Just one today, encompassing lots of useful things done in a sunny garden. Digging out the compost heap, pulling out some elderly strawberry plants and replacing them with this year's runners, planting out a tiny blackcurrant bush struck from a cutting taken last year, mending a tear in my mini plastic greenhouse with clear weatherproof Duct tape and generally tidying the garden. Felt I deserved my late afternoon snooze in the armchair.

    1. Feeling good that I coughed up the extra couple of quid to buy a free range chicken - it tasted better because we knew it hadn't had a miserable life.

    2. Danish apple cake made with the windfalls.

    3. Watching a robin making the most of the freshly dug border.

    4. Playing with my dog instead of sweeping the path - the leaves will still be there tomorrow.

    5. The prospect of watching Angels and Demons with a couple of glasses of wine tonight.

    6. Enjoying getting cosy now the nights are drawing in.
Oh dear, here we go again.

Came back from Yorkshire on Friday and it's taken me til now to catch up.

    My pleasures there were:-

    1. Seeing my 89 year old aunt, she's very disabled but keeps going somehow and still cooks her own dinners.

    2. Having a lovely meal out with a super Yorkshire pudding.

    3. The beautiful scenery in Yorkshire.

    4. The lovely friendly people in Yorkshire.

    5. The only thing we did OS was the DIY breakfast in the Travel Lodge.

    My pleasures since returning home:-

    1. My own bed which I had thoroughly stripped and replaced with clean winter bedding before we went.

    2. A (HM) ready meal for lunch yesterday. Long live batch cooking.

    3. A very rare Sunday without any visitors so just me and him.

    4. Turkey thigh for dinner, the one from Mr. M where they throw in the drumstick too.

    5. An afternoon sleep followed by some card making.

Good evening - been quite a pleasant day here today, after a rather wet start to the morning. Woke to find the garden in quite a tip after the overnight winds and had to spend a few minutes picking things up again.

flutterby - fingers crossed that's the headache gone now then :j. Hope your parents enjoyed your carrot cake and :T to your rugby team. Mine won yesterday (Saints 14-Wigan 12 phew!) - ours is League ;).
Rummer - good news about the shop after all then . You've had a busy day there as well.
helyg - that Forest Walk sounds like a good move after your lunch ;).
Reverbe - more great freebies  - and that sausagement mixture sounds very good.
Belisarius - you've got me  over that fresh baked bread and butter and jealous of you playing with your cat (still missing our Tiggy-tiger here).
thrifty - I bet you'll have great fun on Tuesday - I wouldn't worry about getting Captain Birdseye - as long as you don't get 'Uncle Albert 'Jonah' Trotter' :rotfl:!
Louba - I'm actually remembering to take my bags with me now - just keep about five of them folded up flat in the back pocket of my shoulder bag. I've got that many of them (through forgetting to take them with me) that I've even been supplying them to my favourite charity shop.
Primrose - hope that the strawberry runners and blackcurrant bush cutting are successful for you :).
jennyjelly - haven't noticed any robins around here lately - seem to get mostly crows, woodpigeons/collared doves and seagulls!
bella - welcome back from your trip and good to hear that your aunt is still 'doing for herself' :j - long may she continue.

    Mine for today:

    1. The morning started with dgs3 at 9.15 (his father just couldn't wait!) and then dgs2 decided that he wasn't going to his dad's footie match after all and he would rather stay with me instead - oh joy!

    2. Decided that keeping them both occupied in my house was more hassle than I could manage so rang DD and took them both there for a bus ride. Hmm not so sure that was a wise move - dgs1(8), dgs2(7), dgd2(2) and dgs3(1) in one living room - what a combination !

    3. Back home by 2.30 and DS2 had taken them both home again - heading to Everton to watch the match this afternoon - dgs2 wasn't going to miss THAT one!

    4. My Turkey Mince Cassoulet was very good - served with Pasta - left it cooking in the SC while I went out this morning.

    5. Watched Men In Black this evening - never seen it before and really enjoyed it . Also watched part of 'Murder at the Gallop' - love Margaret Rutherford in films - reminds so much of my own Nan :).

