    Hi all

Much better day today (DD), I got her out of bed and dragged her across Blackheath for our "daily exercise". She loves it and we sat in a cafe and made some plans for her immediate future.

Billy858, thank you for your kind comment, I am certainly back now and will try to post every day!

Bella, I am glad that you hand is recovering well!

Ollie, I shall report on the Fistful of Dollars viewing and let you know if I enjoyed viewing it again after all these years!

    Here are my five:

1 - I allowed myself a nice lie-in, breakfast in bed with nice cup of tea and book until 9am, which these days is blissful!

2 - Fast(-ish) walk across Blackheath with DD and then also walked all the way to Lewisham. Exercise for the day, tick!

3 - Free hot drinks with DD at M&S with vouchers and hot X buns (bought in the shop, much cheaper than buying in the cafe!).

4 - Bought fresh mint, basil and parsley at Lewisham market, 3 big bunches for £2, instead of spending fortune in supermarket for pittance amounts.

5 - About to go off to have dinner with knitting friends, one of whom I haven't seen for ages.

Have a great evening everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    2. OH looking after me and giving me a hug at just the right time, and changing my wheel when I got a puncture and sorting out a new spare for me.

    3. dd1 organising a day out for her friend who is recovering from and illness, it's lovely to see her caring so much.

    4. My sinuses finally stopping hurting!

    5. The sun coming out and creating a beautiful sunset.

I got quite a lot done today. Here's my 5:

    1) Procrastinating and putting off my college homework meant I cleaned the boys room, changed their bunk bed, hoovered and tidied upstairs, cleaned the bathroom, did 2 loads of washing, tidied and hoovered downstairs and let next door's dogs out!

    2) Finally did college homework then drove to the library to print it out (printer is out of ink). Swapped my magazines for free ones in the library's swap box.

    3) Made a tea that everyone enjoyed. Basa fish fillets baked in the oven, brocolli, carrots and cous cous then baked apples with mincemeat in the middle. We watched an old episode of Top Gear while we ate and its one my sons love where the British Leyland cars are tested to destruction!

    4) Half listened to my older son talking to his friend on the telephone (they're 9). Using the phone is something quite new to him and it funny to hear him chatting away. He also got Club Penguin working on the laptop and "met" his friend on there so it was all high excitement here!

    5) Did the usual reading homework with younger son (try to do 10 minutes EVERY evening). He's in year 2 and its been a long struggle with precious little input from the Senco.... But tonight he read ALL the reception words off his sheet then read his entire reading book! Then read it again! He's usually quite lacking in imagination but at bedtime he suddenly said he wanted to make up a story and devised a "Dr Who" tale complete with the hero wheel spinning his car and other clever touches.

    Thats about it!

Rummer - I purposefully bought more cocoa so I could make brownies but then forgot all about it! So I might make them tomorrow as your post has reminded me.

A lovely sunny day but not too hot. My favourite.

    1) Spent all day in the garden. Cleared away some of the awful gravel and the bin liners underneath it, cut down a huge shrub and got some firewood out of it, took the rest to the tip, planted my Bramley apple tree and a gooseberry bush.
    2) Got some washing dry for free.
    3) Made a lovely soup out of chicken stock and random bits and pieces.
    4) Made cornbread for the first time and sweet cornmeal muffins. It's quite good for dipping in soup but DS wasn't keen.
    5) Read some of our OU tutor group's drafts and wrote one of my own. I hardly dare write these days because it's like an addiction and I haven't got time to do it justice but this course is popping ideas into my head.

Good evening everybody  - wow what a fabulous day it's been here today - very summery .

alisong - :hello: and welcome to the thread - great to see another poster looking for the pleasures in life. Hope you enjoyed your Banana Bread - I made 2 last time and put one in the freezer.
bella - Baking at 6.30am - omg I can't even see straight at that time in a morning, never mind work things out on the kitchen scales ! Hope all is well with your friend and that she has a speedy recovery. Take care yourself as well, or your poor OH will have 2 patients to look after ;).
bunnytoo - maybe your pamper session will help you to relax a little - well enough to get some quality sleep at least - good luck :).
newlywed - well done you :T on having some money left with just a week to go AND still some stuff in the freezer.
billy858 - good news about your DD being in the cross country team and well done you on the ebaying :).
Caterina - good on you and DD for your walk across the heath - sounds like she's feeling a bit more positive :T. Hope you enjoyed your meal out.
mummysaver - what caring DD's and OH you've got :j.
zippychick - I know that feeling soooooo well  - usually caused by me clunking when I should have clicked .
Rummer - well done on your whoopsies ;). Whoopsied curry evening for us tomorrow night :).
ACEY - Wow you were busy today! Well done to your ds2 on his reading progress. My ds1 had a similar problem (including a useless Senco) and it took lots of input for the 'penny to drop'. Now he's 8 and reads every notice that he can see when he's out shopping - even down to Fire Safety Notices and announcing (very loudly) the prices of everything in the shop.
Patchwork - You've certainly made the most of the lovely weather today  and well done on finding time for your writing as well.

    Mine for today:

    1. Asked for an hour off work to go for my flu jab - my GP does it for free as I work with elderly (most of whom are his patients anyway!). He said he'll send for me in a couple of weeks when the Swine Flu jab is available, as well.

    2. Also collected my 2prs of new specs from the optician (good old Specsavers ;)) AND remembered my 'special receipt' to claim some of the cost back from Medicash:).

    3. Needed some storage boxes so popped into Wilkos to see what they had. Found 3 BIG ones on 'sale' because they had no lids - so paid £7 for three instead of £7 each :j.

    4. Decided that I would take my lunchbreak in Asda cafe and went in for Jacket Spud and coffee. Just minding my own business - as you do - when I heard 'N-a-r-n-i-e-e-e-e!' being hollered. There was DD with dgs1 and dgd2 coming towards me - definitely no escape for the wicked! Got some lovely unexpected huggles from the kids. Poor dgs1 is looking so bored with not being able to be back in school - he can be 'difficult' at the best of times, but he's now feeling like a spare part as everybody else is back into their normal routine. Feels as though he doesn't 'fit in' anywhere yet.

    5. Bought a whoopsied 'roast chicken meal' (double breast, stuffing and chipolatas in a tray) for the freezer, but had no room for it lol. So we had to have it for evening meal tonight with creamed pots, carrots, peas and gravy. Was very tasty and amazed how much meat there was in it.

    6. Emmerdale, Corrie and Martin on TV tonight. :T well done to all the OSer's who took part in Martin's programme - very brave of you all. Just wish we knew who you all were.

    7. Have now been through my food cupboards (and wardrobes) to sort out all the stashed food for Christmas. It's now in one of the storage boxes that I bought today and hidden in the bottom of my wardrobe. At least I can see what I've already bought and work out what I still want to get. Need to go through the 'baking cupboard' and make sure that I've got a good supply of everything for the marathon baking session ahead.

    8. The other two boxes now contain all the stray shoes that seem to wander around the house by themselves.

Oh well it's now Saturday morning and the weekend HAS arrived ;). Hope we all have a good one - speak again tomorrow - nitey nite, love Ollie xxx
