Hi, here are my 5 for today,
1, phone call from my mum to let me know my dads hospital appointment went better than expected. my dad has a eye condidtion that could potentially cause him to go completely blind. the doctor has said that his condition hasn't got any worse since he was last seen and has said he dosn't need to go back for another 12 months. i could hear the relief in my mums voice.
2, another sunny day.
3, delicious chicken cassarole made in the slow cooker and my oh eating it even though he dosn't normally enjoy 'these type of foods'
4, a nice relaxing bath with my best molten brown goodies that i normally save for a special occasion.
5, oh still busy decorating in the hall. can't wait for it to be finished.

Today was not the best of days but I think I can still have 5 things...
1) Volunteered at my sons' school all day, heard readers and so on.
2) The man from Ebay has phoned about the tiles I am selling.
3) Had a Mr Dave balti for tea! (Its a Midlands thing)
4) Up to date with my college work.
5) A local lady dropped some clothes off for my boys that her 3 have outgrown. She does this every so often and there is always something good in there - this time some Clarks trainers with flashing lights.
And.... in a while I shall be in bed, watching Holby City on iplayer!0 -
morning to everyone, my 5 to day are
1. clean kitchen the stardrops and microcloth way
2. try and shop using my list, keep under £20
3. make hm rolls, still not very comfortable with my recipe yet
4. plant some parsley seeds, not greenfingered at all, fingers crossed for me please.
5. now up to page 90ish, still really enjoying the thread. must make time to night to read newer posts
have a great os day to day everyone0 -
Good morning  - still not that cold here and looks like another fairly mild day all round
.
newlywed - so pleased to hear there's been a bit of an improvement; :jon finding the bottom of the laundry basket.
bella - sorry to hear that your friend isn't well - but how brilliant that you and OH are able to offer help when she's in need. Hope all goes well with her op.
NJW69 - well done you on such a busy couple of days and congrats on the future arrival - is this your first? Ooooooh just you wait - they are so cute you just don't want to hand them back - well, at least until they have their first 'overnighter' :rotfl:.
billy858 -at your bright, stripey winter gloves - and why NOT! We need bright things in the winter months as a sign of the spring to come - good for you!
jennyjelly - Taking out both mums is brilliant and so good that they get on- wow about those trees - just think that the Romans were in charge here when that copse started growing! Well done on finding your lost earring - do hope you hung onto the other one
.
Nomoneymummy - Hope you manage to get your kids well and back in school BEFORE half-term  and congrats on getting at least some sleep. well done on your nsd's :j.
Caterina - well done on sticking to your vegan diet - are you feeling any benefits from it yet? Hope you're going to post us a photo of your blind when you finish it.
RainyWednesday - Are you also going to post us a pic of your 'customised top' when you've finished it - sounds lovely. Love the sound of your Veg and Lentil Soup - I'd have it 'as is', though my dgk's would adore the 'floating franks'.
topsyturvy - I remember those 'hate school days' very well indeed - hope he finds something there that he wants to take an interest in to change his mind. Well done on your HM bread rolls.
Patchwork - Hope the work financial situation resolves itself very soon and well done you on all your veg growing this year :T.
BADPENNY - good to hear the news about dad's sight not worsening- must be such a relief for your mum
.
ACEY - well done on volunteering at your son's school - can lead onto all kinds of other stuff. Very rewarding and you get to know lots of the kids properly. Amazing how many of them never get to sit with their own parents to be heard reading - good for you :j.
bunnytoo - well done you on attempting the home made rolls - not had a go at that myself yet. I tend to buy Warbies/Kingsmill on whoopsie and freeze them. Good luck with the herb growing - I could do with planting some more at the moment.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Good work day - all still behaving themselves. Need to go and visit some of my tenants who live about a mile away today. I have 41 properties on the site where I live and another 28 a mile away. Not an ideal situation, but it keeps me on my toes
.
2. Visit from DS1 yesterday - not a happy bunny following a 'bit of a to do' with g/f - he even turned his mobile off so she couldn't track him down and then asked me to fib when she rang me. Hope they get this sorted as I don't want to be 'piggy in the middle' in a row.
3. OH had Chilli Pork Mince and I had Turkey Casserole - both had been made weeks ago and frozen so only needed defrost/nuke.
4. Will dig out some Shank Stew from the freezer for tonight's meal  - need to make some space at the moment as I want to empty the small chest freezer to stash Christmas goodies.
