Hi all, here's mine so far:
1. Getting on better with OH - I get upset when things aren't right between us:o
2. The washing bin being empty!!! Hurrah!
3. Dinner tonight, and tomorrow from the freezer so easy dinners
4. More sunshine!! Planning another walk at lunch
5. The freezer still being stuffed full and just 10 days till payday (not much in the purse though).
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I'm getting hopelessly behind here, my friend who has RA has been staying here over the weekend and we took her into hospital yesterday ready for her op today after which she is coming back here for an unspecified period until she feels able to cope as she lives alone.
Some of my pleasures over the last few days were:-
1. Still picking runner beans.
2. Still picking courgettes.
3. Still picking raspberries.
4. The lovely sunshine which will help to shorten the winter.
5. Being able to give respite to a friend in need.
I shall endeavour to keep up with reading this thread as and when, but may not be around for some time.

1) Washed another pair of sons trainers and stuffed all three pairs with old newspaper and put outside to dry as they didn't yesterday. Going to polish the black ones afterwards with vasoline and they will look like new so he will keep his new ones for going out. Don't know where he gets the shoe thing from!
2) Cleaned out integrated stainless steel microwave. Bowl of soapy water with a squirt of rinse aid in on high for 9 minutes (might try less next time) and then wipe out all the steam/condensation with a clean dishcloth. *Gleaming*. I do have to do this on my kitchen steps as I'm only 5'1".
3) Gammon in cola in slow cooker with onion, celery and peppers.
4) Going to finish off my pots and front borders then all ship shape for winter and then sweep up the spilt compost. Found a stiff brush at catalogue clearance shop yesterday (Kleeneze) for £1.50.
5) Just had two charity bags pushed through door for Thursday so going to sort out some unwanted things.
6) Made sandwiches for DS and OH.
7) Bought a baby bath on ebay for 99p. The kind that fits over the sink. Saw one in TKMax yesterday for £9.99. Hope to get my friend to pick it up as she lives near the seller. Expecting first grandchild after Christmas.
8) Going to extract seeds from some of my tomatoes from my hanging basket ready for next years plants (got info on how to do it from Green fingers thread).
Looking at these has made me happy as I've only started doing these kind of things recently. Was off work earlier this year for 10 weeks following collapsing with stress and exhaustion. Have a very busy, stressful, high powered job. Just been having a few days holiday and really enjoyed doing simple things at home. Back to work tomorrow and will try to keep them up as they definitely counteract the job. :TGC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

Mine for today
1. Lovely walk down the cycle path to the bank with the dog. (dog needed a walk, I needed to do the business banking - 2 birds, one stone).
2. Finding out that a client who has been through a really bad time recently is getting things sorted again. He has had to prove very strong even though he has major health problems to deal with.
3. Catching up on this thread with a lovely cup of real coffee.
4. My new (only £3) stripey wool gloves. There is something about bright coloured gloves that makes me smile. I think it's the thought of cosy hands even though the weather is cold.
5. Homemade brocolli quiche for lunch.
Love to all. X0 -
My Monday and Tuesday ones - nearly all outdoors which is unusual for me!
Monday -
1. DH took the day off work and we took my mum and his to Westonbirt Arboretum near Tetbury. We couldn't have picked a more beautiful day, the two oldies had a wonderful time and seeing them both enjoying themselves so much made us happy.
2. Eating wonderful huge Cornish pasties while we walked amongst the amazing trees.
3. Standing in the middle of a 2000 (yes two thousand) year old lime tree copse - it puts everything in perspective!
4. Getting a load of cheap wood there which will be a winter home for the frogs and toads in our garden once it has been piled up properly.
5. Getting a bag of chips on the way home and dipping them in Asda value 4p curry sauce. Wonderful end to the day!
Today -
1. Another beautiful day so pottering about in the garden (still in just a tshirt) planting and moving things, repotting houseplants, potting up my new little fig tree and blueberries.
2. Getting an unexpected Skype call from DS1 at uni - I do miss him!
3. Finding an earring I lost last Christmas.
4. Finding that the crochet hat I was making up as I went along is actually lovely and fits perfectly.
5. Remembering to post a card to a friend whose b'day I have forgotten for the past 3 years - of course it probably won't get there anyway due to the strikes, but at least I did my bit!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

Hi all
Thank you Sparrer and Ollie for your warm welcome back! Yes I had a good time even though some of the time it was quite challenging - it is always like this with family trips for me, though, and I am quite used to it.
Here are my five for today:
1 - The weather keeps treating me well, sunshine like a summer day! Had a lovely walk in the park in between classes, just after lunch.
2 - Managed to stitch the second panel of the roman blinds that I am making at the craft class (decided it would be too complicated to try and make them together with DH - but might still use his precision drawing skills to measure the distance between rings at the back!).
3 - Still managing to stick to a vegan diet even though I forgot my packed lunch at home (and had to buy a delicious and not too expensive lunch in a local cafe near the education centre).
4 - Saw my friend for a cup of tea and a chat in the afternoon.
5 - Dinner almost all ready in advance, cooked spelt yesterday and chick peas this morning at 7am, now all I have to do is the veg, which I am going to do now.
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi all, hope you've had good days
1 - buying two long sleeve basic black tops from Dotty P's for 80p (£10 voucher found the other day plus student discount!) One top will remain as is for layering, the other I am going to customise with some red satin ribbon I've had for yonks. Watch this space!
2 - a good day at work, feel that stuff has been achieved
3 - an empty house tonight so am going to have a bath shortly and settle down in front of some more episodes of The Wire (1st series on DVD - borrowed from a friend)
4 - got my favourite soup on the stove - vegetable and lentil, waiting to have slices of frankfurter put in the top - yummy!
5 - feeling good when the Lumie woke me up this morning. The Lumie is essential for me in the winter
No scarfwatch today - may do some knitting later:beer:0 -
Mine for today are:
1. The sun is shining
2. Noticing the colour of the leaves on the trees
3. Getting out of work on time
4. making some hm bread rolls, they smell delicious
5. Not having a battle with ds2 this morning about how he hates school, he is 9!0 -
1) Making dinner in the slow cooker and serving it with home grown potatoes, beans and red cabbage. I know we've had a lot of cabbage but that's eating seasonally. When it's gone, we won't have any until next year, and only if there is a good harvest.
2) Jam tarts made with home made jam. My auntie makes the most perfect jam tarts, so I learned to make them her way - thicker pastry, more jam, cooked until only just done.
3) A good day at work. Now that the pay cut is in effect and we have had some very generous donations, amongst other things, no-one is talking about jobs being lost any more and the atmosphere is so much better.
4) Have made wraps for DD and DS to take to school tomorrow as we have run out of lunch money but have lots of rubber chicken in the fridge and of course, the cucumbers
5) Another empty jar from my lady at work. Guess who's also getting a cucumber? I hope she likes them0