    6. Thought I had a 1-2-1 with my Line Manager scheduled for tomorrow - and found out I haven't - it's not till next week :j:j.

That's about me finished for this evening - looking forward to going to my bed with my book - Dolores Claiborne (loved the film so hoping the book is just as good). Nitey nite all and sleep tight - love Ollie xxx

Morning all  - damp here today - no rain overnight but looks as though it was a 'very dewy' morning.

princess lou - you're on the 'flylady', I guess ;). I started on it, and do still 'shine my sink' every night and go by the 15mins bursts on jobs - but gave up on the site as I got fed up with all the e-mails. It's obviously working very well for you. Well done on your banana cake - got about 6 manky bananas in my cupboard at the moment, so will do two this afternoon.

    1. Been up since 7.00am and my bins are out - recycling day today and we're first on the collection list so they HAVE to go out early or you get missed out. We're still on weekly rubbish collections here - not sure how my neighbours would manage if it was fortnightly - people over the road fill two full-size wheelie bins of rubbish EVERY week but no recycling. There's only two adults and a 6yr old granddaughter .

    2. Think we'll have a 'curry evening' for tonight - got some whoopsied deli-counter meals in the freezer, indian snacks AND naan breads - will save on preparation and it can all go in the oven for 20mins :j.

Oh well, better go and get a shower and start work for the day. Hope everybody has a good day and lots of os-ing - love Ollie xxx

Thank you Louba and Ollie, I did have a lovely visit...now paying for it with a streamer of a cold but at least that held off til last night

princess lou I started the fly lady thing a couple of years ago when I retired - for something to do mostly but then real life took over - and came to the conclusion that if I'm not acceptable as am, then it's not my problem. Now I do one room a week and the rest get a lick and promise, nobody's stopped visiting or died from breathing the air in my home - yet :D

bella isn't Yorkshire beautiful? I was near Keighley a few weeks ago, the friends I stayed with are coming here in Nov and I just can't offer them that sort of scenery or warmth, the expression I heard everywhere 'y'a'rate loov' (nearest I can type it!) should be bottled, it would make a fortune!

    my 5

    1. definitely a NSD, am sitting in bed typing this and no intention of going anywhere today

    2. saving on food as all I want to do is drink. The teabag supply is being hit hard though

    3. Listening to the gardeners outside, they're lovely and always de-weed my few paving slabs at the front of the house. Saves me time, effort and money so they always get a cuppa

    4. A window cleaner left me a card with a quote, half the price of the one I had to let go last year. I'll take advantage of him, even if he puts the price up after one visit I'll have got them done for a fiver ;) I know it's not really OS but can't do the upstairs ones

    5. DD sold some bits for me on ebay which made quite a lot more than I expected. I'm a little bit nearer buying my 'Panny' breadmaker than I was yesterday :T

Hope you all have a good rest of the day

    S x
  • Mine for the weekend:

    1) Getting a Boots mascara to test. I thought it would be horrible as it's green but it doesn't look too green at all once on.
    2) Going to the Indian supermarket instead of one of the big 5 for groceries and getting lots of bargains.
    3) Going to a little Indian cafe near the supermarket and having a two course meal with coke for me and MrS for £9.29. I felt as though I'd robbed him when I paid. Both MrS and I thought had food envy when the meals were bought out so we ended up sharing everything. :j
    4) Menu planning for the first time since my op and being able to cook everything that's on it :T
    5) MrS getting an interview today for a new job. He's really hoping to get this one so fingers crossed please.

    1. Some rain at last after weeks of drought. . Being able to do indoor jobs without feeling guilty that I should be out in the garden getting it tidy for autumn.
    2. Sitting at a window watching the local heron fly from rooftop to rooftop nearby, eyeing up all the local ponds looking for his lunch.(Wonder if he would like me to open a tin of sardines for him ? :rotfl:
    3. Nice telephone chat with neighbour.
    4. Sneaky slice of the banana bread OH made last week. (Am supposed to be dieting).
    5. Standing up and doing ten minutes of exercises to keep warm instead of putting the heating on.