5. Got an e-mail from my nephew last night - inviting me to his 30th birthday bash - what a lovely lad! Will probably go along for the early part of the evening and disappear before the end - can't cope with really late nights/loud music these days. If I sit with my mum - she can be my excuse!
that's me done for now. Hope we can all find some pleasures in our day today - speak again later - love Ollie xxx0 -
Morning all!
my OS five for the day... loving this thread great way to keep positive like the daily deeds one so thanks to OP's
1* Have the next 2 days of dinners sorted (working all eves for 7 straight)
2* about to batch cook next 5 days of dinners and stick on instructions of how to reheat for the OH to follow! (may make a second attempt at bread and am going to make some jam tarts now after reading patchwork quilts post
3* On my 3rd NSD, did go to the shop to buy a big bar of choc for my bread and butter pud but only had small bars, worked out the cost (had only wanted a 99p big dairy milk) was too high (69p a reg bar would have needed 4) so left without buying anything for the first time ever!!! shocking!!!!
4* The hygiene thread making me realise Im not the only one with a 10 second rule and not quite as odd as some of the playground mums would have me believe, would still rather go for an autumn walk than sit in an indoor playplace drinking over priced coffee.... dont care if that makes me daft, kids enjoy climbing trees more than sanitised ball pools!!
5* This forum, still.... so nice to chat to people who's first thought isn't OMG did you see xfactor/corrie/eastenders etc etc ... (not a pointless tv fan!!)
Hope everyone is well and morning to all
Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone0 -
Hi all, here's mine
1. The kids that broke into my car last night and crow barred and bent the door  didn't break any glass so it might be fairly water tight still - apart from round the edge of the door.
2. They didn't set fire to it like the car a few streets away, the other week.
3. There was nothing in it to nick anyway so they didn't take anything.
4. It's still drivable.
5. It wasn't a brand new car that was my pride and joy so I'm just annoyed at the cost and inconvenience, rather than being heartbroken
... oh and the sun's shining so I don't need to worry just this minute if it's water tight or not.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Newlywed, sorry to hear about your car. Hope you get it sorted.
Mine for today
1. Got to the post before the dog did!
2. My robin keeps coming back for crumbs from the bird table.
3. I've finished work until Saturday.
4. Giving the house a really good clean.
5. Lots of watchers for my ebay items. I'm hoping to make some money in time for christmas.
Love to all. X0 -
Newlywed, sorry to hear about your car. Hope you get it sorted.
I reported it to the police for a crime number in case it was worth claiming off insurance.... and they sent someone out to fingerprint the car, and me!! :eek:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi all
First of all, well done to all who even having troubles still manage to find some pleasures in life and post them here - it is amazing how well we feel when we still find space for gratitude even in difficult circumstances.
Ollie: I am not sure whether I am feeling the full benefit of being vegan yet, but certainly I am coughing and spluttering a little less - I am quite sure that a lot of my chestiness is dairy-related so perhaps I AM better already after all!
Newlywed: sorry to hear about car break-in, it is horrible when it happens, hope that you can claim some insurance at least - the police probably wanted to fingerprint you to exclude your prints from others - but it seems a bit heavy-handed!
Am a bit all over the place today. Last night DD announced quite tearfully that she decided that Uni is not for her and she is dropping out. This is after taking one year out to make up her mind, then doing one year foundation (in the subject that she supposedly "loved") and then changing course one week after enrolling. DH and I are really upset about it all.
DD claims that she is depressed - which in itself is worrying, but I know depression first-hand and know that when you are depressed you don't feel any joy or pleasure even when you go to the pub with mates, go on holiday, have a day out etc... She seems to be depressed only about Uni. Well, I hope that once she is out of it at least we find that she does not have clinical depression (that would be much sadder and much more of a problem).
Anyway, trying to find pleasures also today even if I am not at my best:
1 - Whole oats and nuts breakfast, with chopped fresh fig. Very nice.
2 - Started again going to the acupuncture clinic and the treatment was not so bad as I had feared. They put the needles in the same places that used to make me cry out but this time it was nearly ok, so it means I am better. Good!
3 - Booked tickets for DH and myself to go to the Bristol OS meet and found them relatively cheap on Megatrain (£23.50 in all).
4 - A lovely OSer is putting us up in Bristol for the night. You know who you are, thank you very much for your kindness and hospitality!!!
5 - Am looking forward to my lentil soup with onion and tomato from the garden (the tomato).
Here, I have managed to find 5 even though it is not 2pm yet and the day is not over. It can't be so bad after all!
Have a great day everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
My five for today are
1. Made a thai curry sauce to have with the chicken rice mix from last night which made it taste delicious.
2. Have had hm bread rolls for lunch today.
3. had child free evening till 7.30 as ds has gone to friends for tea.
4. Had a peaceful shower.
5. Was kept busy at work all day so time went quickly.
one extra - my ds got 5 raffle tickets for his homework done last night.
Newlywed - hope they manage to catch the people responsible.0
