for lunch again instead of having dinner money
    3) A YS cheese selection with salad for tea. I do hope you can freeze cheese. I'm sure someone on this website said you could. The Cheddar and the Red Leicester were squeezed into the freezer and we ate the soft ones ...
    4) Watching First Knight DVD with my children after school. It was so tempting just to start putting all the shopping away etc but I made the decision to leave it in the hall and sit down with them for a while.
    5) Dishwasher repair person coming tomorrow. I have actually enjoyed washing up on an evening because I have had help and it's a good time to chat but it's time we got it fixed. We're still under guarantee (just) so it should be free.

I must read properly nd not just skim through the posts, I read Ollies No 4 as shark stew!
You can freeze hard cheese Patchwork, the only problem, if it is one, is that it won't grate, it just crumbles. I tried to freeze a garlic roule once and it was a bit watery when thawed but not tried any other soft cheeses.
Sorry to hear about the car newlywed, doesn't it make you want them to bring back the birch!
Been a bit of a tough day as my DD who already has lupus has now had an emergency referral to the breast consultant. Wish I could have these things for her but keeping everything crossed and praying hard it'll turn out to be a false alarm.

    My 5

    1. While waiting for doctor's appt DD and I went to a local bakery where a tea, a coffee and two pastries only cost £3.65. They can keep all their American style mass produced fast food chains

    2. The rain refilled the water butt, and saved me having to water so a double whammy

    3. Postie brought me a fake tan face cream to trial...I'll look like I've taken a late holiday :D

    4. Got the cheque for the freezer breakdown and paid it into the bank

    5. had to cancel my Blackpool holiday as my neighbour has decided she doesn't want to go, but she's paid her share of the cancellation cost. DGD and I are going to stay with friends up that way now so we'll still get to see the lights

Night night n God bless all

Good morning  to you all - had a nosey out of the window and wished I hadn't :( - miserable drizzle! At least no laundry needs doing today ;).

Nomoneymummy - :j on your NSD's and batch cooking - wish I'd known about batch cooking 20yrs ago when I was on evening/night shifts.
puss14 - bad news about OH's cancelled shifts - hope his firm takes an upturn in its business soon OR he manages to find something a bit steadier. Lucky you having a emoticon-animal-035.gif still missing my Tiggy-tiger :( - especially at this time of year when he was a wonderful hot water bottle to cuddle up to in the evenings ;).
newlywed - ((((hugs)))) to you - so sorry to hear about your car being targetted by local scumballs! Good Luck with the insurance claim. We see so much car crime around here - I'm just glad that I'm not a driver/car owner because I know my vehicle would be targetted by the lowlife. As I work for the local Housing Trust, I am viewed by some local residents as being 'one of THEM' (as in 'us and THEM' - 'THEM' being Police, Benefits Agency Staff, Social Workers, Council Staff and Housing Trust Staff etc).
billy858 - looks like that little robin is going to be keeping you company for the winter :) - fingers crossed for your ebaying!
Caterina - Sorry to hear your daughter is feeling so badly at the moment - hope she manages to sort out what she wants to do with her life and that's all this depression is about. I can remember worrying about not knowing what I wanted to 'do' with my future, and feeling bad that many of my schoolfriends had it all mapped out, when I didn't. Consequently, for many years, I just 'let life happen' - bit haphazard but not totally a 'bad thing' - just never knew from one year to the next where I was going. I DID eventually 'take charge of things' but not till I had three children, a prat of a husband and a disastrous marriage breakup - OMG  - now I KNOW where my DD gets it from!!!!!
topsyturvy - childfree early evening AND time for a peaceful shower - what luxury :)!
savingforoz - good for you on handling the 'work situation' so well - big deep breath, slow count to 10, and then turn/walk away (still :grin:ing) at least till you get out of sight of the perpetrator ;).
NJW69 - love the sound of that 'over sink baby bath' - wish I'd heard of them before. Well done on the great organisation of your kitchen/CC situation :j.
NoDebtDiva - lol at the thoughts of your DS in his 'big boy shoes' - my dgd2 (age2) walks 'like a docker' :rotfl:.
RainyWednesday - wow Mince Pies in the freezer already - I'm lagging behind - need to get my 'rear into gear' now .............!
ACEY - sounds like you're enjoying your counselling course - good for you :).
Patchwork Quilt - I've frozen hard cheeses with no problems at all - never thought about trying the soft ones though - not so sure that they would be ok .
sparrer - lol at my emoticon-animal-031.gif stew - eat THEM before they eat YOU! I actually found a dumpling hidden in the stew - and it had frozen/defrosted/reheated perfectly . Good news about the insurance cheque .
bunnytoo - HM lasagne - something I've never ever tried to do - well done you :).

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. Phonecall from DD to say her Housing Benefit/Council Tax Benefit have finally been sorted (from beginning of Sept!) and she's finally been able to pay the Landlord his rent money. It will now go into her bank account every month - such a relief.
Now there's just the small outstanding problem with dgs1 being given a date for starting school - he's been off for around 13wks while the two Education Authorities sort out his one-to-one funding. Why the heck they can't just 'accept him into the school' and do his assessment for needs WHILE thrashing out the paperwork/finance, the Lord only knows!
    2. Finished giving out the flyers for my shopping trip to Bury Market yesterday and started taking money/names for seats. All going well so far :).
    3. OH coming back from HomeBargains with some more Plantation Sugar - not been in stock for weeks. If anybody is doing Luxury Food Hampers for Christmas pressies - these are great - 49p a tin in HomeBargains (normally £2.99!) http://www.plantationreserve.co.bb/section.asp?Sec=10&top=0&mpos=7 I love it on porridge . Imagine a coffee lovers hamper - one cup cafetiere, bag of Fairtrade coffee and a tin of this sugar !
    4. Our [STRIKE]shark[/STRIKE] shank stew was delicious - using some frozen left-over scouse tonight - that's a freezer-drawer almost cleared :j now.
    5. Managed to do two loads of laundry yesterday and tried to dry on the outdoor line - but no joy - still damp when it was brought back in again. Had to leave on the airer and radiator rails overnight.
    6. Got an 'over-55's Staff Working Group' at lunchtime in our Head Office. This was tried about a year ago, and it didn't really take-off - so hoping that it gets kicked back into action this time. I'm interested in finding out how our organisation helps to prepare folk who are coming up to retirement and what advice is available concerning our pension schemes. I'm hoping we get an opportunity to talk to a pensions advisor as I'm unsure about my position as a divorced woman with gaps in my contributions record. My ex-OH, who claimed benefits throughout most of our marriage, did the signing on and claimed for me at the same time - BUT I didn't personally receive the 'credits' that he got. Besides all that - there's a freebie lunch involved today :j - so can't be bad ;).
    7. Well done England last night :).

That's me done for now and work beckons - better get started for the day. Speak again later - love Ollie xxx
