    1. Finding 2 books I had been looking for for ages in the charity shop.

    2. Finding a set of 7 really pretty and unusual recycled glash dishes in the same shop on their 'red dot' (ie half price) shelf for 75p.

    3. Making a lovely lasagne for tonight out of last nights leftover spag bol, and discovering that the cauli I put in the bottom of the fridge 2 weeks ago and forgot about is (amazingly) still ok so we can have cauli cheese with it.

    4. Walking the dog on a completely empty beach.

    5. Getting the washing washed, dried outside and put away - there won't be too many more drying days like this so it's good to make the most of it.

    6. Having the house to myself now DS1 has gone back to uni and DS2 to college and catching up on the X Factor while I cooked.

    7. The prospect of a glass (or three) of 3 for a tenner wine with DH tonight.

    Life is good!

PS Forgot to include getting some good whoopsies for the freezer - that makes me very happy!
Oh dear, here we go again.
  • Was about to post my five last night when the laptop ran out of juice so here's a mixed bag

    1) Feeling very blessed by the music in church yesterday.
    2) Using up some of the 'allotment' eggs in an omlette for lunch
    3) Driving to the DIY store, which took ages because there were two traffic jams, arriving just in time and managing to carry in a pack of floorboards and a big beam so that I could get a refund
    4) DH managing to finish laminating the living room floor, with all its extra insulation. He does work hard
    5) Having an hour in the office this afternoon on phone duty. It was the most peaceful spot in the building and I got one or two bits and bobs done on my knee

    Hi all

A great day so far and still some of it left, who knows what other pleasures we will get by tonight!

Bella: Happy anniversary, hope the dentist was not too unpleasant and that you are planning a lovely celebration anyway!

Newlywed: Sorry to hear about your OH moaning and being ungrateful about your good work, perhaps you ought to send him to this forum, maybe he will learn to post some gratitudes for all you do for him!

Reverbe: I really enjoy your literary references, today I looked up "The Guernsey literary and potato peel pie society" and decided to buy it (from Green Met!). Thank you, you are keeping me updated on the latest literature!

Welcome to Molly41, I hope you will find this place a very encouraging one to think positively.

Anyway, here are a few lovely things in my life today:

1 - Another early start, managed to give all 3 other family members a nutritious breakfast and made 2 of them (DD and DH) packed lunches - DS today is not in college. Feeling very virtuous and "homemaker-y" - quite unusual for me!

2 - Good energetic keep fit class (over 50 but still rocking!).

3 - Tea with friend after keep fit.

4 - Another friend gave me a bagful of ornamental (Japonica) quinces so I am going to make a few pots of jelly.

5 - In the post I received a voucher from M&S for a free scarf (from being a premium card member). When I started paying £10 per month for the premium card I felt perhaps I was being extravagant, but what with the cafe vouchers, free holiday insurance for me and DH and free gifts, I think I am really getting the full benefits! Ah well, it is one of my very few paid treats, and it seems to pay for itself amply.

6 - Came back home, found that DS had actually not only tidied the living room as I asked him, but the kitchen, too. Miracle! WOW!

7 - Already managed to do tomorrow packed lunches for the three of them, ciabattas with avocado, tomato and rocket, lovely and very cheap. Feeling that fuzzy "homemaker-y" feeling again, got to go and lie down until it passes :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:!

8 - DD started the tomato sauce for tonight dinner, so all I have to do is wash and dress the salad. Bliss!

9 - Forgot to add: £4 off Tesco shopping using vouchers for stuff I did not buy. Although I am not a big Tesco fan, once in a while when I have so many vouchers I go and use them up that way.

Good night everybody, lots of love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    anyway....

Quick ones from me while I can think of them:

    1. Roasted ratatouille with smoked river cobbler - I enjoyed it so that's all I care about right now! :p

    2. Baked apple stuffed with mincemeat with custard

    3. Another baked apple for tomorrow since OH turned his nose up at it :p

    4. Treated myself to a large carton of smoothie in sainsbugs and hot smoked salmon which will be my lunch tomorrow (in a roll). Bit expensive but who cares! ;)

Welcome princess lou - hope you enjoy it here, it rocks :D

Black mood is slowly lifting, fingers crossed.

Five for the last day or so:

    1. Finding a local ASD support group - such a relief, I no longer feel so alone.

    2. A long walk today with ds - it's getting serious guys, I put on my "fat" trousers the other day and they were tight - time to take drastic action

    3. A healthy diet today - plenty of veggies, fruit, low fat yoghourt - not one biscuit, chocolate, cake, crisp, chip has passed my lips :T

    4. Hm veggie soup for lunch and hm pasta and tomato sauce for tea.

    5. Taking ds and dd to the dentist - no fillings for them :T, wish I could say the same for me

Hope everyone has a good evening, (((hugs))) to all who need one, Thriftyxxx

    1. DD's braids still looking lovely, because I remembered the hairdresser/friends with afro hair recommending that I put a pair of tights on her head!! It worked and she has slightly grumpily gone to bed tonight with them on again :T
    2. Great swim at lunchtime, marred only by my goggles breaking when I tried to put them on (they obviously don't like going through the washing machine many, many times when I forget to detangle them from the towel, lol).
    3. Bought DD a space hopper reduced in Mr T's - have added to the present list, and will aim to keep it for her 5th birthday in March.
    4. The day started well with selling yet another book on Amaz*n, shame the postage was quite a bit, but I'm still in profit on it.
    5. took out some fabulous brand new books from the library and Slumd*g Millionaire on DVD, got it for the week so will save it for a night when there's naff all on TV :)
  • Yesterday's pleasures:-

    1. Only £107 at the dentist, believe me that's cheap for that place. It's supposed to be NHS but she digs for gold and rams a private filling in when you're in no position to object because your mouth is full of her and everything she possesses. Hence £107 for a checkup, very small stick on filling (no drilling) and a session with the hygienist which has to to private.

    2. A pot of tea in Sainsbugs cafe, I needed a boost.

    3. The shopping is cheap around where I live, not classy but cheap.

    4. A long chat with next door neighbour, I don't see her very often so we had a catch up.

    5. A completely no cooking dinner from Sunday's leftovers. Just a quick nuke in the microwave.

    Bella.
