Ohh its Friday!!
1 - I read somewhere on here that before wasking pillows you should bind the sides together in a couple of places with thread and some buttons - kind of like an old style couch cushion - to stop the stuffing bunching up. Worked a treat! Now have lovely clean unscrunched pillowsOh thinks I've gone nuts though
2 - made some progress in finding homes for all the stuff OH has brought with him and we've put a pile of stuff on Gumtree so fingers crossed.
3 - looking forward to catching up with my friend and her new baby at the weekend
4 - unpacking the last of the holiday stuff and finding a beautiful handmade wire angel i bought for the Christmas tree on hols. Its so pretty it makes me smile but it was also made as part of a project to teach skills and bring employment to people from deprived areas of the country so it has a nice story to it too.
5 - a friend gave me a copy of the next book for the bookclub plus lots more so loads of new reading for me
Have a great friday

1. You know what this is going to be.....the sunshine!
2. Going to DD's harvest festival and having a wonderful time seeing the entire school participate, feeling a great sense of community even though I'm not particularly sure what I believe in.
3. Making tortilla wraps from a recipe on this website for DD, her new best friend and bf's granny for lunch with scrummy looking salad. No bread left in the house and I thought it would be more fun to make these and they went down a storm!
4. The girls putting on a dance show for us grownups
5. Sitting in the garden, chatting to lovely granny, the girls playing nicely, neighbours and their children being around as well, I love having people over, we don't do it often enough.
Life is good!0 -
Oh drat - it's happened to me yet again :mad::mad: - just done a long post and clicked something I shouldn't have done and lost the whole darn thing.
Needless to say, I feel p***** off. It's been a right miserable day here today - overcast and rain all day - curtains closed early and light switched on to make the place feel warmer.
1. No Spend Day - cupboards and freezers all full so definitely nothing needed at all.
2. DD, dgs1 and dgd2 came for a meal this evening - beefburgers (grilled and then put into a roasting tin of gravy to keep nice and moist), creamed pots, carrots and sliced green beans which went down a treat all round.
3. dgs1 is staying the night (out cold on the sofa at the moment) and we'll take him out tomorrow to give his mother a break from him. He normally goes to his dad at weekends but this time his dad 'doesn't feel well' (may have something to do with a new g/f on the scene!)
4. Will need to get some fresh milk and bread tomorrow, so a trip to Asda will be the order of the day - maybe a wander around the charity shops as well. Will give dgs1 some money before we get to the shops, though he isn't a demanding child and never seems to know how to choose something to spend his money on - usually goes home with it still in his pocket.
Hope everybody has a lovely weekend and that the sun shows its face for at least part of the time - nitey nite - love Ollie xxx0 -
A very special, if not particularly OS, couple of days for me..
1. A dear friend flew in from China yesterday, we've had a wonderful time catching up with each others news.
2. Went to see Rigoletto last night...amazing
3.. Said friend bought me a beautiful jade necklace and bracelet
4. Friend had meetings this morning so I pottered about until he came back. Right now he's on the phone to his office (they're 7 hours ahead of us) so I'm grabbing a moment to catch up on my mail etc
5. A traditional English roast lamb dinner this evening which he loved, even if he is antipodean
He has to return tomorrow but will be back in 3 or 4 months as usual, so although it's always sad to say au revoir to friends I have something to look forward to
Wishing you all a peaceful night, n God bless

Hello
My pleasures for today are:
1. Seeing a heron in the dock outside my window this morning. Despite it blowing a gale he was happily sitting on the edge of the water.
2. Baking my first ever carrot cakeI followed a recipe I found on the OS board and it's turned out lovely. Going to take half to my parents tomorrow, and keep the rest for me.
3. The horrendous tension headache I've had for almost 2 weeks has hopefully lifted. It was bad this morning but no pain since 2pm
4. I'm meeting up with old colleagues tonight for chinese and a drink
